Choosing a PTZ camera by optical zoom

If you want a reference, I have a video of my dahua 1.3mp, 20x optical, 16x digital, PTZ on youtube.
  2. If your not going the POE route and using a power supply. My preference is thermal fuses, not the old fashioned type that when they blow, you have to dig up a new one with the same amps and all.

Choosing a PTZ camera by optical zoom

I just posted this video today on youtube. This is a 20x optical with 16x digital. I have the digital enabled, but you can sort of tell when the digital kicks in. This camera is 15 floors high though, not 15 feet, lol.
  4. I decided to go with 1.3mp because visually, there is not a huge difference from the 2mp and remote access to control the camera is more fluent with less resolution. If I had tremendous upload bandwidth, I might go with a 2 or 3mp. Anyway, here is the a quick video I took with it. Enjoy.

    Doorbell Camera

I frequent GSS in Queens,NY. They have one on display in the store. If you email them, ask for Jeremy, he knows everything Dahua.
  7. That's why it's better to get a 4 channel power supply if your powering 4 cameras.
  8. Most of the Dahua equipment come 192.168.1.108 static so if you have more than one powered up, you will have an IP conflict and you won't be able to access the camera. As mentioned, try one at a time. If that doesn't work, download angry IP scanner and let the program find the cameras or use the config tool. What is the IP scheme of your network btw?
  9. If it wasn't an inside job, adn the employee didn't give his friend a login, would the guy have been able to view the cameras even though they were on a public network?

Buying Dahua directly from China and resell?

Well, I've tried a few chinese distributors and the shipping time is never the same. I've learned that they do not have much of their own stock also. They have a limited stock and Dahua has almost no stock at all. Dahua waits for a large order of one product and than they produce it. I was told I have to wait 3-4 weeks for a PTZ that I want because Dahua is waiting for a big order just to start building them. How do you feel telling your customers they have to wait 2 weeks, even 4 weeks sometimes for something they order while they can go to empire or security camera king, or several others that have invested a ton of money to have their own stock?
  11. I don't have experience in this, but from what I have been told, the higher resolution cameras need more lighting over the lesser higher resolution.
  12. There is another app that works with Dahua. IP Cam Viewer.

Buying Dahua directly from China and resell?

There's more involved than just ordering from a website from China and reselling here in the US. When you order from China, you usually have to wait some time before you receive your items. If you plan on ordering a ton of cameras and nvr's, than you need alot of money to invest. Than you need to build and maintain a website and accept credit cards and what not. Than, what do you do if a customer of yours gets a bad camera and wants it warrantied? You have to pay for him to ship the camera back to you, you have to pay to ship him a new camera, you have to pay to ship the first one back to china. Also, not only do you pay big shipping fee, you have to pay customs fees. But hey, if you want to buy from China and resell here in the US, than knock yourself out.
  14. I personally have this one on my terrace currently and I love it. It has 20x optical and 16x dig, but it's more than enough. The 1.3mp is just enough as far as resolution.

Strange problem, with remote iphone view

Which dvr do you have? In the streaming settings for each channel, you can enable/disable each camera to be viewed remotely. It doesn't sound like you changed anything, but that is one thing to look at. If you can see at least one camera, than it has nothing to do with your IP or ISP.
  16. I usually sort by time and than let the time bar load up on the bottom. This way, I don't have to click on different motion files. I do notice, if I do not wait and let the time bar full up with motion events, and I try to advance the time, I get network error. Or, try rebooting the dvr/nvr, and your PC.
  17. Most of the Dahua's come static 192.168.1.108, but if you have a monitor connected to it, you do not need to know the IP address. If you want to take a chance, download the firmware, open config tool, and upgrade it.

Strange problem, with remote iphone view

Make sure the video box is checked in the sub stream settings, try to open just one camera at a time in your iphone.

    DVR HELP - noob

You NEED to have http:// in front of the IP when using IE. If you had port 80 rather than 8080, than you would be able to just enter the IP in the URL bar and hit the dvr. Don't worry about the firmware, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    DVR HELP - noob

You need to open IE and enter http://192.168.1.200:8080 to view on your local network. To view remotely, you can enter your external IP and colon 8080, but it's a good idea to set up a DDNS in case your IP changes. I'm confused also, because your picture shows your using 192.168.1.254, not 200? And if you want to use your cell phone remotely, you need to port forward 37777 to your dvr's IP as well.

    Best security system

Why do you need a PTZ? Why not a fixed camera with a varifocal lense and just focus it to where plates pass? And than a 2nd camera of the whole lot so you can get a make and model of the car?
  22. I pre ordered this a month ago and finally got it in the mail. I set it up temp on my balcony to test it out before it goes in my friends house. I'll post some night time shots shortly, but I am extremely impressed with this camera.
  23. What about cheap used laptops with hdmi output? Just turn off power safe mode and screen saver and your good to go. Who cares what happens to them, they were cheap used laptops when you purchased them.
