I am not that experianced but usually it depends on what type of system you are looking for, personally I would go IP because of flexibility or choice and the ability to use analytics, but hey if your only looking to record/moniter a dvr system is fine. Just find the cheapest one with good reviews (no reviews is bad)

Hey guys i was just wondering if there is any IP camera software that supports PTZ cameras, face recognition and tracking (using ptz), alert zones, a nice clean monitoring area, and objectvideo(or something similier) + the capability to act as a normal CCTV monitering/recording suite.
