I've been doing a 16 camera install for a large non-profit retail store; 4 analog outdoor dome cameras, 12 analog indoor dome cameras. I've installed a 16 ch power supply, and 16 ch DVR, and run Cat5e and passive baluns. I've got about half the cameras installed and working. So far, so good. But... I possessed no experience when starting the installation. I've been doing my level best to do things correctly, but I honestly have no idea if I'm doing them correctly. Instead of asking dozens of questions here, is there a "best practices" book / guide / manual I could reference? Are there courses to take? Where would I find out where/when those are held? Question: if I'm doing a horizontal conduit run to a camera, in what order do I perform the following: Rigid conduit assembly (e.g., affixing contiguous 10' lengths to one another, attaching 90 degree turns, etc.) Conduit installation into masonry with 2 hole straps Fish tape to pull Cat5 cable For example, should I start to affix section by section to the wall, then attach contiguous sections and attach those, then run fish tape down partial length (heading TOWARD camera)? I have the Gardner Bender staple gun using 1/4" staples -- I feel like I'm crimping down on the cable sometimes when I drive a staple. Is this a huge problem (if I don't pierce power supplying wires)? Is there a better / still convenient way to secure siamese cable on a long run? Thanks! -Sean in DC (noob)
