image is blurred when capturing moving people
myiicu replied to ungovernable77's topic in Security Cameras
Most image sensors optimized for WDR or bright conditions are not good under low light conditions. Slow shutter/sense-up will cause motion blur. If you want no motion blur, a low light camera with fast shutter speed is the way to go. -
Need help with using Video Out from my DVR
myiicu replied to sgwellinc's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Connect a cctv camera directly into your tv a/v input to confirm that the input works properly. Also, use a meter to test the bnc to rca adapter. -

Samsung Snf-7010 360degree camera question.
myiicu replied to trauts14's topic in General Digital Discussion
Most 360 degree/fisheye cameras need a lot light to perform and do not work very well with IR. Hikvison has a new 6MP 360 degree/fisheye camera with built in IR, but how well it performs in low light is yet to be seen.. Here is a link to recent related thread. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=40305&hilit=fisheye -

The Paladin 8000 is my primary 3 piece BNC crimping tool. I use die #2034, 2045, 2653 for coaxial cable. For modular RJ45 connectors, I use AMP/Tyco modular plug hand tool and Sargent/Rostra 7500 series. For BNC and F compression connectors, I use Paladin 1555 SealTite Pro crimper.
-
Paladin's 1600 and 8000 series crimp tools are nice. 1600 series - 75,000 crimp cycles 8000 series - 50,000 crimp cycles Many die sets for RG58, RG59, RG174, mini-59, fibre optics, twisted pair, etc.

The dvr memory battery backup is usually a standard 3.0V lithium coin cell. CR2032 = 20mm dia. CR2330 = 23mm dia.

The Samsung SRN-1670D can handle internally 5 x sata hd and externally 2 x e-sata hd. The sata hard drive interface is a standard for computers. Server or security rated hard drives is recommended as it will be in use 24/7. https://www.samsung-security.com/SAMSUNG/upload/Product_Specifications/SRN-1670D_UserManual.pdf

If you want quality cctv, stay away from ebay! If you want to capture plates consistently and reliably in day or night, use a Bosch LPR camera. They have been in the LPR business for years. Here are two great entry level models rated for -30C. Bosch REG-X-816-XE approx. $600 http://resource.boschsecurity.com/documents/Data_sheet_enUS_1732568587.pdf Bosch VLR-4075-V521 approx. $500 http://resource.boschsecurity.com/documents/VLR_2075_Data_sheet_enUS_11271030539.pdf A choking point is required to slow the vehicle to 50mph or less. The LPR camera should be mounted no more than 5 feet above the ground (lower the better), face the licence plate directly, and be around 20 feet away. You will also still require a colour overview camera to capture other details such as make, model, color etc. Do a search on this forum "LPR" for tons of feedback and reading on the topic.

Mounting a camera behind glass is not recommended. Reflections and light leakage is difficult to control. Also, glass makes it difficult for a clean and professional look. An external mounted camera (dome or covert) with IP66 rating is best. Here is a related thread... viewtopic.php?f=53&t=31581

The Hikvision DS-2CD6412FWD-10 1.3MP Covert Camera news release and current spec sheet do not show a IP66 Rating. http://www.hikvision.com/en/Press-Release-details.asp?id=2617 http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2014011701303853008.pdf The Axis P1214-E is available today and is IP66 approved. http://www.axis.com/en/products/cam_p1214e/index.htm

Why would you choose hybrid surveillance system vs cloud
myiicu replied to atelyshev's topic in General Digital Discussion
The most secure system is a fully closed system. I choose no cloud!!! Long live the hard drive!!!... -
You could purchase the nvr and get a couple of cameras to get started. As you get more comfortable with setting up the first cameras for the front door and front yard, additional cameras can be added in the future. If you plan on sticking with Samsung for your cameras, then a Samsung NVR is recommended. Samsung's NVR should give you the best support of Samsung camera extra features such as alarms and motion detection. The Samsung SRN-1670D is about $1900 with 1TB internal HD. 1TB is ok for a few cameras, but plan on adding another internal HD when you get above 4 cameras..

1/3 mini cctv without IR = Pixim sensor or something else ?
myiicu replied to ungovernable77's topic in Security Cameras
If you want quality cctv, stay away from ebay. A standard lens will allow much more light to the sensor than a pinhole lens. This translates to a better low light image. A standard lens has more surface area for optical correction than a pinhole lens. This translates to a better overall image. Here's a true day/night mini camera module w/WDR http://www.ktncusa.com/750-tvl/700_tvl_module/wdr-module-camera -
Does the Panasonic WV-CP220 change from color to black and white in low light? The camera needs to be in black and white mode in order to see any IR. If camera stays in color mode, you have a problem with the cut filter...

Need a camera to monitor a 30/15 meter parking lot
myiicu replied to robertras's topic in Security Cameras
What is the night-time lighting like in the parking lot? Does this parking lot have sodium lamps or other types of illumination? If overall lighting is good in your target area, than your IR requirements will be greatly reduced.. -
I have used external USB hard drives on PC based recorders/servers and located them in remote areas. External USB hard drives can get warm so ventilation is recommended. Also, hard drives do not like the cold... USB Cabling Limitation (without repeaters) USB 2.0 cabling max = 5.0m (16.4 feet) USB 3.0 cabling max = 3.0m (9.8 feet)

Need a camera to monitor a 30/15 meter parking lot
myiicu replied to robertras's topic in Security Cameras
A parking lot 30mx15m cannot be covered effectively by one camera. If she can park close to the camera in the same parking spot every day and night, your chances of identifying the suspect will be better and cost much less. Otherwise, you will need to increase your budget... -
Most attics are not conditioned spaces i.e. hot/humid in summer and cold in winter, so locating the nvr in the attic is not recommended. A hidden, well ventilated, and conditioned space is a better location for the nvr.

The house is quite wide, so 3 cameras are recommended for the front. A camera with 2mm lens is recommend for the front door to capture facial id. Mount this camera to the right of the front door near the lamp so that the camera is not obscured by the opening of glass screen door or glare/reflection. A camera with 4mm lens is recommended for the left and the right side of the house. Mount these cameras under the soffits to give some protection from the elements. The center of the double garage doors and equal distance in from the left side look like good, balanced spots for camera placement.

HDD Capacity randomly reduces
myiicu replied to knightblackboat's topic in General Digital Discussion
Are your lighting levels identical at each camera? Different lighting levels at each camera can also have an overall effect on the image file size. I have found that low lighting can cause a very noisy image contributing to larger file size. -
I have used dome cameras in direct sunlight that have lasted much longer than bullets in direct sunlight... IP 66 rated bullet style cameras do not require an external enclosure. Box cameras (not waterproof) require a external enclosure. Enclosure with internal heater/fan is recommended for longer life. Temperature controlled dome cameras with internal heaters and fans are common and available. As with most things these days, you get what you pay for...
