  1. Buy a Lorex system and install it yourself https://www.lorextechnology.com/
  2. You need the powerful CPU if you use the H.265 feature. It will cut your storage and network requirments in half. Why are you recording 24/7? Most people only record on motion. Aside from the huge storage requirements of 24/7 recording, if there is an incident that you have to research, you end up with many many hours of insignificant recordings to review to find the incident.

Time Jump in Security Cam Footage tampering or glitch?

most cameras record on motion. So it could just be that there is no motion in the missing time frame. Could also be a glitch, could also be someone removed footage. Unless you have access to the recording device you dont really know for sure.

Hi all new here, need some advise on cameras

    https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-dvr-security-system/4mp-hd-camera-home-security-system/MPX2K88-1-p
  7. As above said, you cant have both. Its either width or depth. Most homeowners are going to pick width. May use depth on a driveway to try and pick up license plates. The camera you linked to has 2.8mm lens, so it already has a very wide field of view, 110 deg. If you need 180 view, use 2 cameras side by side. Also, that camera is only 2mp. If you got a 4mp camera (twice as many pixels) you could zoom in with more detail.

    Purchase of NVR

For 2 wifi cameras I wouldnt even buy a NVR, just use your PC as the NVR. Just need software and add a hard drive.

    Opinions and Feedback Needed

If I were buying an all in one system today, thats probably what I would get. Just make sure the 83 deg field of view suits you.
  11. Put some type of shims behind camera to make up the 30 degrees? Did a google search on the camera, $1300 for a 720 camera?? Other than fitting in a corner, whats so special about this camera?

    CCTV Equipment Needed

What PTZ camera are you getting? What DVR do you currently have? Are you replacing the DVR or only the one camera?

Reverse use of wifi enabled camera system?

It would help if you could look on your DVR and provide a model number. If the DVR is not plugged in to your router, then it seems unlikely that someone has "hacked" it. Im not even sure how it would be possible.

Need Help Choosing a CCTV System

If you already have an IP system in place, that means you already have the cabling for IP, which is a good thing. Save up until you can afford something like this https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-ip-security-camera-system/hd-security-camera-system-with-2k-recorder-weatherproof-cameras/LN10802-84W-1-p

Need Help Choosing a CCTV System

$250 is not much. for a good IP system. I'd say save up for a while. How many cameras are you wanting? 8?
  16. Using a PC as an NVR is very common. But yes you need a software to handle the cameras. Not sure about Hikvision, but most of the good camera makers include software with purchase of camera. If you are going to utilize the H.265 compression, you'll need a pretty good computer (at least intel i5 6000 series or better.) You dont need a video card. If you are going to use 8MP cameras, Id recommend utilizing the H.265 technology. Whatever softare you pick should also have options for remote viewing on other PCs and smart phones.
  17. one possibility is that your switch is not on the same subset as your DVR. So if your DVR is 192.168.0.1, your switch must be 192.168.0.X. Some switches are plug and play, some have to be configured. Its also possible your DVR is the issue. Never used Zmodo before. I use a PC as the NVR/DVR and the cameras --> POE switch --> PC networking works fine.

    Geovision Dead in the UK?

Im not in the UK so cant really give you advice there. But the issue may be that Geovision has gone strictly IP. They still list the DVR cards on their website, but why would anyone buy one these days? The only HD analog equipment they offer is analog to HD converter, but not HD analog cameras. They are basically an IP camera manufacturer now.
  19. I dont think its that simple. Im not sure what device you have your AHD cameras connected to. You need some type of converter device like this https://www.amazon.com/Axis-Communications-0415-004-4-Channel-Encoder/dp/B0074ANCMW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499017434&sr=8-1&keywords=ANALOG+TO+IP+CONVERTER But be aware that it only provides you with one IP output. So the 4 cameras would be combined to into one camera channel. Also, your DVR is for 4 channels, so will the software allow you to see more than 4 channels? Dont know alot about this, hopefully someone more knowledgable comments.

Hi, looking for a good video security system

Install it yourself. There will be a learning curve and you'll make some mistakes. But when you are done, you will be better prepared to handle any problems yourself instead of calling the company to come out. https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-ip-security-camera-system/high-definition-security-surveillance-system-with-8-cameras/LN10802-168W-1-p
  21. I use geovision and they can accomplish all your goals. You would need to use geovision cameras though.
  22. I'm not familiar with softare costs for IP cameras. If you get an NVR, software is on the NVR. I use Geovision cameras and they come with free software. I suppose there are camera makers that do no include software so you would then have to buy software. IP addresses and port forwarding can apply to any form of cctv, Ip or otherwise. If you get a DVR, that DVR will have an IP address and could require port forwarding to view the cameras outside your network. Most DVR/NVR today make it pretty simple, often you just scan a QR code so sync up your phone and NVR. Hyrbid DVRs are nice if you already have older cameras that you want to continue to use. But since you are starting from scratch, no reason to go that route. Again, Im not saying there is anything wrong with HD analog or that you wouldnt be perfectly happy using it. But I can see senarios in future years where you may wish you could use a fancy IP camera for some particular application.

    GV-EBD4700 compatibility with GV 1120A PCI E

I dont think it has anything to do with your card. Its all about your software. You need to upgrade to 8.7.0. If the software still does not recognize the ebd4700, there is a patch to download to recognize the newer cameras. http://www.geovision.com.tw/download/product/ By the way I agree that the GV-EBD4700 is a great value right now at about $100 for a 4MP H.265 camera. You'll need a pretty recent Intel i series CPU to take advantage of H.265 compression though. A few years ago I was paying a few hundred dollars for 2/3mp Geovision cameras. Now with their target series, they have some really good prices. And I dont think there are newer cards anymore. Geovision doesnt seem to make DVR cards now, only IP cameras.
