I don't know how the firmware of the Costco cameras compare to the Hikvision cameras, but I am using the latest 5.1 firmware on a Dyretech cam and the camera has an overwrite setting. -

Have anybody been successful using NAS with CIFS on this new firmware? I have tried, but can't make it work. -

Yes, I am doing some testing and if I set the quota to 2TB, it take a long time, but it complete and record. One thing I noticed is, the bigger the storage space the more data directory the camera create. In a 2TB, the camera created 12 data directory, each one taking 58 MB, meaning, just in the initial formatting the camera use 696 MB of disk space before starting recording. Very inefficient IMO. -

They did added SMB/CIFS option under NAS settings, however, I am having an issue making it work with FreeNAS, if anybody with experience wants to do any testing please get in touch with me, my cam is not in production. -
What is the NAS path you have in the camera settings? I have Hikavision cameras ans FreeNAS working before and now I can't make it work.

I reconfigured the NAS volume, database and share and I noticed that the DS-2CD2032-I keep trying to mount to the old NAS parameters. I have done a soft reset to factory defaul, but not change. How can I do a hard reset on this camera. I see that have a bottom on the back of the camera, but it doesn't seen to do anything. -

I finally got some time and put together a NAS server using FreeNAS. I set the Quota, like before, then I config the camera NAS tab, camera rebooted, I formatted the database and it was working fine. I rebooted the NAS server for testing purpose and the cameras shows NAS offline. I have tried anything that I can possible think and can make it work. Any suggestions? -
Anybody use Vitamin D, looks like they are now Sighthound?

I downloaded the beta version. I like the interface and the motion detection is the best I have seen so far. I did not see a big issue with CPU load running the software, watching live and recorded clips (I only tested with 2 cameras), the big issue came when using the browser, even from the same computer, it is slow and when trying to replay a clip bring the CPU load to 95 % on an I7 core. -
PIR + IP Camera + NVR Software
gonzogg posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Can anybody recommend a working solution of a PIR connected to a camera input and a software able to detect the triggered motion detection from the PIR? This is what I am trying to do: I do want to have push notification motion alarms, but with video motion detection I keep getting too many false alarms due to bugs at night. Even with the flexibility of Axxon Next to set up motion detection I get false alarms. I can use the same settings for recording video and add PIR and may be a cheap camera with alarm inputs to detect real motion and get alert. -

Those two mention I/O, and I just noticed the RS485 interface. Is this an issue, or this is just an standard pin out for the wiring? 1-channel input, Normally Open/Normally Close modes adjustable; 1-channel output, 120VAC 1A/24VDC 1A,1 RS485 interface -

Yes, I see that, I hope to find a camera not to expensive for this purpose, like this one: http://www.dhgate.com/product/onvif-h-264-3-megapixels-2048x1536-vandal/171446136.html#s7-2-1|3865043225 or this one: http://www.dhgate.com/product/h-264-three-streaming-5-megapixels-2560x1920/171449596.html#s6-23-1|1747362146 -
PIR + IP Camera + NVR Software
gonzogg replied to gonzogg's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Understood. I started using Milestone XProtect Go, so I want it to use a NAS to overcome the 5 days recording limitation. I started building an small NAS with FreeNass for this purpose and to share files on my network, also I want it to be small and quiet so I can hide it somewhere in the house. The VMS will be running in a PC, if they break in and take the PC, I will have a video copy in the NAS. I hope this make sense. -
PIR + IP Camera + NVR Software

I would rephrase that statement. You need to find a camera that is on your VMS supported list that supports digital I/O. I agree, but I do have some flexibility, this system is still on design/testing state, I will be using OEM hikvision cameras writing to a NAS, and I can choose a software for alarm notifications an daily reviews. I have been trying Axxon Next and I have been able to eliminate most of the bugs false alarms, but still it pick up a few bugs at night. -

Sounds great, but those cameras are expensive. I do not have any problem running the wires for the 12 V and I think is nice to be able to control how much distance to cover with the motion detector. -

I was thinking more like using an standalone PIR like the optex LX-402 connected to an input alarm of a camera. -

Than you for your answers. For what I am reading, in theory it should be an easy setup, but that is why I was asking about a known working solution. What PIR + Cameras are people using? -
Don't know how, but is working now, I have tried many, many settings. This software is confusing, but the more I play with, the more I like it. LOL

I have been playing around with Axxon Next and I have to say that is difficult to setup, but once is setup it seen to work. I am having an issue with recording/archive, it looks like it record at a very low fps, like 0.5 or 0.66 fps, even though is setup to record at 15 fps. I read, this may be a known issue when the cameras are detected as ONVIF and video compression is H.264, but I want it to know if anybody have this issue and knows a work around. I have opened a support ticket with Axxon. I am using Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I OEM cameras (Dyretek NC-KBU32)

I found this on the Axxon documentation, but I don't think I can change this settings on these cameras. Attention! When a video stream with inter-frame compression (MPEG4 and H.264) is downsampled, only the key frames are preserved. This can cause a large decrease in the frame rate in recorded video (to 2 - 3 fps). If this occurs, we advise you to use such codecs as MJPEG and Motion Wavelet.
