Why would anyone go with an analog camera system these days?
luckyfella replied to ak_camguy's topic in General Digital Discussion
Being an IT guy and a tech guy, why is not finding a (kit), stopping you from installing an IP system? That's a lame excuse if I ever heard one. Of all people, I would think you would want to stay away from analog considering the additional networking capabilities you have with IP over analog. You can use a managed POE switch and reboot any camera you choose. You can remote into any single camera and adjust settings. And the resolution limit is far greater on IP over analog. But, since you can easily find a 16 channel dvr with analog cameras, knock yourself out. Good luck. -
MegaPixel Cameras - Images and Demos
luckyfella replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
My personal PTZ is on the 15th floor, but I've installed several as high as I can on a 2 story home and did not have any complaints about the upward limit. -
Than I guess I'm one lucky fella.

I just got my new Dahua eco savy 2mp 30x optical zoom PTZ. I threw it up on my terrace and shot this quick little video. I kept it in color because there is enough light, but the IR strength is amazing. -
Is this really "normal" focus

The sub stream is a lower resolution. It's meant for mobile devices such as phones and tablets. That's why it's even more blurry in case you were wondering. -
Get the Video to multiple apartments
luckyfella replied to prd's topic in General Digital Discussion
There are too many monitors in parallel and you will get feedback or a ground loop. As mentioned, you need a looping device with in/out, or home run each monitor to a video splitter. You say an IP based system is not optional, but you can still use an analog camera into either a video server or a 4 channel DVR and just connect it to one router. Than everyone can log in with their iphones, ipads, samsung tablets, mac laptops, windows laptops, android stick in their TV's, the options are endless. -

Dahua cam web interface
luckyfella replied to ceksenior's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
LOL, it's ok, a brainfart is not the end of the world. Anyway, I have noticed a few of the Dahua cameras are viewable in Safari on a MAC, and some are not. I think it all depends on the firmware of the camera, and the update of the Apple firmware most likely updated Safari as well on your Ipad. I tried a camera of mine that I know works on even Firefox on a windows PC, but it won't work on my ipad in Safari. I see the log in screen, but it stops at that. I actually find it hard to believe you even logged in using the ipad browser ever cause the camera requires a plug in to work and you need to download it. Are you having any issues using IE on a computer? Do you change settings in your camera often? -

You can use firefox on an ipad? I searched the app store and all I found was mercury browser and firefox sync, but not a firefox browser. Do you mean Safari, but your thinking firefox? -

luckyfella replied to venturis's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
That is a normal response and honestly it does not look valid enough to remove the camera and ship it back for a new one IMO. -

Why not raise the camera slightly so you get more of your driveway? -
Dahua IPC-HFW4300S - New 3mp Bullet
luckyfella replied to Brenning's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It won't be night difference as you think. Keep in mind, your display screen is only 1080p at most, so the 2mp bullet will look pretty much the same as the 3mp. Only when you digitally zoom in, you will see a slight difference. And also, the higher the megapixel, the harder the IR's need to work, so make sure there is sufficient lighting where you install the camera. -
do genuine dahua products carry the logo
luckyfella replied to ctvz's topic in General Digital Discussion
They do not want their name on the product period. They sell to other companies that put their name on it and sell it as their own. They sell their product to other countries and Chinese distributors to make money. It's that simple. And if you ask the person that you purchased from in China, they will tell you that they are actually not allowed to sell to the US because if Swan or ICrealtime found out, they would not be happy with Dahua. In the settings menu, you can find the serial number of your camera. Does it work with PSS? Does it work with Dahua NVR? Does it have the same IE web interface? If all yes, than more than likely you have a Dahua camera. Which camera did you buy btw? -
do genuine dahua products carry the logo
luckyfella replied to ctvz's topic in General Digital Discussion
None of the Dahua products actually state Dahua on them. You can find images online of their products with dahua on them, but I've never seen one in person with the name on it. The reason I believe is that Dahua makes a ton of money on rebranding. Companies such as ICrealtime buy Dahua and than put their name on it. So, if Dahua put Dahua on it, there would be some conflict there.
