Any advice for good router with many features ?
Tomscave replied to gigimorphe's topic in General Digital Discussion
Asus RT-AC66U is what I've been using for a while now. There's 3rd party firmware available (Merlin) which opens up more features if your into tweaking settings. Handles my IP cams and NVR without a hiccup. -
Anybody got any experience with Dahua IP doorbell cams? http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/vto6110b--162.html I prefer to keep all my gear Dahua, but I'm open to suggestions that I can incorporate with the rest of my Dahua system.

Cat 6 wire color - any rules/best practices?
Tomscave replied to smyles's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I use blue for data and grey for cameras. -
You may have to hook up the DVR to a computer monitor or TV with the VGA connection, go into the DVR menu and change the output resolution of the DVR to 1080 or 720. Then the HDMI connection will work. I see this on lots of DVR's and NVR's that have HDMI output.

Dahua cam web interface
Tomscave replied to ceksenior's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You can use the Google Chrome App to log into the cameras web interface and change camera settings, but you won't get video. -
Dahua NVR 3208 display/channels
Tomscave replied to Anderino's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Seems like it would be an easy optional for Dahua to add. I have the same issue with my 3216V, but I turned off the auto-reboot option, so that helps a lot. -
Got into CCTV a year ago with Foscam cams and quickly learned the error of my ways. I now own and have installed numerous IP cams and NVR's for myself and friends.

Hitting cameras web pages with a laptop in an NVR with POE

That's the exact same way I set up my Dahua cameras and NVR, works perfect. -

GSS replied back to me. $250.00 for the 6110B cam. I'm waiting for replies from some other places.

The only place I've found them in the United States so far is Global Security Solutions in New York & California. I'm waiting on a return email with pricing.

Dahua specs are lacking and confusing. I was wondering about the POE and whether it would integrate with my Dahua NVR. I have an active POE splitter that can output 12v that I could use. Can the existing doorbell be wired to the camera?
-
Are you using a TV or a monitor? What connection are you using from the DVR to the TV or monitor, HDMI, VGA?

Thanks for the link. I update both of my HFW3200S cameras and they work fine. I like the new features.

Ask Device to split many display screen by IP Cam
Tomscave replied to febri's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Maybe I missed it somewhere, but I don't recall the OP ever saying he wanted 8 monitors to view 8 separate cameras, only 8 cameras and multiple monitors. That needs to be clarified first. Second, the OP also didn't state whether this is for a business/client or for home use. Third, the OP asked if any of the suggestions were compatible with IPCam, which is an app for Android. That's why I suggested the Mini-PC dongles. Again, I'm new to the cctv field and am learning a lot on these forums. -

NO THIS IS A BAD IDEA Please explain your opinion why it's a bad idea. The OP stated he wants something that would work with IPCam. I'm new to the IP Camera field and am learning. -

8 POE switch w/full power that is quiet ?
Tomscave replied to Wizz's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
The Zyxel ES1100-16P is a good choice. Change out the fans with some Noiseblocker NB-BlackSilentPro PM-2 40mm x 20mm Ultra Silent Fans They're really quiet and the switch stays cooler. The fans aren't cheap ($15 each), but it was worth it. I called Zyxel and was told "live with it or return it". -
POE - Which Switch?
Tomscave replied to fishingmaniac's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Received the Noiseblocker fans today. I had to cut/splice the connectors, but it was an easy job switching everything out. It's definitely a lot quieter now and the switch seems to be staying cooler too. The fans are Noiseblocker NB-BlackSilentPro PM-2 40mm x 20mm Ultra Silent Fan -
POE - Which Switch?
Tomscave replied to fishingmaniac's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Both fans are wired to 1 plug, so I'll have to cut/splice unless the pins are similar. Thanks for the link, I'll check them out. -
POE - Which Switch?
Tomscave replied to fishingmaniac's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just received 2 of Zyxel ES1100-16P switches for 2 installs I'm doing and they both have very loud fans. Has anyone replaced the fans on these? I'm looking at replacing the fans with Noiseblocker NB-Blacksilentpro fans to reduce the noise. The stock fans are Adda 40mm x 20mm, 8.5cfm, 28.5 dba @ 6900rpm. The Noiseblockers are 5.4cfm, 17.7dba @ 3800rpm. I've used Noiseblocker fans for other projects and they're very quiet.
