Noise/static during the day. Perfect at night.

Looks like the iris control is NFG! (stuck on open)... -
Maximum distance from PoE switch to PoE camera is 100m (333ft). PoE is approximately 48V, so voltage drop is minimal. With 100m CAT5 cable, approximately 4W will be loss. With 50m CAT5 cable, approximately 2W will be loss I use quality CAT6 cable for my installations. CAT6 conductors (23AWG) are slightly thicker than CAT5e (24AWG) so less loss...

If you can't beat em, join em... To combat the noise, I use a white noise generator. If all else fails, good pair of noise canceling headphones with favorite tunes on 11 works for me...

Sens up for normal CCTV use causes motion blur. Sens up is ok for star glazing... Vivotek cameras are great for WDR, but not for low light. For low light, 1.3MP cameras are usually better. Look at Axis Lightfinder, Avigilon Lightcatcher, Bosch Starlight, and HIKvision Darkfighter

I am glad that Avigilon once again sets the bar in high resolution enterprise solutions. They are always so ahead in the game over others. Having cut their teeth with a robust jpeg 2000 database, H.264 was a breeze. Can't wait for H.265... -
2MP dahua 1200S camera
myiicu replied to centralalarms's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Could be Aptina/ON Semiconductor. http://www.aptina.com/ Only Dahua knows for sure... -
A dome is not necessary more light sensitive than a box or bullet. In general, the image sensor, lens, electronics and software all have a bearing on the overall light sensitivity of a camera. Also consider that a dome/turrent/bullet may or not include IR leds. The box camera usually does not include IR leds. Separate IR illumination is always best. Some box cameras with proper lens are great with low light.

Have you tried to swap the known good cameras with the suspect ones at the DVR inputs? This will eliminate the possibility that the problem could be DVR inputs rather than the cameras... -
2MP dahua 1200S camera
myiicu replied to centralalarms's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The IPC-HFW1200S uses a different image sensor... IPC-HFW4200S has: Exmor Image Sensor This image sensor uses Sony's Exmor technology. Sony's Exmor ViewDR (advanced WDR) is very good with resolving bright background images. -

I wouldn't be surprised if somebody is developing an app to do that (refocus that image). http://www.geek.com/microsoft/nokia-refocus-vs-lytro-the-interactive-photo-shootout-1588130/ http://blog.laptopmag.com/galaxy-s5-selective-focus Lytro has a camera that allows you to focus after taking the picture... http://gizmodo.com/5890028/lytro-light-field-camera-this-is-what-new-feels-like

IP over a Cell Conection
myiicu replied to NCPI's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
A portable 24/7 covert ip camera is a very difficult task. True covert (invisible to the human eye) 940nm IR illuminators are costly, not very small, and consume power. Pinhole cameras are usually not good for both low light and bright light scenarios. Cameras that perform well in low light/bright lights will have larger lens and more circuitry to handle the dynamic range making the solution less covert... -
Axis? Or something just as good but cheaper?
myiicu replied to vandam's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
For low light, 720P sensors are better than 1080P. If you use Axis "Lightfinder" cameras, IR illumination is not usually required with some minimal lighting. Also, not sure any technology can last for 10 years. The product itself might still work, but the technology will be outdated in 5 years. I have a pile of Microsoft XP desktop pc's in the closet graveyard... -
HikVision DS-2CD2032-I: Weatherproof Connector?
myiicu replied to PeteCress's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have been terminating RJ connectors for over 25 years. Terminate your RJ connectors properly the first time if you want a reliable connection. The devil is in the details... Also, read what you post. Yourtube ? Property? Prefect? -
What is the budget given? What is the distance from condo to business? You will need multiple wide angle overview cameras to cover that condo from top to bottom. When the suspect unit/floor has been found, a good zoom with sufficient lighting can help identify the perp.

I am not bashing Samsung. I just like my display devices to be dumb! Actually, I have many Samsung products (monitors, tv's, cctv cameras, phones) My first Samsung LCD monitor purchased in 2002 still works today. Can say their TV's have short life span tho...

Your dvr security could be compromised if you leave voice recognition on that smart Samsung TV... Also, can you now trust that smart Samsung tv to be secure?

If you are installing cable in a plenum, plenum rated cable CMP/FT6 is recommended. Otherwise CMR/FT4 is fine for most applications. Look for the cable ratings/approvals. They are usually stamped/marked on the outer jacket of the cabling.

Looks like internal lens housing is out of alignment... The lens assembly should be centered looking through the front face.
