Installed wrong firmware HIKVISION NVR
Boogieman replied to megaball112's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yes you can load improper firmware. The hard disk does not store the firmware. This is improper advice. -
new firmware for no-name WiFi camera?
Boogieman replied to toozie21's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Forget it, there is a reason its 27 dollars...buy a cheap wifi bridge. Or better yet wire the camera up properly. -
You mean the power supply that I use is not enough ? The camera which unable to see is always the same. Camera model? how are you running power to the camera? Over what cable? Did you properly crimp the cable using 568 standards?
-
That system is WAY overpriced...start doing some research.

You say that you learned with your " SUNLUXY ebay special"..i dont think you did.

My CCTV (NVR) dream... is it possible?
Boogieman replied to mono78v's topic in General Digital Discussion
There are tons of threads discussing cameras and nvrs. Match the cameras to the nvr's Look at dahua and hikvision. If you buy hikvision, understand that there are world region and china region cameras. Lots of info, you just need to start researching. -
My CCTV (NVR) dream... is it possible?
Boogieman replied to mono78v's topic in General Digital Discussion
First, the cameras would need to support onvif and even then it does not gaurontee the NVR will be able to utilize the cameras motion detection...Why are you using low end cameras like tenvis and foscam? Wifi is a terrible idea for cameras that need to be able to stream 24/7. Reconsider your entire setup. -
My CCTV (NVR) dream... is it possible?
Boogieman replied to mono78v's topic in General Digital Discussion
How much are you looking to spend? You will have a hard time finding any standalone nvr that works with you low end cameras. -
Read what toss said. Why do you need wireless? You need to run power to the camera anyway. Take a step back and start researching ip cameras. There are TONS of threads about this topic.

Remote viewing of SANNCE DVR works with IE8 but not IE11
Boogieman replied to SuffolkPunch's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hit f12, change from edge to ie8 mode. -
Its seems like you are thinking of adding 2 IP ptz cameras using the ethernet port? that wont work. Your dvr is analog. You need an analog ptz or better yet upgrade your dvr to a hybrid.

Suggestions for Surveillance set up
Boogieman replied to kobewon's topic in General Digital Discussion
If budget is truly not an issue then consider 4k cameras and/or a bunch of 4mp cameras with 6mm possible 12mm (depending on the layout) lenses so you zoom in closer to the action with a few overview wider angle 4mm cameras. A system like this comes with vari-focal cameras that where the "zoom" can be adjusted. Its not designed for real time zoom, simply to make installation easier so you dont have to guess as to lens size. The varifocal here is motorized and autofocus. http://www.costco.com/AvertX-16-Channel-HD-IP-NVR-with-6TB-HDD%2c-10-Autofocus-4MP-Cameras-with-100'-Night-Vision.product.100221880.html -
use a mobile app like ipcamviewer or tinycam What model dvr are you using?
-
Get the Dahua version at a better price and more efficient. NVR4104-W. PM me for details. How is it more efficient? What makes you say the dahua is cheaper...its all about where you buy from. Seems like you have an ulterior motive. "pm for details"

Suggestions for Surveillance set up
Boogieman replied to kobewon's topic in General Digital Discussion
If you buy hikvision cameras then buy a hikvision nvr. Dont mix and match. -
If you dont want to replace your cabling and you are in the US, costco is a great source for hd over analog units. They offer lifetime returns. http://www.costco.com/Q-See-16-Channel-HD-Analog-DVR-with-2TB-HDD%2c-8-1080p-Cameras-with-80'-Night-Vision.product.100159617.html The image quality on these cams will blow away your current setup. This is a dahua rebranded CVI system.
-
Costco sells the SAME dahua cvi systems you recommend in your other posts as rebranded lorex and qsee. There is NOTHING better about your systems. In fact costco is a better option because not only do they offer a long warranty, but the offer a LIFETIME return policy. YUP, lifetime. Now this particular system may be a lower end garbage unit, but to bash costco in general is foolish and uninformed. There is obviously something wrong here but you have not diagnosed the issue. Next...

Whatever makes you feel good. A professional will lay out every option then provide a recommendation. .

Ethernet (Cat5, Cat6) cables perform well with HD-CVI, but the quality of the video resolution is slightly degraded. It is still a dramatic increase in resolution over analog resolution, but the degradation in quality is around 10%. As for Dahua CVI 1080p 2MP vs Dahua IP 2mp, if the features are all the same (WDR, DNR, etc), then it's going to look the same. Remember, that MP (megapixels) is what determines the resolution you're looking at. No its not going to look the same. You should compare the two side by side. Regardless, the customer should know what they are paying for and the other options out there.

Transitional as in a temporary upgrade using coax. If you are installing new lines, at the very least use ethernet and baluns so that they can upgrade later. The 1080 on the cvi is not as good as the 1080p on the dahua ip cameras. Yes, they claim the same resolution buts its not quite there.
-
Forget all this rebranded higher priced, less efficient Hik equipment. I work only with OEM non-branded Dahua equipment. that $110 1080p camera someone mentioned is a motorized lens camera. unless you actually need a lens that auto focuses when you digitally zoom in, then get a fixed lens. Even if you go motorized, i know a place you can get each camera at least $10 cheaper, but its still better equipment. Anyways, for your project: -an 8CH runs just $125, 16CH are just $199. - For your home, max you'll need is 4TB, and thats just $170. - Do 4 1080p fixed lens for inside ($49/ea.) and 4 motorized for outside ($99/ea.) =$592 - 9CH 10Amp power supply box is just $31. - 60 feet premade coaxial cables are $5.00. 500 ft RG59 cable is $40. TOTAL NOT INCLUDING CABLE IS JUST $918. THATS $300 EXTRA IN YOUR POCKET, PLUS MORE EFFICIENT, RELIABLE, BETTER RESOLUTION ON LONGER RUNS' EQUIPMENT. need i say more? oh yeah, plus they give tech support for anything you need, and 3 year warranties. " title="Applause" /> except that you are installing transitional equipment (CVI) in 2015...the customer should at least know what they are buying. At the very least, run ethernet so they dont have to pay twice when they want to upgrade to ip later. CVI is not more efficient or more reliable than ip. The resolution is not any better, its in fact worse. The only benefit is longer runs which in 99.9 percent of installs a non issue.

New to security camera systems; need advise
Boogieman replied to polar59's topic in General Digital Discussion
The sale is over...it jumped to 749 but its now 399.. -
That is a system that is on sale, 4 cameras NOT 8 with no installation and no drive. Sunny you need to compare apples to apples. In the US the labor rate is much higher than your native china. We are taking about running ethernet professional through the house. Plus providing service and warranty. There is big price difference between installing yourself and having a professional do it. Doesn't mean the professional ripped you off.
-
Looks like that is an LTS nvr not LTN..its made by hikvision..likely the cameras are hikvision as well...they are very good cameras. 3000 is a good price for an 8 camera system like that installed. Not sure why you think its a bad deal. You need to learn about this stuff before accusing installers of ripping her off. There are many installers who are cheats but based on what you said so far it doesnt seem to be the case.
