Hikvision NVR and Camera Pre-Installation Questions
RelaxIN replied to floridaguy's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I am going to PiggyBack on this thread since it very similar to the issue that I'm having... If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated: I just installed a new Hikvision DS-7608 8 Port NVR. Attached are 5 Hikvision bullet cameras running off of PoE. The VNR & cameras are running great with no issues. The camera's all have the latest v5.x firmware. I can access the NVR via iVMS4200 and Firefox just fine internally. The issues is when I "try" to setup the remove viewing from my Phone (Galaxy Note 2 (Android) using GDMMS. I have successfully setup and having been using this app on other systems with no problems. I researched the site, google, etc.. with no luck to get this to work remotely with no luck. I've rebooted the NVR, phone & router about a dozen times.. Here is the configuration that I have currently: - Home network is 10.1.1.xxx - Asus AC66U Router - Hikvision NVR: 10.1.1.xxx - Hikvision Camera's: 10.1.3.xxx (Preset by the NVR) - NVR Config: Port 8000 & 90 are set (Default port 80 was changed to 90 because my Comcast ISP restricts port 80) - I validated my routers IP: via "whatsmyip" - Port 8000 - Port Forwarded and tested via: "Canyouseeme" - Port 90 - Port Forwarded and tested via: "Canyouseeme" - Port 8120 - Port Forwarded and tested via: "Canyouseeme" Only because I read it on the web, thought I'd try it.. - Port 554 - Port Forwarded and tested via: "Canyouseeme" Only because I read it on the web, thought I'd try it.. - Port 5544 - Port Forwarded and tested via: "Canyouseeme" Only because I read it on the web, thought I'd try it.. - Firewall & Antivirus is also disabled for testing - Validated that the NVR & Cameras are still set to 8000 Using GDMMS, I put in my routers IP, port 8000, and use the admin account & password that is assigned on the NVR... still no joy... Thoughts...?? -
Alarm accessories for IP PTZ camera ?
RelaxIN replied to vitaminn's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
My personal one that I use for a wherehouse... is a single strobe (pulse) light and a single chirp audible sound. I mount them "near" the motion detect camera's that are scheduled for off-hours monitoring. When motion is detected, the audible chirp will sound (once) followed by the single light pulse. I dont care who you are... unless your deaf, your natural reaction to ANY sound is to look towards it to see what the sound was...with the exception of an explosion, I guess) The pulse of light is designed to have them look in that direction (most of the time, upward to where the cameras are mounted), thus capturing a clean shot of your pretty face for video...and hopefully a mugshot later. Just my .02 cents... -
Welcome to the forum Martin... There are alot of great & knowledgeable people here...!!

Professional Guidance & Suggestions Requested...
RelaxIN posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
All... I'm looking for some guidance and your professional suggestions for those of you who are business-class installers. I mean no disrespect for those who are Diy'ers or hobbyists, I'm just trying to identify with people that are in the business as a business. In summary.. I'm looking to expand my IT consulting practice into the surveillance arena starting out with small businesses and expanding as my experience grows. I have been in IT consultant for over 23 years working on larger Fortune 500 companies. My background is in architecture & engineering and implementation of servers, workstations, network infrastructures, etc.. I have since redirected my focus from the larger companies to the small and midsize business, both in IT and hopefully expanding to the surveillance side of the house. I have implemented at least a half a dozen surveillance systems over the last 2 years, both in the realm of analog DVR and NVR systems. Most recently I have four additional project requests which is leading me down the thought process of, "should I expand my service offerings to include surveillance systems as one of the principal offerings". Having said that, my direct question(s) would be; - Knowing my background in IT, networking, servers, etc..Would be advantageous for me to seek baselevel or intermediate training on surveillance systems and installs..? Or is this something that can be acquired along the way with hands-on experience. - Given your experience and the price point of surveillance systems, and if you had it to do all over again, would you recommend getting into this business...? - With the understanding that all projects are different, what would you say the "average" profit margin has been for you...? Again, I know my question is very opinionated based on your experience, and I also understand that people's opinions will vary based on their experience and work ethic. I simply just want to hear what the pros have to say. Thank you again for your time... And if you feel more comfortable PMing me directly as opposed to replying to this thread, you are more than welcome to do so... Thank you, Rick -
I have to be honest, I've never been into the bundle thing... I've always purchased independent devices... Not really sure why

Hey guys/gals... I want to get your opinion on an outside project that I'm doing for a client of mine. This is the first "big" outdoor project I've done on my own so I'm looking for some guidance on camera selection and configuration. In summary, this is a construction site that has been plagued by battery theft among other things. Apparently thieves are coming into the yard after hours and stealing the batteries and scrap metal. My client is committed to allocating a budget of $5500 for the project. They will also be installing high-end floodlights throughout the yard. The floodlights will be mounted approximately 10 feet higher than the cameras. $5500.00 budget allocation should include: - (Qty..? ) Outdoor IP cameras, type, cases, mounting hardware, etc.. - PoE Switch (8/16) depending on the camera configuration - NVR (8/16) depending on the camera configuration - NVR 2TB HDD, Software; for motion recording, remote alerting, Iphone/Pads, etc.. - Install/Configuration/Test Labor Provided by the client: - High-end floodlights, light pole, mounting, electrical, timers, labor - CAT 6a wiring, connectors, labor - Highreach, tools, drilling, etc.. Will be provided by client My questions are: - Given the centerline distance and radius, I don't know that I can get away with one camera to adequately cover that area and still have a level of quality. I am expecting to have to add multiple cameras in one sector. Here is where I want to get your thoughts on the MP of the camera based on the area - Additionally, I would normally implement box cameras and enclosures with heating, cooling, etc.. But I want to get your thoughts. Please reference the 2 image links below for a birds eye view of the configuration that needs to be implemented. I have identified the areas by color and sector. Additionally, I have also documented the center point distance as well as the radius. Please disregard the yard images as they could not look like that today. There is heavy duty equipment both front and back and perimeter fenceing installed. http://i988.photobucket.com/albums/af3/Rickgsx/SectorA.jpg http://i988.photobucket.com/albums/af3/Rickgsx/SectorD.jpg Thank you for any input you can provide... The only issue that I see with that switch is the 4 PoE ports... Is my understanding correct...? is there a way to configure it to have all 8 PoE...?
-
I'm confused... are you going to mount the camera to the wall and run the wires through flex into the box that's there...?

I hear a lot of positive things about Dahua as well, Including rebranding... that's where I get lost, trying to stay in touch with the rebranded names. I would be open to hear or receive an PM's for online resellers... Thanks...

Yes... I like to think I can retain things fairly easily, especially being in corporate IT.. which has its own learning curve in itself.. Lol I have been in contact with a few dealers that are willing to loan me some dental equipment from my customers.my immediate issue is I have to rather large projects in place that I need to implement rather quickly. But I don't want to be learning on the job with high dollar clients.. if you know what I mean. Those are the ones that will keep referring to you all day long if the initial job is right. I was not aware the conference in Chicago, I will have to look into that possibly think about heading out there. Thank you again for all your advice and help, is very much appreciated... and if there's any other additional suggestions or comments you have, please feel free to post or PM me directly... thank you again -
Could use some advice buying an IP camera for front door
RelaxIN replied to winterminute's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Mr. winkle do those have a wide viewing angel ? how would it compare to the hikvisoon dome with 2.8 lens? +1 ... I would like to know this answer as well... I'm in the process of purchasing 4 Hikvision domes... -
I think the lesson learned should be... Invest in a Solid infrastructure design (i.e. The right cabling, Switches, etc..) when you have the option to do so. When I say invest, I mean in "good" equipment.. when in many cases, will be more expense.. again, just my .2

Interesting.... I've never used an extender beyond 200 meters with confidence... just my .2

Hey Guys.... Thank you for your feedback... ssnapier... I completely agree with your comment about knowing and understanding the various products. The question that I was asking was... would that be better off obtained by learning it on my own, or by taking a formal training course...? Let me ask the question another way... when you first started into the business, did you take any formal training classes... Clearly you are a Certified dealer/reseller now... I would assume that the Product Manf. provide their own training course on that specific product.... Thoughts... Milkisbad....I am assuming that you learned as you went....? I mean, I'm far from a hardhead... I have an extensive IT background and I'm very hands-on with regards to mechnical and construction. The reason that I'm asking is because I have not been able to find any classes or training being offered in my area. Which by the way is just outside of Philadelphia Pa... Again, just trying to get some input.... and thank you both for your responses... -
