Hikvision Raptor 5.1.2 Firmware
Brenning replied to venturis's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Can't say I've noticed any improvement with 5.1.2 but to be fair I didn't do a before and after screenshot due to the jpeg image URL not working for me. I've still got 4 cams to upgrade so might try and grab some screenshots locally. To confirm - the whole camera was in Chinese after 5.1.2 update without the drop down menu to change back to English - not just the day of the week which I normally turn off anyway -
Hikvision Raptor 5.1.2 Firmware

Was in the same file yeah, not sure if it was on exactly the same line or not (not done the change on anything other than 5.1.2). Will this file get over-written if I run further firmware updates on the same cam? i.e will I need to edit the davinci file again? Assuming Hikvision don't change anything to prevent us from doing this.. -

You either need to change values in flash (which as far as I know no one has attempted due to the risk to your camera) or use my patch to alter a few bytes within the camera control app davinci. I'll give that a shot and post back if it works. Quick question, once I've edited the davinci file and zipped it, how do I get it back to the camera? I'm running Windows Server 2012 and telnet to the camera. Sorry for the basic question, I specialise in networking on Windows platforms - Linux isn't something I'm used to. -

Tried this on one of my Chinese cams out of curiosity. Once upgraded (had to use TFTP) the camera is all in Chinese with no option to change it to English (drop down box at logon has no English setting). Word of warning - Unless anyone knows a way to fix this without downgrading? -

Think the URL may have changed on the latest raptor firmware? I just get internal server error after entering username / password -
Why would anyone go with an analog camera system these days?
Brenning replied to ak_camguy's topic in General Digital Discussion
I'm not a CCTV installer by trade, but I have installed both IP and analogue systems at various properties I own. Some have pointed out that if you buy an IP cam now, it will be out of date very shortly when newer versions arrive, but that's true for most technology these days so I can see businesses just upgrading the whole system every 5 years or so. I imagine its a similar story with analogue but I've not really been keeping an eye on the scene.... It's worth pointing out I work in I.T... So after installing and using both systems which do I like best? .....IP Cams Why? multiple reasons, they just seem "smarter" as each cam has settings that are changed on the camera itself rather than on a central DVR. I also love how I can cobble a server together with raid and tell the cameras to record straight to NFS/CIFS shares rather than having to buy a bespoke type DVR so to speak or random PCI card for BNC connectors. No software needed on the server other than an OS. POE switch is a really nifty advantage too. I think the analogue systems aren't too bad really. From experience I've found you generally get what you pay for although prices do slowly come down as technology moves along. IP Cameras seem like a more logical way of doing things from my point of view so I do believe they will move forward faster than analogue but I guess no-one really knows what's round the corner. I don't think its a question of "which is best?", might still be here in 10 years arguing that out. Question is, "Which do you want?" Reminds me of when DJs were arguing over which was best, Vinyl record decks VS CD decks in nightclubs.........never ending argument lol........ analogue vs digital -
HikVision ip Cam TFTP - Chinese / US version question
Brenning replied to telljcl's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Regarding doing it across the network, yes this will work if by "network" you mean a switch. Mines a 24 port POE switch and it works fine through that. As long as it can find the TFTP server on bootup then no problems. For various reasons, you'd struggle doing it across a VPN etc. -
Hikvision Raptor 5.1
Brenning replied to UserM's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Any indications of when the full stable version will be released? Keen to see if it resolves an issue I have where the 2cd2032 cameras will only use about 2.6TB out of a 4TB NFS share. Looks as though it might be a limitation on the cameras as they don't detect the full 3.5 TB formatted size of the volume. -
recorded lagging of video frames
Brenning replied to dewalty's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'll second that, or its a resource issue. I had the exact same problem, images freezing or leaving ghosting trails from moving objects when I was trying to use an entry level Netgear ReadyNas for 6 cams to record to directly. Swapped it out for a much higher spec'd nas (better processor etc.) and the problem went away. Hope this helps Brenning -
Server 2/ 2 NICs - Unable to Obtain Valid IP Configuration
Brenning replied to eyal8r's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Very roughly: Untagged if a device is plugged into that port (i.e cam). Tagged if the port plugs into another switch (i.e joining 2 switches) Brenning -

Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I how to purge videos?
Brenning replied to ak_camguy's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Buellwinkle is right, the cameras should overwrite the oldest footage once full. From my experience these cams calculate how much storage is available based on volume size where the NFS share sits. so if you wanted 200gb limit on the camera recording, you'd need to create a 200gb volume on your hard disk just for recordings. There's always share quotas but I've not tested these since the separate volume method works fine for me.. Brenning -
Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I - Chinese version
Brenning replied to mroek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
But does it solved the week being display in Chinese issue? I'm afraid it does not. When ticking the "Display Week" check box under OSD settings it does display the day correctly in English in the little preview window but when you flick to live view its in Chinese. -

Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I - iSCSI?
Brenning posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi All, Has anyone managed to get the Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I working to store recordings over iSCSI? The documentation lists it as being supported (optional) but other than that i cant find any settings anywhere or any documentation showing how to set this up. Brenning -
Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I - iSCSI?
Brenning replied to Brenning's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
ok, through sheer spamming of settings so to speak, I've got this working on Windows Server 2012 with NFS and 4 cameras happily recording even after rebooting the cameras. Not tried rebooting the server yet but small steps I guess -
Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I - iSCSI?
Brenning replied to Brenning's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Ive had NFS working fine on a netgear readynas but the hardware wasnt up to spec. i'm wondering it its just a setting in windows? something to do with how windows reports back on free space since the camera see's 0bytes free? very annoying as i cant record now -
Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I - iSCSI?
Brenning replied to Brenning's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
or anyone for that matter. The issue appears to be that the NFS share is showing as 0b free space from the cameras point of view even though its a 4tb drive with no other data on there (so plenty of free space) -

Can you let me know what settings you used for server 2008 R2? I'm using Server 2012 but struggling to get it working. The camera sees the share but i cant initialise / format it from the camera. It just flashes up for a split second saying formatting but then reverts back to uninitialised. -
