create a user under, system configure, password setup, local account edit. that is where i create all my users that login at other sites (via IE and multiview/client programs). that should solve your problem.

what brand IP camera recording software are you guys using? i have used Exacq IP camera software, but that was for a large company that had $$$$ to spend on a system. i am interested in seeing some of the lower priced software options/solutions. i have used blue iris in the past, but i am not a fan of their interface. it could be that i am spoiled by Excaq (anyone who has used it will know what i am talking about). thanks.

IP camera software

What do you want the browser to do? They have different permission levels, so you can control who has access to what. You can view multiple cameras at the same time in playback mode and scrub the timeline and all the cameras scan in unison to quicky find the event you are looking for, works really well. I would also recomend Axis and Mobotix but will definately be out of the price range, both come with free CMS software and the cameras do the motion detection and recording. are you saying it has a webserver to view the cameras or the entire program is located in the web? i prefer a program that acts as a client to show cameras/manage the program. i like for the program to have a built in web server that can be used from a remote location to view the cameras OR install the client at the remote site to connect in and view the cameras, assuming the proper ports are opened in the firewall. -

IP camera software

not sure, depends on what software i decide to go with. not all cameras are compatible with all software. i know that the cameras i want to implement will have to have the following features: -poe (no additional power, i have worked with some outdoor poe cameras that had a powerful heater in them and it required more power than poe could provide. i knew this before buying the camera and i was ok with it due to the location of the camera, poe wasnt a benefit to me for that site/camera) -dome (maybe mini dome) (they are being installed in an area that has a drop ceiling, but some parts of the building only have 2-3 inches of space above the tiles) -i'd like to keep it around $250 per camera, but i know that is a stretch -720p would be nice -no glitch/slow frames (i have seen $300 IP Cams look like garbage in the video recording software (live view, not recording, i know you can adjust the recording view quality/frame settings) yeah, probably a tall order. the only thing i have in my favor is time, i dont need to do this tomorrow, there is a current solution in place, but i do know that going forward i want to move away from analog and upgrade to ip and unless a camera completely blows out and needs to be replaced, i am done spending money on analog cameras. -

i understand, but they are old and worn out, if that makes sense. no sense in spending money on getting them into an ip system, i'd rather spend the money on decent IP cameras and a PoE switch. thanks. -
IP camera software

hmmm, no i dont think so. switching to ip. ip means bye bye analog. edit- i am not looking to convert analog to ip. analog would go away and ip would be brought in. -

looking to migrate away from analog. alot of the cameras are old and they are cheap. they currently do the job, which is why the upgrade isnt happening unless i can get decent pricing. -

IP camera software

i stated in my first post that i did not like blue iris What, just based on what the interface looks like? I have been using Blue Iris for 2 + years now. Yes the interface isn't slick looking. But, feature wise and bang-for-your-buck, Blue Iris blows many solutions away. I would take features over how the interface looked any day. based on how exacq operates and geovision operates. i also have to think of the end user using the software. thanks. -
IP camera software

i stated in my first post that i did not like blue iris i will look into zoneminder for other projects, but for this project it has to be windows only. i will also look at milestone. the current PC is a geovision PC that runs windows that is primarily used only for DVR recording. there are times that the user will minimize geovision to send/read an email. this is a small site, the computer use is very minimal, but is needed at times. exacq or another windows based client would allow the user to minimize the camera/client GUI and use the PC as a normal PC (again, minimal use). where are the online resellers of exacq? will they sell to end users? thanks. -

anything similar to those types of IP camera programs that are available to end users that you might know of? -

can i purchase that directly from a store online w/o being a company (do they sell to end users)? i downloaded a copy of exacq and i received an email from their 'team' and i asked them if they sold to the end user and they said no. i have no problem with exacq if all they charge is for IP cam licenses and even a small charge for their software, but they dont deal with end users. thanks. -
do you know alot about the SPS2000? i was logged into the sps2000 and under the program mode. i dont recall exactly what options i was looking at, but i remember seeing the thermal printer set/configured on the screen. i clicked to create a secondary printer and some of the options were pretty obvious...name, com port are the only ones i remember seeing.

i am looking to add text overlay into my geovision DVR from a Sam4s SPS2000 POS system. this states that it is compatible with but at the bottom of the page it has a list of POS systems it works with. http://www.cctvsecuritypros.com/pos-dvr-gv-cash-register-data-inserter-gv-pos.html has anyone used the POS text overlay inserter?
-
i emailed their support and got a very quick reply EDIT- i replied back asking him if anyone has asked about the Sam4s SPS 2000. his reply

i don't have anything right now, looking to add it to my current POS system.

where are you trying to connect from...local network or off site? what ports did you open up? are you sure all the proper ports are opened up in your router/firewall? edit- i am using android, iphone, ipad, the web (Internet Explorer), and Multiview at one location. for gv-iview i opened up port 8866 and 5511 for everything else i opened up ports 81 (i run my geo server from port 81, not 80), 4550, 5550, and 3550 are those the ports you are using (you might be using 80 not 81, but let me know about the rest)?

i dont think this reply will help you, but would copying the files from the Geovision recording folder to a network share help/work until you find a solution to your problem? you could run a script that copies the recorded video (typically in 5 min increments) from the geovision dvr to a network share.

i don't think he was telling you to connect the molex power to IDE. i don't recall any cards i have worked with having a molex connector, but i am not a geovision expert, so maybe he can elaborate on that. you should have a CD with all the geovision software (comes with the card) and that CD contains the GV DVR software plus additional software that isn't needed, but can be installed on the main DVR system or other client computers (on that network or elsewhere) to connect back to the main site and view the camera feeds. do you have this CD?

for the record, all my cards were bought from authorized Geovision dealers, no fake cards here.
