If it's not dropping out on your local network and is dropping out remotely, than it definitely does not sound like the camera is bad. Technically, fios could be completely down, and you can view your camera on your local network. Now that you say your analog cameras are dropping out remotely, it really sounds like it's a problem with fios. What else do you have on your network? Xbox live? Fios TV? Phone system? Etc. It seems pretty consistant enough so I would set bit rate to the max so you get errors more often, and start by turning off your wifi on your phone and logging into your camera through 4G service. Than, when you lose your camera on your phone, do a speedtest, check your internet, shut off xbox live, anything you can think of. Or last resort, call Fios and tell them your losing internet every now and than just so they can do a test. Another thing you can do is keep the camera in the switch and Ping it. If you get a slow response, something like 20ms, than your network is not talking to the camera very well. You should be getting 1-3ms response to it's IP.

Which ddns service are you using?

I'm sure someone else can chime in with an idea, but I have alot of these out in the field and have never seen that mssg with just one camera. So, this camera is connected to your network and you are logging into it while on your own network? Are you using the web interface, pss, or BI? Did you try plugging it directly into your router? It might just be a defective camera?

I don't see the 3mp 4100S bullet camera on that page. Maybe you have the 2mp bullet?

I'm in Queens. I usually get that mssg if I have too many cameras with high bandwidth set. If your only viewing this one camera, that is odd. What do you have the bit rate set at?

When you see resource is limited screen, do you have more than one camera open? And what part of LI are you on?

I was simply saying that your comparison was not the same. You said that you pay for a windows 7 copy for each of your laptops. No one was asking why do we continue to pay for the software for every NVR we buy, so I don't know why you even mentioned that. I was asking if the software for the 4 camera nvr cost more,less, or the same as the software for the 8 channel NVR. And if it costs the same, why are they charging more for different NVR's? Tdenson has a good point, if it's just software or firmware, why can't we buy a 4 channel NVR, and if we add cameras later on, why can't we upgrade the firmware on our current machine to 8 channels, but at a price? I'm thinking it's cause they want to bleed our wallets dry, no? LOL.

If you think someone on this forum has a reputable chinese distributor that they buy in bulk and resell themselves, and are going to tell you the name, you are crazy, lol. My suggestion to you, if you want to do this, and do it right, is to pick a manufacturer that you like, and is a chinese manufacturer, such as Dahua. Contact Dahua directly, and tell them that you are licensed and insured distributor here in the United States and ask them how to become a reseller of Dahua.

I fully knew what the difference was between a 3204 and a 3204P (PoE) but I was just a bit sloppy with my terminology. I don't know why this is weird. I thought it was weird that Tomcctv explained to you the difference between the 3204 and 3204P since the you didn't even ask what the difference was.

I have a copy of Windows 7 on the computer I am using right now. And then I have another one on my laptop, and another one on my office computer. Why did I have to pay for the three of them? They are the same "bytes", and actually, when I am using one computer I am not using the others. And hey, software is software! It's called licenses, you are not just buying hardware, but also software. This is not a good comparison. All of your laptops have the same software. No one is saying why do we have to pay for the software over and over for each NVR. I'm just asking if it's just software, why is each one more money? Obviously, the manufacturer wants to make as much as possible, but does the software that shows 4 channels cost them more money than the software that shows 8 cameras?

How would you honor the warranty on a camera if one you sell is bad out of the box? And these chinese companies want you to buy in bulk for the most part. Are you ready to spend alot of money to have inventory on hand? I know I wouldn't order from you if you said it would take 3 weeks cause your ordering it from china.

On this job, everything was prewired after he gutted out the house. So, the wire is in the wall, than drilled directly outside. Even with that cosmetic piece, I still used clear caulk around the camera base and a bead around the molding. But, why are you asking how I ran the wire?

In that case, it's doing an excellent job of being a deterrent and keeping the bad guys away.

You need to do more process of eliminating. Connect the TV direct first, like you said. OK, clear picture. Now just connect the splitter while the TV is still close. This way you will know that it's not just the splitter causing grainyness. If it's clear, than bring computer back to original location, connect the splitter and just ONE tv. Go to the TV and see if it's good. If having ONE tv is not good, than it's a distance thing for the splitter because you had the splitter connected close to the TV and it was good. Can you see what I'm getting at on how to trouble shoot?

Well I realise that is the likely reason, but I just wanted to know perchance whether he thought there was an advantage to using a 3208 if he only had 4 cameras. Um, I'm gonna take another wild guess. The advantage of using the 3208 rather than the 3204 is so he can add more cameras in the future???????????

Depending on the firmware, you should have a total of 32000 kbps to play with. As shockwave mentioned, at 4096, the image still looks good. Keep in mind, if remote viewing, the higher the bit rate, the slower the streaming is what I have noticed. If you do not plan on remote viewing from a PC, than go with the most kbps you want.
