Exterior cable connection problem - pulling my hair out
myiicu replied to rushy5150's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Soldering the wires and heat shrink is more reliable. A externally mounted water proof junction box is more serviceable. If you don't want to void your warranty, a dc power plug to screw adapter or dc power plug pigtail with silicon fusing tape/heatshrink is an option... http://www.parts-express.com/21mm-x-55mm-power-plug-to-screw-terminals--335-370 http://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=6880 http://www.homedepot.com/p/Nashua-Tape-1-in-x-3-33-yd-Stretch-Seal-Self-Fusing-Silicone-Tape-Black-1208952/100206050 -

upgrade standard CCTV to work for freezers?

If your camera is a box type, a good sealed box enclosure with rated internal heater and blower assembly will work in a freezer. -
The Avigilon encoders supports analog composite video only. Maximum resolution 720 x 480 NTSC @ 30ips http://4a54f0271b66873b1ef4-ddc094ae70b29d259d46aa8a44a90623.r7.cf2.rackcdn.com/assets/Uploads/en_US/datasheetENC-4P-H2.pdf HD-SDI uses BNC connectors as well but is serial digital and differs greatly from analog composite video. You might be able to find a HD-SDI to IP encoder, but if you factor in the costs, getting IP cameras and upgrading your fiber interface will cost less in the long run...

You will need 12mm lens to see better details at 10m-20m. However with the larger lens, your FOV is reduced so you might need additional cameras. At 25m, you will need even larger lens. Also, if the target area is not well lit at night, you will need very good IR...

Newbie-Need Suggestions for a 4-8 channel POE System
myiicu replied to fireman_pete's topic in General Digital Discussion
As usual, we need to know your budget with or without cameras before we can recommend. With an all-in-one NVR, you need to invest in all the channels up front as most are not upgradeable channel wise. Some NVRs have room for additional hard drives internally and externally for more storage. The easiest solution is to start off with a packaged 8 channel all-in-one solution IP/POE system with 4 cameras and add more cameras in the future as required... -

Newbie-Need Suggestions for a 4-8 channel POE System
myiicu replied to fireman_pete's topic in General Digital Discussion
A $500 budget will be difficult to meet for a IP based POE security system. If you are good with computers and have a decent desktop PC kicking around gathering dust, you may want to consider building a PC based system with VMS software and add cameras/licences slowly... -
Best security camera to record my driveway and sidewalk?
myiicu replied to 420friendly's topic in Security Cameras
The average condo/apartment has many dogs. These dogs have multiple bad/lazy owners that have the task of walking the dog daily. The dog does not change, but the bad/lazy owner might be the partner, brother, sister, cousin, roommate etc. I have found that color is the easiest way to narrow down and identify the dog in low light. -
