PC based DVR help and advice

I bought a pci dvr card because I already had all the parts for a Pc; buying a dvr would've been more expensive and less flexible software wise. At least compared to the Swann 1450 dvr that came with our 8 camera's. And not apps, but it can be viewed online. But boss is old school so doesn't care for those extra features or the idea that someone else could access his camera's if connected to the web
  2. Hello all, first post here. I just got into building a pc dvr system for my in-laws store. Father in-law bought a Swann DVR8-1450+8camera. He's using 4 camera's and the dvr in his bar. So i built this system from spare parts for his store with the other 4 cameras. Swann system link: http://www.swann.com/s/products/view/?product=1520&utm_campaign=bazaarvoice&utm_medium=SearchVoice&utm_source=RatingsAndReviews&utm_content=Default System: P4 3ghz 2gb ddr400 84gb HDD(upgrading soon) Mobo with intel 915g express chipset Using Intel Graphics. Now i bought a 60fps pci card, however its performance is only decent with one camera and hooking up the 2nd today it looks like its running at 10fps,plus it only records at 320x240 resolution. I believe i got jipped as they state 60fps, but upon looking up the actual chipset i only find 30fps cards matching it. Card link: http://www.ecrater.com/p/11338869/4-channel-dvr-pci-surveillance-video?gps=1&id=20539275859 So here's my main question, last night i purchased another PCI card. Now i'm hoping i made a decent purchase as it states it can record at 30fps per channel, 240fps total on card capable, and record D1 resolution, which the Swan Pro-530 cameras are capable of. New Card link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-Channel-V-A-PCI-PC-DVR-card-Real-time-DVR-Card-H-264-14-Bit-H-264-Security-DVR-/221230849302#vi-content]this 8 channel card i'm hoping you can tell me if i made a decent purchase to run 4 cameras. Also its stated under requirements that i need a graphics card with 512mb vram. Now i'm very pc tech savy, this dvr is a whole new dept tho. when you guys build PC-dvr's do you get a graphics card or is that over-stated in the requirements? Side note: why can't i use BBCode url? hence i had to paste the whole links.

PC based DVR help and advice

Hi. you will need time for forum members to reply. But both cards are 8 years old and run best at CIF. for 4 cameras your best just buying a standalone plug and play. you have already spent $100 and at best will run CIF or are best to run at CIF? because its states D1, which are the best the camera's can do.
