    GE DVSE

Hi, I have an install were we have 9 Kalatel DVNMe 16 that are all linked to DVSE's that have 1 terrabyte ( 4 x Maxtor 250G) inside each unit. The system works well but I am have huge troubles with the DVSE's, the units keep dropping out. We have firewire connections. Dip switches seem to set correctly. Hard drives seem okay. GE don't seem to put out a great manual on the settings of the DVE's. Does anyone have any experience.

    Consultant Prices

I think a fair rate is 10% of job value, like an architect. But in doing so it would be wise to order the gear on your account therfor increasing your future buying power. Also provide a folder at the end of the job with product manuals and system diagrams. Never underestimate your years of experiaence and knowledge.

    Kalatel or Dedicated Micro DVR

To Manquilina, My personal choice is definatley the Kalatel. It comes witha 3 year warranty and is extremely user friendly. It is the type of unit you can leave alone. As for pricing DAs Australia was doing some units on special though that was end of financial year stuff. GE (the suppliers of Kalatel have now bought out some extremely competative pricing, worth getting a couple of quotes. Hard drives can be upgraded but not recommended by supplier therefor losing warranty. Do you need to go for the CT versions I would presume the Ez version would suffice.

    Australian Trade Show

Hi thanks for a great review. I also went to the show. The one thing that I noticed was that many large name manurfacturers are now representing themselves in Australia. I assume this will cut out alot of the people that are trying to get into the DVR market and are keen but in reality will only be there for one year. GE now represents its line with 2 salesmen and one tech support for NSW. I was a bit disappointed that there was not a greater emphasis on DVR intergration with POS and licence palte regonition though I presume this will come next year. I think the big guys will ride out the DVR onslaught and will back up thier range with long term product support.
  8. Can anyone reply to my delemia.
  9. IHi. I have a chain of business that use the Kalatel Ez DVR. We are looking to recomend the faciility where the client can read POS via the Probridge. Does anyone know if one Probridge can read transactions off multiple registers with a dedicated camera per POS:?
