I'm recovering data using a usb drive, directly from the DVR, but the problem with that is: 1) I changed the DVR and issued them a new one and they retained the HDD 2) I recently got hold of the HDD, but every time i try to put it into a new DVR, the same model, it asks me to format it. I'm getting a bay to plug the HDD into my laptop to see if i can get something from there, As for the date and time, yes it was set right when it was installed. I've connected it to the smpt server so it fetches the date automatically. Also, the date is correct right now. Thanks for the reply. It's a bank's data, so it's quite critical, so would appreciate all the advice i can get.

The DVR i'm using, KOCOM shows that it's recording data in the UI, but when i try to check for playback, the playback starts at a later date, although the HDD status for the date i want shows it has recorded data. This is critical data that might have to be used as evidence, but i can't seem to get the backup. My client really needs the data. Any and all help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm using a Kocom DVR, and i need to be able to monitor the cameras from an external network. I read up a lot on the topic and have come up with two ways i can do it. I can either get a public ip, which i would have to pay for, and forget about it. OR, i could do it through services such as dyndns, no-ip, and ddnscctv.com or acecctv.net. I have extensively read up on port forwarding and since the DVR's client port is 7620 and the HTTP port is 81, i have been successfully been able to forward these ports. (verified by canyouseeme.org). Since Dyndns and no-ip need constant registration and are paid features, and also because my DVR comes with a free and automatic ddnscctv.com recommendation, i went with that. I can access my DVR over the local network via IE, but i can't get to it from outside my LAN. What am i doing wrong? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated

Also in the DVR, i've enabled DDNS...here's what it looks like: DDNS TYPE: ACECCTV.NET Enable :YES Domain Name: xxx.ddnscctv.com Username: asdfghh (Should i put the DVR user name and password or the username and password i registered for at ddnscctv.net???) Password : ******* This is where everything goes haywire. When i put in the domain i just registered at ddnscctv.com, i get a timed out message. The DVR's local private ip is 192.168.1.2, which is the ip i used when i forwareded the ports. When i created the domain at ddnscctv.com or acecctv.com, it gives me an ip which is probaby for the domain so it can be static. I'm not a networking expert or even a computer expert at that, but what am i doing wrong??? Someone please help!!

Hello All, I've worked with analog CCTV cameras in Nepal, for about 10 years now. The groundwork for fiber has just been laid and i have several requests for installing surveillance using fiber optics now. I have absolutely no idea on how the camera goes from already laid 32 core fiber point to the DVR. Could someone please explain to me, how the cabling works with Fiber Optics, when installing CCTVs. Also, what are other accessories required? I've been asked to do an installation in about a week. A quick response wound be much appreciated. Thank You!

That could be possible. Thank you for the suggestion, i will check on that. Also, cameras that are recording continuously also are having the same problem. Another problem with the DVR is, it only supports 2TB HDD/slot with 4 slots, would you think an external HDD solution would be possible?

Thanks for the reply, But, my problem is, the same DVR, at the same settings with the same storage capacity HDD gave more days of storage, and somehow, its acting random now, Even after installing a new hard drive. Question: How liable is HDD corruption/damage, with power failures, and what else can cause bad sectors? Also, can anyone recommend some non-network solution for Storage for huge amounts of CCTV footage? Much Obliged

Thats exactly what i mean when i say shrink. The Video Storage Capacity decreases drastically after a few days/ weeks. I tested two DVR's with the same cameras, the same FPS, the same compression and exactly same motion/schedule/manual recording. Is there anything else that determines HDD space occupied by the video? Its a H 2.64 compression, we record at 25 FPS (regulated) at full D1 capacity. Any ideas?

Thank you for the reply, But i deal in Kocom Electronics from Korea and also use IP cameras, but with integrated DVRS and have never experienced this problem. What do you think causes the hard drive capacity to shrink, randomly. Even in brand new 4TB hard drives. Also, What are some other on site storage solutions, that can be used. Hello, After four years of use, on a H2.64 compression, my HDD recently has started to deteriorate randomly. Even after installing a brand new HDD, the results are mixed. Some DVR's of the same model offer larger storage whereas some are ridiculously low. The maximum storage HDD available in the market is 4TB, which is usually not enough for the requirement of banks that have 24/7 surveillance. Please advise. Thank you!!
