New to security camera systems; need advise
Boogieman replied to polar59's topic in General Digital Discussion
Please ignore all posts recommending low resolution analog crap. You can buy this 4 camera 1080p HD IP system for 299. Just add a hard drive. The cameras and NVR are made by hikvsion. Use coupon code to get 100 off. Use a WD purple drive. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16881183059&cm_re=laview_4_camera-_-81-183-059-_-Product -
Instead of replacing the board, look at replacing the system...its likely to fail again.

Lorex and SCW : Made in same factory?
Boogieman replied to brycenesbitt's topic in Digital Video Recorders
If you mean directly on the NVR, then no...not sure if dahua pss can be used to review video on the nvr...if you want lots of options you might want to consider a pc based vms. -
Lorex and SCW : Made in same factory?
Boogieman replied to brycenesbitt's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The lorex systems after the acquisition by flir are all dahau and any dahua camera should work. The older lorex systems were rebranded hikvision. -
Looking for Feedback on GW Security
Boogieman replied to colditalianpizza's topic in Security Cameras
They are junk....there is more to a camera than the mp rating...in fact a higher rating MAY be worse in low light depending on the camera. You need to start reading the forums and do more research. -
How to get a remote viewing cctv setup to my PC and phone?
Boogieman replied to socalfusions's topic in Security Cameras
Any cameras will not be ok, there is a huge difference in build, image quality, and most importantly firmware stability between no name camera brands and established brands like hikvision and dahua. Hikvision, even on their entry level 2 line cameras, has line cross and intrusion detection that can significantly lower false alerts. Dahua has similar functions on their mid-range models. So dont say any camera will be ok and that the user should expect a flood of emails..that will not be the case if the proper camera is purchased. This idea that all cameras are the same is complete and utter nonsense. Both HikVision and Dahua are using the same chip set and the same SDK. So are other CCTV makers. Some can make the exact copy of others. Some can make "Look & Feel" different. Basically the same. I do not think those good brands can offer a good tech service, worth of more dollars that you may pay. So, you better find and pay good local dealers, ready to help when you need. They cameras are not the same. You keep spewing this same information but if you EVER bothered to look at both you will see they are NOT the same. The image is different, the way the image is processed is DIFFERENT. The firmware is DIFFERENT. Also, you completely missed the point about build quality and firmware stability. The cheap no name junk from china is built poorly with UNSTABLE firmware. So thats why its worth a few extra dollars. STABILITY, image quality and BUILD quality. You know, the most IMPORTANT aspects of a CAMERA. lol. Its pretty obvious from your false statements that you have NEVER used a dahua or hikvision camera. NEVER. Or you are simply lying on purpose to further your cheap china brands. Is ubiqmicro selling cheap china ip cams now too? -

How to get a remote viewing cctv setup to my PC and phone?
Boogieman replied to socalfusions's topic in Security Cameras
Dont forget that there are many "gray market" hikvsiion cameras that CAN and DO fully support English firmware as they are US region. It is important to distinguish US region vs china region. You need to do some more research and learn about the hikvision product line. Also, when using third party vms software, the region is irrelevant as you dont need firmware updates. However, the price of US region cameras have come down significantly so depending on the model, it might be better to simply by from a US vendor selling US region cameras. I would not recommend paying a significant premium to buy from hikvision authorized distributors. They charge way too much and offer little in return. Hikvision and dahua are super value brands. Others are either 5-10x the price or low end rubbish (like foscam crap). The "cheap" junk no name brands offered on ali or ebay are just that. Be very careful about FAKE amazon reviews. Lots of IP camera companies use FAKE reviewers. Also, most of the reviews are from home users who dont know any better. -

Back-Up Camera Guide Lines Just Appeared One Day!
Boogieman replied to GLOCKer's topic in Security Cameras
You can return any system purchased at costco for a full refund...the lorex and qsee HD or IP systems they sell now, are made by Dahua - a reliable brand. -
Learning about your options so you dont buy crap is a waste of time..that's a new one... A waste of time is buying junk that will not help you achieve your goal.

4MP camera played back on 1080P monitor
Boogieman replied to smokingjoe's topic in General Digital Discussion
Then you did not understand what I wrote ..listen to everyone posing here. Use a 1080p monitor with standard hdmi cable. You are completely misunderstanding the concept. -
Technology needed to create multiple CCTV channels
Boogieman replied to demigod999's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Why would you want to do this? The power consumption of the TV alone makes it not worthwhile, setting aside many other issues. IT would make more sense of you told us the purpose of this setup? -
Best free CCTV DVR software? Windows or linux doesnt matter
Boogieman replied to mxmaniac's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Your opinion of blue iris is flawed. First, you tested it on an old xeon system then complained yes i remember your posts. You are likely running a laptop i7 and complaining that its maxing out (laptops tend to throttle the cpu a lot even on the more powerful i7's) not a modern desktop haswell system if your cpu use is 80 percent. You need to know how to properly set it up. You need to record direct to disc - this is EXTREMELY important. I can easily run 10x 3mp cameras at 30 percent cpu at 15-20fps on a modern haswell i7. Your statements about 8 cams maxing out a quad core i7 is simply false. Also note that the developer is adding hardware acceleration at the end of the month which will improve performance significantly. Onvif based motion detection (in camera motion) has also been added in the last few months. Its is the most feature rich VMS software that does not cost 100-150 PER camera but rather a flat fee of 60 dollars. Your experience is simply user error. There are tons of folks running 30mp plus systems on modern i7's using blue iris. Basic 2mp x8 camera setups will run just fine on a 300 dollar i5 haswell system (at less than 50 percent). I have MANY of them setup. If you think the crap cms software that comes with your cameras has anywhere near the function of blue iris then you have not properly explored the software. Blue iris has always been know to use more cpu, but not at the levels you claim. With the new hardware acceleration and in camera motion the numbers should be much better. You simply need to invest in decent hardware, not 7 year old xeon processors or laptops. Either that or you are not properly configuring the recording using direct to disk. Nothing is going to be free...so you can simply forget about that. Either pony up the money on decent hardware or buy 100 per camera licenses. -
Your response to the person mentioning the reasons why they won't purchase a specific brand of IP Camera devices ("Their choice") stated that the person "Did not have a clue". Your words, not mine. I decided to show you and others, that they in fact did have a clue. As noted in my prior post here. In some cases, only a firmware upgrade will "Prevent" these issues. The manufacturer states so themselves. While you should be proud of your less than 3 years experience with IP Cameras. Please don't take it personally that myself and others may choose to follow the manufacturers advice vs. yours in cases like this. IMHO. Insulting others does not help make your points stonger in your responses. I will let the Moderators and Administrators here, deal with your incessant insults to others here in your responses. I'm not going to argue with you on this. I show here, that even the manufacturer disagrees with you. That's enough proof, by me. On this subject matter. Don Stop posting lies about my level of experience. You have obviously been proven wrong and have nothing to say. Firmware updates are useless in preventing the new attacks because they are months behind. The manufacture did not disagree with me. STOP making things up. You keep spinning your lies. I defy you to explain to me how the manufacturer disagrees with anything I have stated. YOU CANT. You will keep spinning your web of lies, but you cannot explain it. I DARE you to try. Also as per the mods instructions to YOU, STOP attacking my posts.

You have no clue....next time properly secure your device. The person in fact making this statement indeed has "a clue" and in some cases without also doing a firmware upgrade properly securing your devices ("As you call it") won't help fix those issues: http://overseas.hikvision.com/europe/Press-Release-details_435_i4987.html http://overseas.hikvision.com/europe/list01_435.html Any suggestion that nobody should expose their NVR/DVR/IP Camera to the outside world is also not a solution in cases where only a firmware upgrade can truly fix an issue. Which would be like telling someone who is afraid of falling while walking outside. That the solution for them, is that they should never go outside and then their problem would be solved. I hope that someday, you can respectfully respond to others here in this forum. Without the need to insult them, while responding. Don Properly securing the device with a vpn will ALWAYS prevent these issues - THAT IS FACT. Any lies you post otherwise is a veiled attempt to promote your practically useless "solution". Firmware updates will ALWAYS be months behind the hackers. It is NOT a solution. Stop embarrassing yourself. Take some time out and learn about ip cameras and network security. Your poor advice is a huge security risk to end users. Dont tell me how to act, I could care less about your opinion, I will never respect YOU, EVER. You have been proven a novice amateur who repeatedly misrepresents information on this forum and therefore anything you say is highly suspect. Furthermore, the exploit you linked to requires the attacker to know your user name and password. Do you even bother to read the crap you link to. WOW. Most importantly its imperative to note that these exploits are found ALL popular cameras, including your dear beloved foscam (except that foscam just decides to "end of life" any camera they dont want to patch...) Finally, listen to the moderator and dont you EVER attack my posts.

Give up...you wont find it. Its not worth it. Here is an HD over coax system with the LIFETIME return policy of costco http://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-HD-Analog-DVR-with-2TB-HDD%2c-8-1080p-Cameras-with-130'-Night-Vision.product.100218592.html Hi again Boogieman. Can you tell me if this unit has Email feature? If so, does it allow complete setup ability that enables email to be sent at long intervals such as only once when the motion activated? I installed a different system for a friend but it can only be configured for limited timing like one picture every 10 minutes or so. Way to many pictures that are totally unnecessary and no way to make changes from iPhone. Thanks. Al I have no idea, call the manufacture and ask.

Absolutely false. IP systems can do all that and more. Including advanced motion detection like line crossing...Please stop posting purposely false info. Then please recommend a good one to the original poster. To me, IP cameras already lost "flexibility". IP Cameras have become already "Canned Food" which do not allow you to cook on your own taste. I already did.. See my post... Ip cameras are more flexible and superior in every way to analog.. Please explain how analog is superior.. It's not.. Analog is very limited... OP does not even need an nvr.. Just an ip camera with sd card slot.. Problem solved..
-
If you may look at DVR system, not IP camera system, then you can come across the right solution for you. DVR system offers instant spot video display, motion detection, alarming inut, and geting you signaled wherever you are on, email/message, whatever. IP camera system may claim to do that in a very flexible way, but hard to find or to suite your needs. Absolutely false. IP systems can do all that and more. Including advanced motion detection like line crossing...Please stop posting purposely false info.
-
I understand, but you need to understand that posting misinformation helps no one...you need to be certain about the information you are distributing..
-
Yes that is correct. The point is if you are home on your own network it doesnt matter. If you are away and using cellular then it will use your data BUT so will using a DVR!!!! There is no benefit of analog here. Also not that the APP does NOT have to be open and streaming the cameras to get alerts. Also most phones would drain their battery if the app was open 24/7....having the app open 24/7 only makes sense if you are using a tablet on wifi or some android devices hooked up to your tv to watch the cams...again, no data usage.
-
Not if you are on the same network ....a DVR offers no advantage in this regard. This is a common misconception.
-
If IP has been a problem for you, you are either installing it improperly and/or using low end gear. Its a shame you dont offer it to customers...at the very least you should run ethernet and use baluns so they can upgrade in the future without paying the extra cost of running new cable. You should also explain the benefits of IP to them and let them make their own determination.

Its DOES handle 4mp. It DOES handle 20fps per camera. Why do you use the word "claim" as if alleging that this is a false claim? There is no reason to playback 8ch of 4mp video, because the monitor will NOT be displaying that if you have 8 cameras on a 1080p monitor. How many times do you need to be reminded of this? Why do you keep asking for this useless function as if not having it is a bad thing? At least the user can view full 4mp if they want to in full screen and zoom in on the important detail. Do you have a better solution? other than recording in low res 960h which gives you low res images that cannot be effectively zoomed in on and cannot provide a 4mp image either? As usual you make no sense. That NVR can playback up to 4 ch at full res..an 16 using the substream..which will still be better quality than junk 960h and the user has the OPTION to then select ANY of the cameras and watch up to 4 in full res at a time...but again, it doesnt matter on a 1080p monitor if you are watching a matrix because the monitor itself is NOT capable of displaying more than 1 camera in 1080p...Please please learn about this technology before providing incorrect advice to users on this forum!!! Enough is enough. Tell us why we need FULL 4mp res x 16 cameras on a 1080p monitor??? it makes ZERO sense. If the users plays back the substream and needs further detail, they can bring up a single camera in full screen then zoom in. I guess the chip inside the box can do play back (decoding simultaneously) 4 Ch X 1080P X 30FPS as a Max Performance. I mean the max decoding capability to be limited to 120FPS of 1080P. Substream is another cost to HDD and burden to Network... It can playback 4 cameras a 4mp...why do you say 1080p? Second there is NO point in playing back 16 cameras in 4mp because the MONITOR does not support it. There is NO cost to the hard drive(the unit comes with a huge drive, the subtream uses a low bitrate) OR the network (cables are run to the NVR, no data passes though the network). Your solution is to simply record low res all the time, how stupid is that?
-
Please stop giving advice. Everything you say in your posts are incorrect. 700tvl is NOT a nice image. We are in 2015. 720p should be the minimum. Its has at least double the resolution of 700tvl. IP can be wired OR wireless and DOES not have to rely on a cell signal anymore than an analog dvr.
