Most low cost bullet cameras have IR leds that only last the warranty period and have a low half life. Use camera with longer warranty period if you want longer life...

You can reset this camera via the osd menu. Go to Special Setup Menu, Push SET to the right of Camera Reset, and then push the F4 button. Camera preset position, auto pan, patrol, rs485, blemish compensation pattern and password settings are not changed...

Most wire cages will obstruct the camera lens/view to some degree. Find a cage with wider grid spacing to reduce the obstruction. Roosting birds and thrown garbage might accumulate if cage top is flat, so rounded is better...

If you don't have any other lighting near the front door, keep that junction box for lighting. Your front door camera will produce better night-time images with light...

The focus might be stuck. Try powering the camera on and off first. Then try a factory reset on the camera...

Soldering the wires and heat shrink is more reliable. A externally mounted water proof junction box is more serviceable. Try swapping out the power connection at the power supply of the suspect camera with a known good connection. If the problem (blue image) occurs again with the same camera, your camera is NFG...

If your camera is a box type, a good sealed box enclosure with rated internal heater and blower assembly will work in a freezer.

With an all-in-one NVR, you need to invest in all the channels up front as most are not upgradeable channel wise. Some NVRs have room for additional hard drives internally and externally for more storage. A $500 budget will be difficult to meet for a IP based POE security system. If you are good with computers and have a decent desktop PC kicking around gathering dust, you may want to consider building a PC based system with VMS software and add cameras/licences slowly...

To avoid compatibility problems stick with same brand cameras and NVR. ie Hikvision cameras with Hikvision NVR Dahua cameras with Dahua NVR etc...
