I remember a few months ago there was a vid I saw of some woman jogger taking a dump in a persons driveway. Did it twice over a period of days and they were asking for help trying to ID the person.

Well, personally I wouldn't use staples to secure wire. If I absolutely had to, I'd use a staple gun like an Arrow Fastener model T25, that is designed for stapling down wires. Is your siamese cable Co-ax or UTP? If coax, crimping it with a staple will change the electrical properties of the cable. How much it changes depends on how many staples you used to secure it.

One option would be to use fiber optic for the run, and converters on each end to your network devices.

So, the description is false when it says "Video Balun Connector". You have to consider the source though. Sorry.

Those *are* baluns in the original post's link. Don't know why the first responder would have said that they were not. Just make sure that you keep the polarity matched on each end when you wire them up. Positive to positive and negative to negative.

RG-59 is rated up to 750 feet, which is 230 meters. Since you are going 300 to 500 meters, you are way over. You could use RG6 / 11, but I would probably use UTP and *active* baluns.

The one we got had a pot inside to vary the time period. Different model.

Lots of "request to exit" pushbuttons have a circuit built into them that will allow you to vary the amount of time their relay output is energized. Polarity correct on your converters?

Since it is powered by the AC outlet it is plugged into you don't have to worry about the 2 week time limit. If you don't have an outlet that's pointing the right way to give you the view you want, you can always use an extension cord to position it, as long as it doesn't look obvious. Now, I don't know about what kind of software you'd have to load to read the SD card, or if it would work on your PC. You'll need to check on that. You would also need an SD reader to plug into the PC.

I consider the lux meter to be more useful if you're doing a site survey of a potential customer, to see what conditions they have. Just for a learning lab I wouldn't consider it a necessity.

I'd bring the camera to the head end and attach with a short cable to make sure it's what you think it is. Or, if you have another camera input on your DVR that is working OK, swap that input to the one that looks bad and see if the bad image moves or stays on the same input. Did both cameras start doing this at the same time? If so, the likelihood of it being the cables is very low. Florida being really bad for lightning (#1 in the USA) you may have gotten damage to your inputs on your DVR. Another possibility is that you've developed a ground loop.

Regular RG59 should work fine in conduit, as long as you didn't pull a splice into the conduit or damage it while pulling. Are you sure it's the wire itself causing the problem?

Well, that helps you as far as the having to store 45 days worth is concerned. The lower you set the record rate, the more you can record on a specific disk size. If they don't define "Continuous" then I guess technically you could record (if you can find a system that will allow it) 1 frame a minute or even less. Such a screwed up writing of the law may be a result of non-technical people writing it. Kinda like people that don't know anything about health care trying to write health care laws...

Do they have minimum spec of Frames per Second to be recorded?

At the price limit you've set, you're not going to get "wireless" (which would require batteries, solar panels, etc.). So, you have to run wires to the cameras but this does not require plugs on the outside of the house. The power supply(s) would be located inside the home and wire ran to the cameras outside. There are a lot of variables in a situation like this. What you really need is someone that is experienced to look over your particular setup. You said this was a case of stalking so you *might* be able to get some personalized help from law enforcement, or perhaps an organization that helps with cases like this. That would depend on where you live and what resources are available.

From what I can find, the IPH-WB3110 camera specs say that POE is "optional". It's possible that your camera does not have it installed.

And you want to do your focusing in low light conditions. A camera that appears to be focused fine in bright daylight may look horrible in low light. You can simulate low light by placing a piece of dark car window tint in front of the lens while focusing. Welders glass also works but may be harder to find.

Sounds like you're into wasting your time, which is what you'll be doing if you attempt this. If you want to use IP cams, you're going to need to upgrade the wiring and replace the DVR with an NVR.
