Hi, I’m new at this DVR technology, I did a little Research before buying one and Realized that it was going to be a hard decision I started off with a DVR in mind and thought maybe a hybrid DVR might be a better pick. But now I am seriously thinking that for the long term investment, flexibility, and options I might be better off getting an NVR since I would most importantly like a system that will be upgradeable in the future and that won’t become obsolete so soon. Now correct me if I am wrong, but I think you can use analog and IP cameras on the NVR and it has the same features as a DVR. I do know that IP cameras might be twice as expensive. My problem is which NVR would be the best I am looking for the best Play Back Recording Quality and Remote viewing. I want to start off with 8 cameras some analog and some IP cameras. I want to have 2 IP cameras in location A, B and 4 Analog cameras in location C where I plan to have the NVR stationed being able to access the net to view the IP cameras in location A, B from locations C with a PC and a PDA from all three locations. I currently have DSL in all three locations, but I believe I would need a static IP address. I would like to be able to record at least 4-5 days of continuous recording
I don’t want a DVR Card system I would prefer a NVR stand alone Unit from a well known brand name that carries good tech support if possible since I’m a novice at this. I have come across three systems so far:
Toshiba NVR series 16 Ch. 500GB
Panasonic WJ-ND300
Bosch VIDOS-NVR Network Video Recording System
Can someone elaborate on the Bosch VIDOS-NVR I believe it’s a server and you install software onto your own computer to communicate with the IP cameras and server not to sure?
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or someone to point me in the right direction in reference to an NVR. Thank you in advance.
