  1. Hi everyone, What is the difference between the Dahua IPC-HFW4300S V2 and the Dahua VS IPC-HFW4300S ? What is the difference with V2? Thanks!
  2. As long as your 48V POE injector is 802.3af standard it will power the Dahua IPC with POE. As for the curved view it is due to your bullet & mini dome having a lens size of 3.6mm or below whereby your Dahua PTZ minimum lens view is 4.7mm. There is no magic that comes with varifocal, it's the adjustment that counts. If you set your varifocal to 2.8mm it will be worst than your dome(in terms of curved image) Thank you for the thorough response, so if I may ask above what mm setting is "normal"? I hate the curved look, asides from the PTZ magic what should I look for in the future? Thanks, Jeff
  3. Hey everyone, First, thank you to everyone here who contributes so, so much and in such a timely fashion. Ever since I discovered Dahua, I'm astounded coming from Panasonic BL-XXX cams with either 640x480 or 1280 x 720. Quickly, before anything can a PoE injector which someone mentioned here is 48v acceptable in place of a power supply rated at 12v for a Dahua Camera? I have several Dahuas MiniDome 2MP 1 Bullet IP66 2MP 2 Speed Dome 2 MP 20x optical 1 Now, if I buy a 3MP camera Dahua what does that really give me in terms of better resolution of an object 200 feet away? I know Dahua has a newere PTZ with defogger and 30x optical, Are there any PTZ cameras with higher than 2MP resolution and greater than 30x optical available? Also, with the bullets and the mini dome, the edges are "curved" whereas with the PTZ it's like WOW. Is this where varifocal comes in allowing a narrower view but no curviness? Am I on the right track here? Is varifocal taking apart the assembly and manually adjusting the lens? Thanks again, jeff
  4. But isn't that the purpose of PoE? So PoE injector in addition to the power transformer I'm using now to transmit power over cat5e or instead of? I will try your idea though, but how come the mini dome by the same company worked? EDIT****** Problem Solved, Took 12v 1000ma power adapter from netgear router ..same specs but four times the weight and same connector barrel...hooked it up, and now power from pole to house and browser, success!!!! Thanks though, Jeff
  5. Hi everyone, Here's an anomaly, Next to my Dahua IP PTZ 20x optical beast on a utility Pole I added a 2MP Dahua IP66. When I configured it inside my house it worked perfectly, but over the 100 foot run no signal. I took a dahua Mini Dome over that same drop and it's perfect, I just upgraded the firmware to the latest too. Took the IP66 back in the house plugged it in router prefect again. IP66 Bullet Back on the pole with that same drop that works perfectly with the Mini Dome and poof, no signal. What can this be? Defective camera over long lengths? Ironically upon setup in my house, I turned off infrared, tested it in darkness and no infrared. On top of pole, despite NO signal in browser staring in the dark at the IP66 2MP bullet on the pole, the infrareds were ON, go figure. Tech support briefly suggested a stronger power supply than the 12v 1000ma, maybe a 12v 2000ma though that same power supply (12v 1000ma) powered the mini dome for 100 feet. Thanks, jeff
  6. Got it up and running, amazing. I've been using webcams since 1996, serial port devices, usb then IP cameras. Linksys, Panasonic, but Dahua? the best. I'm speechless, I thoroughly tested it indoors, works flawlessly. Tomorrow, it carefully gets hung on top of a utility pole. The only two connections being Cat 5 and power. Simply awesome. I guess future generations will be double the 2MP resolution and double the 20x optical. Again, simply breathtaking and a big thank you to the great people in this forum who took the time out to help me. Again, thanks, Jeff
  7. Thank you!! So, I'm going to take the 2 of the 3 wires wires coming from the camera one of which is Black which is also 24v,and Red which is 24v and connect those to the two back wires on the AC transformer block which has two black wires and just tape or cap off the GREEN (ground) coming from the camera? right? Lastly is a 150 foot run ok for 18/2 and Cat 5? Thanks, Jeff If the 24v 3000ma transformer is listed as AC then any way you connect it is fine, only DC have to be careful with the + -.
  8. I just read your informational post Shockwave after I responded to buellwinkle, I might mention too that on the power adapter wire there is no color, both leads are black, so does polarity on the power supply side matter? Thank you, jeff
  9. Hi, Just spent around $1,500 for a Dahua SD6982A-HN Outdoor IP PTZ camera. I'm a bit confused, other Dahua mini dome or bullets were easy, everything went through cat 5 including power. With this there is RS485, dip switches under the dome, a 24v 3000ma transformer with bare ends. Do I need RS485?, coming out of the dome there is black, red and green for power but only two bare wires from transformer; how do I connect power? If anyone is familiar with this camera, help would be appreciated. Thanks, jeff
