  1. did you find the manual for the dvr? i keep seeing pople say the brand name and that it is capable of mobile access, but for me to continue helping, i'd like to see it right from the manufacture. unless the people that are helping you start confirming port numbers, user name, and password for mobile access. the IP address is DHCP so its dynamic IP. I aint got hold of the manual yet but should have it by thursday. Thanks for carry on helping me ok, if you have dynamic IP address you do need no-ip, unless tomcctv tells me what hot spot is. i know what the term hot spot is, but not sure how it correlates with dynamic and static IPs.

  3. most BT routers are now part of hotspot. so they dont change what is hot spot? does this guy have dynamic or static ip address from the ISP?
  4. you dont need no-ip with BT. have you loaded the app ?? why would he not need no-ip with bt?
  5. port 80 should not be a problem, but i like to get away from it as much as i can, since alot of devices default to port 80.
  6. ok, that is good to know. what i would do if i were him is throw the DVR on another port other than 80...i would use 81, 82, 88, etc...something other than 80. but if he does that, when he connects via web or mobile device, he will have to use the new port. ie, http://his_IP_address_orNo-IP-hostname:81 or 82 or 88 to connect.
  7. does the avtech dvr have/require specific ports for mobile access?
  8. i just connected and i think those are the settings for the DVR web server. you did all of that correctly, so that is a good thing. i still think there might be some settings, locally on the DVR, that you need to enable/change. let me know when you can get the manual, i will keep looking for it on google. on all of the analog DVRs that i have worked on, you had to turn on mobile view and you had to configure/open ports on the firewall. one dvr i setup had its own login for the web interface and its own login for the mobile interface...they are not all the same. this is why documentation is very important.
  9. the spec sheet does say it supports mobile devices. what mobile device do you have? do you have a link to the full manual, that spec sheet is just that...a spec sheet. I do but its not on me. Its at place where I have fitting these cctv cameras. But the manual does not state anything about mobile devices. And does not have anything under network settings. If I give you the public IP and the username and password then you can go to DVR config and have a look at the settings if you like to? sure, PM it to me.

  11. i am confused. you said you set your DHCP and then rebooted it and now they are static? dhcp- its automatic static- you set the values. did you set it to dhcp just to see what the settings would be? regardless, the DVR settings are fine, since you say it is working. DNS isnt an issue, but you can set that to point to the router, 192.168.1.254 what brand dvr do you have? does that brand have an app for your phone? i dont know about some of these other users on here, but i only configure mobile devices if there is an app for them (for analog cameras, that is). if there is an app for your phone, you need to install that app on your phone. however, the app might run on different ports than the web browser uses. for example, for GeoVision, it uses ports 80, 3550, 4550, and 5550 for browser view and multi view. for mobile view, geovision uses ports 8866, and another that i cant remember off hand. you need to figure out the mobile ports your DVR uses, if it has mobile view capabilities.
  12. How do I do that? I don't think it has network settings for mobile devices. The ports which I have allowed on my Hub on the picture above are the exact port settings on my DVR. My internet connection is setup as DHCP and my DVR is set as static IP, do you think that could be the problem? your internet connection, from the ISP, is probably DHCP. did you statically assign the DVR an ip address or is is pulling one from the router? are the proper ports open in your router/firewall for the outside world to see the DVR? honestly, there was some good advice in this thread and i was under the impression that the issue was resolved. lets go back to the basics... 1. what is the IP address of your router? 2. assuming your router does DHCP, what is the range 192.168.100-.150? you can see this information somewhere 3. have you statically assigned an ip address, subnet, gateway, and DNS server to the DVR? if not, we need to do this. lets start with those 3 and go from there. it doesnt matter what your PC settings are...leave those as is.
  13. do you have the proper ports open for mobile use? some dvrs have a port(s) for the browser and other port(s) for mobile devices.

    Not full Screen?

i am missing something, i must be. he is trying to get a larger picture on the second monitor? by default, on my systems anyway, i see a small box like that when i am under playback. that view can increase in size if you click on the magnifying glass icon (+) and then click on the playback image. of course, i am assuming i missed something.

    New Geovision user

gizzer, is your issue resolved? it has been stated already, but all new computers acceding your system from the web will always have to download the active x controls the first time. after that, they wont need to download anything if all they are doing is viewing the camera(s) feed.
  16. lots of good information in this thread, glad to see it worked. but i have a question, why would you guys recommend a LAN ip address that isnt valid? why would it not be valid ? 192.168.1.260? ip range is .0 to .255 windows wont even let you assign .260, it will give you the error/warning on the screen.

    1480 card

    anyone?

    1480 card

this card/question has no relation to the thread i started about identifying a DVR card in this forum. i just want to make that known so there is no confusion. i did the initial install at this site and i purchased all the hardware. i confirmed that this is a 1480 card and i have no issues with the geovision software, everything is running great right now. since this card is 2+ years old, i'd like to see if it is possible to update the software to take advantage of iphone, bb, and android geovision apps. this software doesnt have the mobile tab under the web server settings (v8.01). another geovision server i configured this on does have that tab, but that system is v8.32 i have access to geovision 8.5 software, but i want to make sure it will run with the card i have (1480). thanks.
  20. they are static IPs with public IPs? am i reading that right? Yes ok
  21. they are static IPs with public IPs? am i reading that right?
  22. agreed. however, i was under the impression that we were talking about public IPs and not something NATed.
  23. i had a wireless card from verizon about 2 years ago that gave me a public ip address and everything was open. i know this for a fact because the card was connected to a geovision PC and all i was able to connect to it from the internet...no ports no router, etc...nothing, just the card in the PC and connected with the connection software. our parent company uses AT&T and they are able to open a few ports on their cards AND change DNS servers. alot of wireless carriers (albeit it with certain cards) hijack/bypass the DNS servers used and redirect it to their DNS servers. i have had a long battle with Sprint regarding this issue and even made it to their highest tech support department before given the final answer. a really funny/interesting piece of information regarding that DNS issue is that i started a forum topic on another forum and the people on that board gave me a solution that required me to install some software on the PC (it installed as a service). the tech person told me he would give me a call back in a few hours/the next day. when he called me back, he told me he found an online discussion with a user that had the same issue as me. he proceeded to give me the url to the thread i started a few days prior. once i told him it was me, he that it was somewhat ironic/odd. just goes to show you that different carriers/equipment have different settings. sorry that i got off topic a bit.
  24. correct, i am not disagreeing with you, but it is not NEEDED as you say it is. by saying need, you are implying that you can't do it w/o a static ip address. that is wrong information. you should say something along the lines of... "a static IP address is not needed, but it is highly recommended."
  25. recommending a static ip address and saying that you need one are two different things. my vote is static, but in scenarios where static is not possible, DDNS is a great option. does it fail? i suppose it can. however, i have setup DDNS many times (and have been using it at home for 8+ years, w/o any issues. residential and even businesses with dynamic IP addresses from the ISP do not change as often as some people think they change. i have seen some dynamic account have the same IP address for 3-4 months before it changes from the ISP. thank you for letting me know that 4g from sprint is unlimited. the sprint devices that i have in place at work are not 4G ready and they are in remote areas that i am not always able to access (these devices have static IP addresses). when i upgrade these devices, i will do my best to make sure i find 4g ready equipment. i am not using the standard usb devices that sprint sells at all their stores, so finding what i need in 4g may not happen for a while.
