streaming your dvr to a backup drive while you record it

is there a way to make a dvr's active recording also stream to another hard drive on the network? i have a cheap ebay dvr and it's going to be remote to my house. i want to run 4 cctv camers. i can run them by putting separate siamese cables all the way to the house. i'd prefer to run a single ethernet cable that hooks to the output on the dvr. then i can keep the dvr close to the cameras. thanks for any suggestions.
