    need help choosing a camera

For out door use I recommend couple of wired cameras for under or about $100 which have worked real well for us in past and I think they should work well for your home application. Vandal/Armor camera iVandIR420SN and for bullet try iIR420SN you can check the quaility. http://www.ilinkpro.com/demo/demo.asp?nav=demo&pg=demo Demo 1 camera 14 is iIR420SN and on Demo3 camera 1 is iVandIR420SN. I recommend you check out the demo which will give you good understanding on what you may or maynot want. Regards, Sajaan

    ir camera

Halo effect is usally created for one of two reasons: 1. if the black form around the lens is not pulled up all the way touching the glass will create a halo and the fix is to open it up and move the black form all the way front touching the glass. 2. camera is not weatherproof or is install over the limit of what it can handle and the air or the heat is getting inside the camera or the camera is not sealled properly to meet weatherpoof specs... Try getting iIR550VFDNSN or for little bit lower budget try iIR420SN camera. Hope this helps.... Sajaan
  3. I would prefer PC based DVR over Standalone since PC Based provide alot more flexibility over Standalone... We sell iLink Professionals fully configured PC based DVR kit which uses Avermedia DVR cards and seem to work great and gives you option to Pick MJPEG, MPEG4, H264 for each camera and it comes with built-in POS Integration for most PC Based or ASCII/Ansi POS/Cash register...System can handle more then 1T storage and also comes with CM3000 basic which allows you to connect 16 DVRs 256 cameras and CM3000 Advanced version which you can purchase for small fee allows you to connect 1000 DVRs. They have live demo on there website I suggest you check them out. Majority of the popular Adult clubs and alot of night clubs in Atlanta use the same system.
  4. If you are talking about eMAPs to work with most DVR then you should be able to use gif, jpg, or BMP format file(at lease that is true with Avermedia and iLink Professionals DVR and I am sure it's the same with Geo if they have that feature) and that can be created by Paint Brush that comes free with windows or do a search on the net for free graphics program... Also, if you have MS office it installs MS photo editor...

  6. Yes, i have one of those beacon kit sitting in my office... It's not bad but you can only watch one camera at time... It's been a while I looked at it... what information are you looking for? maybe I can hook it up again for you.

    HUPER DVR

I have tested HuperLab's DVR card and they are not bad... Far as standard security point of view they are not as good as Geo and Aver but for certain application they are not bad... Alot of the features that Huber has are not in Geo and Aver and I recommend anyone who doesn't know the features that HupberLab offers then they should really visit there web site... Yes, I been told the samething about people who made Huper are x-employees of Geo which i hear all time where soo many of Geo's employess have left and started making there own or came out with simlar card as Geo (very confusing-Thank god we dont' use Geo anymore). We did not make the move to Huper because for majority of security application Geo and Aver works really well but while back we made the move from Geo to Avermedia as we found aver's DVR were alot more stable, easier to use (from end-user's point because at the end of the day those system are use by Eng-User not techs agian not all the time but for the most part) and Aver's DVR brought in alot less support calls... Sorry I am not trying to put any company down but trying to present the facts based on our experiance and from what I have heard from our dealers who used Geo before. Regards, Sajaan

Publishing "dealer" pricing on a site?

I agree with Tom on this... I wouldn't suggest having prices listed on Web site below MAP price... For dealers you can have login and have lower price and most shopping cards do provide that feature. I don't know about Geo retailers because I here soo many different stories specailly since alot of e-tailer sale duplicate geo cards making it harder for Geo to enforce MAP price which they should have implemented years ago.
  9. You might also want to check out Avermedia NV3000 which are very reasonably priced compare to other AUTHENTIC cards and I have found that NV3000 to have all the feature that you would ever wnat/need and is very very easy to use and STABLE. Regards, Sajaan
  10. I have used Avermeida's 7000 Series Hardware compression boards and they work real well however, they don't have 32 channels board as of now. Yo Regards, Sajaan
  11. Hello Austin, In version 5.7.0.0029 you can make those changes from the software under alarms and you do not have to change any thing in registry... Also, this new version has alot more features specailly related to alarms, missing or suspicious object detection, etc... If you have your CD-Key you can download the updated software from: http://www.ilinkpro.com/support/downloads.asp?nav=support&pg=downloads free of charge. Regards, Sajaan
  12. I know the PTZ preset works great with DSS & Avermedia card without any I/O box or card and if you like you can try it out for yourself. Go to http://www.cctvmegastore.com/livedemo.asp click on Demo 1 which has camera 5 and camera 16 are PTZ camera. Select the camera 5 and on left sight click on PTZ Menu button. User name for that site is demo and password is ndvr which is also listed on that site but they do have 5 mins limit... Using Preset over the remote viwing is a basic function and they should work as long as they are manufatured by good company ... Regards, Sajaan
  13. 1. They do have CMS3000 which allows you to connect 16 DVRs upto 256 camera available and you can download it from www.iLinkPro.com. Also, download the most updated software for NV5000 which works great!!! from that website but you will need the CD-Key which should have came with your DVR Card CD. Same key will work. 2. There is a way to min. your screen on server by clicking on power button on lower left corner and click on min. button. With new release you can also launch the server in Silent mode. 3. Avermedia recommends the most upto date patch from microsoft for XP but you can check FAQ on http://www.aver.com/dvr/support/support.html. i don't think they any thing like that... 4. I don't think they have that feature available but would be a good recommendation for Avermedia I hope Wendy reads this and I will also email them these recoemmendation for next release. I know you can have "I am alive alert every night and also on Video loss, Hard Disk fail, & POS text". 6. I have made a move from Geo to Aver long time ago as I have fund that Aver is much easier to use for end user because @ the end of the day it's the end user who will be using it and alot more stable. I have also install close to 8 thousand Aver DVR after givig up on Geo few years go. Hope this will help you save your investment on Aver board. Best regards, Sajaan

    DigiCam 120

I just check www.123xxx.com and from the screen cap. it looks like DSS1000 card with Digicam Logo. You might want to download updated software from www.iLinkPro.com and check out the FAQ under support/iLinkEye FAQ. Do you have three of those board in one systems?

    Lightning and metal building

I have two recommendations for you: 1. make sure you are using RG59 cable with Cooper not RG6. 2. Invest into getting Video and Power Surge Protector: One I have used worked great in past which is little expensive but worked great: http://www.ilinkpro.com/proddetail.asp?prod=ISPVP Best regards, Sajaan
  16. Personally I dont' recommend running 32 cameras on one pc. I agree with CameraGenius recommendation get two system with 16 ports since the price for PCs have gone down soo much. My recommendation is to go to [link removed by mod] who has great Avermedia card that let you u do 640x480 or 720x480 on all channels and also comes with FREE CM3000 software that will let you connect 16 DVRs / 256 Cameras and you can view 64 cameras at the sametime... Here is the link to CMS3000: [link removed by mod] for more details. there is also a link on that page to download a free copy. Sajaan
  17. Yes, I have used those DVR cards in past and you can download the drivers from the download section of http://www.iLinkPro.com . it's listed towards the bottom DSS 4.3xxxx . there is also a 4.7 version out for that card but from what i can tell with your dell system 4.3 will work the best. Most likely the card you are using are discontinue but just in case if you do have one of the new one which are know as DSS NV series then you will have to download one of the drivers listed above on the same site (www.iLinkPro.com) how ever NV 3000 / 5000 DVR cards are the best card I have ever seen after using Geovision, kodicomm, etc. but NV series card do require little bit more resource on PC.
  18. Is that an IP camera? if it is IP cameras check out http://www.iLinkPro.com because there DVRs support CCTV and IP cameras...
