purchase exacqvision

Well you should look a the recorded video as this is where Avigilon blows away Exacq. Also for one or 4 cameras HDSM is not that important on your LAN but when you have 50+ cameras it becomes very important. PM AK357 as might log in a give you the full demo which will show you how well it works. can you give me an example of how avigilon blows away exacq in the recorded video? all i care to see is 1080p video being recorded, how can one system be better than the other at that? also, how do i get around the poor quality when viewing real time? 99% of the time i will be looking at real time footage. thanks for your input. edit- the cameras are 10/100, but the switch they are plugged into and the PC i am using for the NVR are gigabit and i have confirmed everything that should be gigabit has connected at gigabit speeds. -

i was in the single view and in the matrix view. i am not a fan of the program auto detecting my resolution and adjusting the camera feed. i did not look at any recordings once i noticed that the live view looked poor. exacq running on that same PC/resolution (trial, 1 cam license) doesn't limit the real time view. from what i have seen, exacq is easier to add a camera into the system and the user interface is more intuitive. again, i have been using exacq for many years and i know where most all the settings are, i am a little biased. -
i listed one of the reasons i want a PC based NVR. thank you for your feedback, but i am not looking for a standalone NVR.

Strange I have 100's HIK working with Avigilon with excellent picture quality Where are u located ? chicago. setting it up was not the most intuitive, in my opinion. but this is coming from someone who has been using exacq for 5+ years. -

http://avigilon.com/support-and-downloads/for-software/software-updates-and-downloads/ so far, not a fan of aviglion at all. picture quality doesn't look good, when i check the settings, quality is set to 1080p and quality was on 1 (best). doesn't look as good as it did in hikvision NVR or the browser. -

I would recommend find a dealer that will just sell you the parts/licenses you are looking for. This way you have someone to answer questions when you have issues. Also have you looked at Avigilon? It works great with Hik cameras and has no recurring costs unlike Exacq. i have read a little bit about avigilon, but i don't know much about it. can i trial their software w/o any limitations? what about cost? -

do you know how to configure it? edit- i think i figured it out...testing it now and i will report back. edit2- i was able to figure it out after some clicking on the camera setup page. if the camera supports multi-streaming, you can add a second view, select your resolution and other options, along with recording, or no recording, in my case and apply the settings. it does exactly what i was looking for. obviously on the client/remote client you will have to make sure you select the correct view/camera, but other than that, it works. there are a few minor things i think can be improved, but this is a big improvement. thanks for pointing me in the right direction. -

that is exactly what i want to do, but i can't seem to figure it out. how do i set this up? i want the local/LAN exacq box to display 1080p and record at the best setting and i want the remote user, which will use the client, to connect and get a reduced resolution. thanks. -

i have users who launch the client and everything is set for them. the web client needs more user interaction. they need to add a resolution limit or force resolution group for certain users, that would be great. if not that, then give me the ability to add a secondary stream to exacq. the secondary stream could be a lower quality resolution. that way, my main site records in full HD (or whatever is set by the admin) and the remote user on an air card or slow connection can still view the camera(s), but using a secondary feed, which would be set/hard coded via the camera itself. -
i'd like to use a dedicated PC. while i don't plan on using the PC for anything other than the NVR software, i like being able to remote into the PC to pull footage off of the video storage drive(s) and save it to the c drive so it doesn't get overwritten until i have a chance to review it or save it for later w/o having to burn it to cd/dvd. also, it is nice having a PC on site to get drivers/firmware/etc. thank you for taking the time to type out your suggestions, but i am looking for answers for a dedicated PC. thanks again.

i have 2 video clips i need to send to someone. they don't have geovision or the codecs required. i can remote into the PC where the files are at (i have them on the desktop), but i need to play them on a PC where i am at....different location. i installed the 32 bit remote playback program, but when the video plays the file name is red. i see it attempting to play (time and scroll bar move), but no video. do i need an older version of rdp? a newer version? is there a program that i can use that will play any geovision file? i need to make this as easy as possibly for the person that will be receiving this footage. thanks.

from the log view? i will give that a shot. the problem i am running into is that the program rpb (remote play back) has a setup.exe file that installs the software. when the user trying to install that file attempts to run the exe, it tells them it isn't compatible. it sounds like i still might have that issue with your method, but i will still give it a shot...you never know.

i am curious to hear if this works. i might be adding a synology nas (for other reasons) to a location that has a geovision system. if i could send the video to the NAS instead of the PC hard drives, that would be great. how is the geovision seeing the NAS storage? did you configure the synology with iscsi and add it as an iscsi drive in windows?

time to re-visit this thread. after i got the file working via my post, i didn't go back to re-visit the .wmv export. i gave some video to another person to view, along with the rbp program. when they click setup.exe, it tells them it isn't compatible with their OS. unless the .wmv export works, it is time for me to move away from GeoVision. i know i am not using the most up to date system, so that is partially my fault, but because the system works very well, it is hard for me to throw it away/upgrade. the newer VMS systems include a .exe when you export video and it has worked on xp, w7, w8/8.1 w/o any issues.

i am experiencing an issue with a 3 year old goevision system. custom built pc, legit geovision card (purchased from an authorized retailer where i buy all my cards), using a 30 inch tv as a monitor (vga port) and not the composite video out from the geovision card. everything has been working fine for about 3 years. the system is set to launch on start up, record, and go into full screen mode. a few days ago something odd happened. not sure if they are related or if maybe two things are happening... - all cameras show video lost (tested power supply, working, putting out 12 volts. if power is cycled (turning off the power supply) the cameras come back for about 15 seconds then it switches back to video lost. (exiting in and out of full screen mode doesn't do anything...continue to show video lost) - all cameras switch to black overlay on the cameras (no video lost is displayed) and you can see the camera names. DSP option is enabled (has a check next to it). if i exit full screen mode, i see the video feed come back. if i enter full screen mode, everything goes back to black. if i disable DSP, nothing happens. if i enabled it, nothing happens. the only thing that fixes it is to close geovision and open it back up. something to note: - 1 camera is bad. video flickers in and out and the picture is barley noticeable. i am not sure if the video signal from this feed is causing any issues with the two things i explained above. i am not on site and i can't unhook the connector, but i can login and disable it if i see the issue occur again. i want to leave it as is for testing/troubleshooting purposes, for now. thanks.

you guys recommend i switch from a centralized power source to individual power sources for each camera? that will require 16 outlets. i could see this for testing, but not for a permanent solution. thankfully this issue hasn't occurred since last week, if it has, the owner has not mentioned it. being that this is his only view of the cameras, i have a feeling he would tell me the minute it occurs, again. i do plan on going back to swap out the bad camera, but if this occurs again, i will log in and disable the bad camera.

Hi, this is a old thread. Today Geovision is an old software and DVRs/NVRs are a better solution. They don't have Windows operating system and are more stable (without blue screen of death, memory leaks, virus and all of this MS-Windows problems). Power consupsion is lower too. Best regards. gamba47 let me get this straight. if i buy a brand new system i will be able to go onto the computer with geovision multivew and edit the original entry to something else??

i noticed on new versions of IE, connecting to GeoVision over the web browser looks different. it doesn't work like it did in the past, with older versions of IE. i am now asked to download quicktime, as if i were viewing in firefox. anyone else run into this problem?
-
thanks, this worked.
-
yup, i am having the same issue that you are having. i can add another server and click the drop down and select the server, but i can't edit/delete the original entry. i do see an edit button, but that is a temporary edit, it doesn't save the value that i enter in after pressing edit.

i have installed the geovision remote app on several iphones on the att network, geovision works great on the phones.
-
those of you who are using TV or other remote connect applications are not doing it right. sure, it might work, but that is not the proper way to do it. how is the video quality (motion of the cameras)? you need to use the remote geovision application or the web server to remote in to view the feeds, it is designed to work better when the right applications are being used.
-
i didn't know you could export as wav. interesting. i ended up downloading remote viewlog program from the DVR (via browser) and copied the files from c:\windows\geovision\remoteview and put them on a CD. the program that worked was viewlog500.exe. i tested on another windows xp machine that has never seen geovision files and it did work. i need to look into the export as WMV option a bit more. that might be a lot easier, in the future. normally i never need to give the video to anyone. they typically look at video events on the DVR. thanks.

i have a handful of systems (all different versions) and they all seem to keep some old folders with 1 or 2 video files inside. for example, it has no problem storing footage, but if i open the folder where files are recorded to, i can go back to june of 2013 and see a few files still hanging around. thanks
