  1. I use NFS from my Netgear readynas 104 (which is turning out to be a pile of crap performance wise, don't buy one!!) From what I've seen the cameras appear to detect the volume size that the NFS share sits on and fills up accordingly. Readynas 104 doesn't support folder or share quotas so I cant test anything out. On my old readynas 1100 it used to overwrite the older files as it reached the quota limit on the folder. For the cameras web server video playback, possibly a port needs opening on windows firewall? I've also noticed when trying to view playback files remotely via the web console I have to log into my NAS web portal (just to the main status screen) before the camera will find any video files, otherwise it just comes up with a message on the right hand side under the calendar saying something along the lines of "search failed" hope this helps. Cameras are great, Netgear readynas 104 is shockingly bad and struggles to even record one camera at 8192kbps without creating stuttering on the recordings when a car drives past or something big moves
  2. I have NFS working with mine. If you need help getting it working let me know. Pressing format didn't wipe any data on my NFS share (although I had nothing else on there to start off with) it just simply creates a load of blank video files ready to write to. After doing a bit more digging, it seems the actual hikvision cam may not be able to mount iSCSI targets itself but more supports the use of it through another host. So for example if you had a windows server with some drives mapped as iSCSI from a NAS box... other than this theory, I cant find any information whatsoever from Hikvision on iSCSI...
  3. Can't see anything for that I'm afraid, looks like it might be for the next version unless I'm overlooking the option

I have the DS-2CD2032-I's and I'm very impressed with them. Still lacking the odd advanced feature but for the price they seem good value for money. I'm not a pro so please dont take my word as gospel. Unsure if they have a heated housing but i've noticed they get quite warm if used indoors so they could have......
  6. Update complete... Firmware Version - V5.0.5 130925 Encoding Version - V4.0 build 130924 There might possibly be some new features but its hard to tell as what it has done is break most of the tabs in the config page. A lot of the tabs along the right hand side now have no name and the width is minimal. You can just about click them and guess which one they are supposed to be but some dont work......not too good Uninstall Webcomponents and let the new version install. Cheers, re-installing the web components was what resolved the issue. New features i can see from having a quick browse through are two new frame rate options (18 & 20 fps) a new option called "SVC" under the video config (on / off options) and a NAT tab under the network options which i havent noticed before (appears to be able to nat ports through to external IP). Anyone know what SVC is? Brenning

  8. Trying now, will let you know shortly how it goes on my European 2CD2032 Brenning
  9. Could be the switch processor being overloaded, tricky to tell though as its not managed. As others have suggested try using just a couple of cameras at first to see what happens. Can you still access the server internally when the problem is hapening? Brenning
  10. Is the 3rd stream possibly in reference to the RTSP? Or are we talking 3 different streams at different resolutions etc.
  11. Reading through all this info, the burning question from me is: Have i just purchased a load of cameras (hik DS-2CD2032-I's) that actually arent 3mp despite being advertised at 3mp? Brenning
  12. For bandwidth issues you could always try a network team on the server (assuming the switch supports it). We usually Team 3 nics to load balance based on packet destination which also provides fault tolerance when teamed across more than 1 switch. Ideally for 15 HD cameras you would want a seperate network and switch to run them through to avoid saturating your data network. You could go quite in-depth with this conversation. To all those out there who judge IT professionals based on if they prefer linux, you have to appreciate that people specialise in different areas. I specialise in Windows Server for example but I am aware linux is very good at specific roles, we just dont offer it out as we dont specialise in that area and our small business customers have never expressed any interest in linux / windows server is normally easily up to the job
  13. Sounds risky using a standard m12 lense. Anyone thought of just asking hikvision who supplies their lens? Or even if they will sell the lense on its own?
  14. Can anyone confirm if it is indeed possible to successfully change the lens on the hikvision DS-2CD2032-I? From 6mm to 4.2mm for example
  15. Dont think anyone has it yet shockwave
  16. Very interesting, can you pm me the link (or post) to the other post where this was mentioned? Cheers, Brenning
  17. Hi, Not sure which page this was as i had a few tabs open in IE for various topics on this forum, but my AV just flagged up a trojan from an image on here. Please see attached screenshot. Hopefully its a false positive Brenning
  18. I guess its possible to unplug the LED ring but that would mean taking the camera to bits and possibly breaking it in the process. For now i've carefully put plasticine over the area around the LEDs which is working nicely but if there is a software way to do this im all ears

    Any progress with the firmware?
  20. Thats a good question, I've used VLC player to digitally zoom in on my 3mp recordings and from what i've found it remains clear when zooming untill you zoom too far and it hits the limit of the recording resolution. The web pages on the hikvision cameras are a good example of this as there is a button to view the live feed at actual resolution, which doesnt fit on your screen so you get scroll bars to move around on it. buellwinkle may have something to add to this as he is much more experienced than me. 21. Hi Luckyfella, If the specs show as 1080P (and not 3mp) then one would assume those NVRs will work with the 3mp cameras but the recordings will only be at 1080P. Without going through all the specs sheets i couldnt say for sure if any will record at 3mp, although i know hikvision offer NVR's that record up to 5mp. Hope this helps. Brenning
  22. I'm always amazed at how little is actually in these DVR/NVR's when you take away the hard drives. Enough space in there for a football match
  23. Looks as though its not available just yet. we were chatting about it in another topic http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=37464
  24. Not sure if this has been mentioned but the software doesnt format your hard drive. what it does do is saturate it to capacity with blank raw video files which it overwrites as it goes along. Might be a problem if you only have one hard drive in your pc but if you have a second hdd or a raid array dedicated to the recordings it shouldnt be a problem Brenning
