  1. More or less threw my readynas 104 in the bin, proper sack of rubbish. HP Microserver for the win, worked out about the same price as the readynas too! wont buy neatgear nas again as the new firmware platform which came out at the time hardly had any features and was full of bugs, pretty shocking.
  2. Only two from me 1 - curiosity about 4k based around the 2cd2032 as others have mentioned 2 - On their raptor platform are they considering looking at motion events overlay on the blue timeline for constant record. so its a constant blue timeline but with pink overlay for motion events. I like to record continuously but highlight any motion areas for review.
  3. Hi All, Looks like Dahua have a new 3mp Mini Bullet, see here: http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hfw4300s-398.html Anyone likely to be trying this soon? Cant find any prices for it yet but curious how it stacks up to the hikvision DS-2CD2032-I. Only real difference i can see from the specs is the claimed 20fps @ 3mp (+5 fps than most other 3mp out there). They also seem to chunner on about the "Eco-Savvy" range using less bandwidth and power etc. Wheres networkcameracritic when you need him for a review Brenning
  4. Be interesting to see who is selling these? some of the users on here might jump at the chance to purchase some
  5. That is why I upgraded my cameras from gadspot (junk) analog to hikvision IP cameras, a lot better and more clear picture for around $100 a camera, can't go wrong. Sure there will always be "better" stuff on the horizon and I might swap out a camera here and there but I have very pleased with these new megapixel cameras, the difference is night and day. Likewise, I upgraded from extremely cheap analogue cameras to the Hikvision 3mp 2cd2032's and they are an awesome improvement, especially since each camera is completely configurable such as turning off IR etc. fantastic investment and I am more than happy with the low light performance as well as the "smart IR" feature. Colour representation was also significantly better on the Hikvisions than the older cheaper cams, made the old ones almost look like black and white!!
  6. IIRC the Chinese cameras come in plain brown boxes, UK specific ones in Hikvision branded boxes with images of the product on etc, Chinese: UK: Ironically both of those images are from aliexpress so things may have changed since I purchased from there. My UK supplied camera came in the branded box and has had no issues with firmware updates.
  7. There is a fix for this on here by a user called CBX, its probably because you purchased your cams through ali express so they are the Chinese versions. Mine are also Chinese but its possible to edit the davinci file to make them English again, I have 6 of them working with no issue.
  8. Think I've had this in the past and it turned out to be an NFS permission issue. I'm running a Windows Server though so the fix would probably different on your nas (probably runs Linux)
  9. Could be faulty. I may be interested in buying If you cant return it.
  10. The DS-2CD2032-I are not bad, 3MP and fairly decent IR. Let me know if you are interested in selling the ds-2cd8283f-eiz Brenning

    Hikvision DS-2CD2532-I 4mm (MiniDome)

Does it include the built in audio mic? if so I may take it
  12. Odd, I find the optimal setting on mine is 75. Any more and obviously things become grainy, less though and I find I lose detail. Mine are the 3mp 2032-i. Maybe the environment throws a massive variable in there or some other factors such as camera batch etc. mine is the 4mm lens
  13. I run the 2032's and mine are spot on at night? have you got the IR turned on?
  14. Looks to me like it could be the bitrate that needs setting higher. I have my 3MP bullets set to 10,000 kbps which is a bit overkill but does the job nicely.
  15. I'll second this as I have also just stumbled across this problem...

    Please Help!!

I'd say that's where you went wrong, research first then pull the trigger once you're happy you know what you need.
  17. I have a range of 4, 6 and 12 mm ones. Cant say I've noticed any difference apart from the 12mm seems to be affected by lens glare a lot more than the others.
  18. Bit off topic but I love the world of cctv. currently watching some guy on your cams drink his coffee and smoke a cig near the bit where your looking to put an extra cam. this guy probably has no idea that someone is watching him from the other side of the world. disguising a camera is always an option if you disable the IR LED on them. I've disguised them as part of hanging baskets before...
  19. Please post some photos and vids once installed. Considering the 3mp minidome so be good to check out some other reviews besides buell's
  20. Hi, I might have a spare 2cd2032 coming up soon. We live near a pond / Canal and have always wanted to have a look what's in there on the bottom. I'd say its 3 metres deep max, pretty murky water. I know the 2cd2032 is IP66 rated to stop water ingression but I don't think this covers submersion. What are peoples thoughts on if it will leak when under water? Ignore the pig tail connectors for now, more interested in where the wires enter the housing and where the lens presses against the casing at the front of the camera to make a seal. I've had a look at the 2cd2032 tear down topic, see here http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=37006. Has anyone else tried this or have any thoughts? Brenning
  21. Waiting for Hikvision to release one
  22. Does anyone know if its possible to disable the IR light on the Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I camera whilst in night mode? I have a camera that is looking through glass and at night its pretty blind as the IR just reflects off the glass. Short of covering up the IR lights, is there perhaps a command that can be used to disable the IR? Day mode isnt really an option as the light is poor. No suggestions of buy a light or put the camera outside please, just want to know if the above is possible. Brenning

    What is 4K

Personally I think H.265 is gonna be needed for 4k recording. Rumour has it that it can use up to 50% less storage space due to better compression. How true this is I'm not sure but still pretty excited....

    What is 4K

4k CCTV Cams round the corner it seems. Panasonic showcased some recently.
  25. Mines set at 50 My understanding is that an I-frame refreshes the whole image, and each frame in between only records changes from the original I-frame (kind of like an incremental thing) until the next I-frame. Supposedly saves on file size, bandwidth and resource the higher you have the setting but can cause problems if set too high.
