I have two wi-fi Uniden cameras (Uniden Guardian UDS655 wireless video surveillance system) that require an operating voltage of 5V/1A and consume 550mA(max) power. I would like to run these off of a weatherproof solar panel and battery as they will be mounted at a distance from electric service. I am wondering if anyone has had success doing this and what gear they have used. I am looking a a number of solar panel/battery units made in China that are used for charging USB devices () such as smart phones or tablets, but I am not sure if these are weatherproof or have the needed capacity.
