Its normal for empty folders to hang out for a while in my experience, they will dissappear eventually. On the other hand if there is video files in the folders that are not recycling and not showing in ViewLog that would indicate database corruption. ok i will keep an eye on it. i am almost positive i have seen the view log be 100% accurate but that folders from 9 months ago are still sticking around. i find that odd, but maybe it isn't...? thanks.

i purchased a new drive, put it in the system, setup GeoVision to record to the new drive, closed the program, ran the program with the additional check boxes, it did take longer. i let it record for 1 week and i still have folders that are empty that it isn't recycling. thanks.
-
ok, i will try that and see if it shows files/more info. thanks.

by default, reserve never-recycle flag is checked and rebuild all information is not checked. i do see my default path is accurate, i won't mess with that. it took about 5 seconds to run (recording to a small drive) and said it was complete. i didnt see any missing files show up. thanks.

they do not pop up in the view log. i don't want to manually delete, i'd rather run the utility and hopefully that cleans up the folders/files. the only thing i need to do is run the db utility? when should i see the file delete? should i check back in 24 hours? thanks.

why is iscsi needed? a geovision pc can't see a mapped drive? Not sure if it can or can not. I like iSCSI and have found it it to be easy to setup and works reliably. understandable and nothing wrong with that. i wouldn't bother with iscsi unless it was needed or there was a benefit to using it.

Geovison Fisheye cameras being remote viewed from a I Pad
tomdlgns replied to GEOguy's topic in Geovision
i agree with mgb do you need help with setting up the geovision system for remote viewing capabilities? the ipad/ios app requires specific ports to be opened in order to work. also, some changes need to be made to the local geovision server. i can tell you what that is, but i will wait to hear back to see if that is what you are looking for. -
right click on Internet Explorer, run as admin (the first time), navigate to your geovision IP (or ddns hostname if this is off network) and let it go through all the downloads again.
-
why would you need to re-install geovision? add/upgrade the drives that are used for video storage, leave the main drive with geovision as is. is the system 64 bit? you will have issues with those drive sizes with a 32 bit OS. edit- the 32/64 bit is only an issue if you are using windows xp OS. what OS does the geovision pc run on?
-
why can it only record to NAS via iscsi? you can't map a drive to a \\nas-share? mapping a drive would allow you create a drive letter for the drive (e:, g:, etc....) Geovision wouldn't see that?

i am looking for a NLOS (non line of sight) transmitter/receiver setup that will send analog video from a field unit to home base where the video system is recording the rest of the cameras on the property that are physically wired in. the field unit is approximately 1200 ft away from home base (that is probably the furthest it would ever be. 90% of the time the field unit will be in direct LOS, but i would like to set it up as a NLOS system, if one exists, just in case the 90 changes to 80%, 75%, etc... what is the best frequency for this? 5.8? 900? i am hoping someone has experience with wifi, on here. Thanks.

if anyone happens to read this topic and has also read my other question regarding winxp 32 bit to 64 bit, they are two different jobs, not related... i am looking to build a brand new system, anything i need to watch out for? the facts -win7 64 bit OS -4 GB Ram, minimum -gv 1480 b can i get away with on board video card for the monitor? another possibility might be to have a dual video card (dedicated RAM) and give the client two monitors...mirroring the display, not extended desktop. does anyone know if this will cause issues or does the gv card not care that it is being sent to two monitors? i imagine that the gv card doesnt care because the video card will be doing all of the work. they would only need the active monitor on the PC when they want to review something, they dont have a problem with unplugging the VGA cable going to the office and temporarily plugging in the VGA in the storage room to view the playback. there would be some manual work, but they are ok with that (they already have two monitors, 1 can be left in the storage room where the DVR lives and the other will be the full time monitor in their office. this is the card i am looking at: gv 1480 b http://www.worldeyecam.com/store/geovision-gv-1480-16-channel-dvi-combo-digital-video-recording-dvr-surveillance-card-with-version-v8.3-complete-webcam-software-suite-included.html these are the two things that i have to keep in mind Note: 1. GV-1480B does not support the TV-Out function. 2. GV-1480B is currently not compatible with VIA series and ATI series chipset motherboards.

thanks, i think i am going to give this a shot. do you notice any ghosting? edit- i see that you said there is no video loss, i am not sure if ghosting falls under that category. thanks.

gv card with win xp 32 bit----upgrade to 64 bit OS
tomdlgns replied to tomdlgns's topic in Geovision
thanks. i suppose i could upgrade to win7 64 bit, but at this point it isnt worth it (other issues, i dont want to expand on them). thanks. -
Do I actually need a geovision card? For GV IP cameras
tomdlgns replied to milkisbad's topic in Geovision
This is incorrect. Geovision NVR software will happily run without a DVR card (since it's designed to and has done for the past 8+ years). my mistake, i didnt realize there was NVR software, as well. i thought it was all bundled under the regular, analog card/software. thanks for clearing that up, never good to give wrong info. -

Do I actually need a geovision card? For GV IP cameras
tomdlgns replied to milkisbad's topic in Geovision
it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. you cant run the geovision software w/o the card (unless something changed in the last few years, that is the last time i bought a new card). correct, the NVR is not needed if you are going to save to a NAS or some other network storage, but not all IP cams are compatible with NAS units and all CMS software, as long as you research that ahead of time you should be ok. -
i have a few laptops with windows 8 64 bit OS. i would like to view the cameras with the multiview program but i am having an issue installing the software on the laptops with windows 8. no issues with windows xp or windows 7. (actually, i did have a minor issue with windows 7, but one of my two methods worked, i will explain below). -method 1- start internet explorer with admin privillages navigate to the dvr via browser download plugins/active x download the multiview program launch multiview and set up he program (user, site names, etc) -method 2- use the CD that came with the DVR card and attempt to install it from the CD in windows 8, i was getting an error saying that the software wasnt compatible with my OS. i got this same method with 64 bit windows 7 OS's, but method one worked for me. method 1 is not working for me with windows 8. however, i also think that Internet Explorer 10 has something to do with it, now. i suppose i could try rolling back to IE 9, but that will be a temporary fix. at some point, IE 10 will become the default browser on new hardware and i will be in the same scenario. any recommendations? thanks.
