This is easy. First, look at the actual resolution the camera claims it is delivering. Then, compare it to other camera sample videos on youtube.

So far we been installing HD-TVI systems here and got great results, in fact better than IP since there limitation (300ft max before adding another switch.) when it comes to cost to our clients. (Fiber expensive here). The farthest we ever run on UTP (CAT6e) was about 800 ft (244m) using HD-TVI Baluns and approx 900 ft (275m) on RG6. We know that HD-TVI is capable over 1300 feet, just trying to figure out if there are coaxial cables we can get without splicing, or has anyone ever tried splicing coaxial for HD-TVI? Thanks Good to know to hear success of HD-TVI in field Too bad to know there are some guys who keep peddling 4MP IP Cameras even for home applications or ministores. Google and Contact "TechPoint" and ask the company about choosing a good quality cable for a longer distance. The Techpoint develops chipset for HD-TVI. They should know !!!. Too bad there are guys peddling (thats a word I taught you, you are welcome) 960h junk cameras and low end DVR cards their company makes.

By the time they stop lying to themselves it will be too late...Listening to the radio today, they interviewed a Frenchman, they asked him if he is afraid. His response was that he fears it will now be difficult for the "refugees" because of negative perception. I almost hurled my breakfast. That dude will be first in line.

dont put your iframe interval at 2..that is your problem..set it to 15 and set your frame rate to 15...you also may have a cpu consumption problem..what is the cpu consumption percentage? -
Can we use the existing company network/bandwidth?
Boogieman replied to max_preuss's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would suggest you do a Step by Step approach, rather than saying it'll be fine, how about saying "lets try this, but keep an eye on if things slow down and if you have a quota limit" then if they notice anything just look at increasing the speed of their connection slightly or increasing quota if they are on that sort of link Because "you will be fine" is the correct answer based on the information provided. What you are stating is "i have no clue so why dont you test it and see. If it doesn't work get faster internet." That doesnt help the OP. There are substream settings on the NVR to address this issue. -

Every NVR has the option to limit bandwidth for the substream so that you can view remotely. You will have no problem. -
upgrade standard CCTV to work for freezers?
Boogieman replied to BrownChiLD's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Most cameras can handle well below freezing..the issue you may have is condensation forming...they have cameras with heaters built in..you dont want to mess around making your own.. -

The speedtest results are irrelevant for local viewing. If you network is gigabit you will not have any problems. -
Hikvision 2CD2032 motion detection issues.
Boogieman replied to jaybo's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
ha! Thanks Boogieman. Weird that the algorithm that BlueIris uses didn't pickup the dust as motion. Guess its more advanced than what is crammed into the camera. Its depends on your settings....blue iris has recently changed its algorithms for motion detection and allow more advanced rejection methods...but these should only be used for alerts..for recording err on the side of too sensitive. you may need to lower the sensitively but you will miss events...its always better to record more than less. Storage is cheap. -

Welcome to the world of pixel based motion detection....you can try using line crossing for email alerts but keep motion detection for recording...recording space is cheap... -
Newbie-Need Suggestions for a 4-8 channel POE System

Why is 960h second best to ip? The budget does allow for 1080p. -
Newbie-Need Suggestions for a 4-8 channel POE System
Boogieman replied to fireman_pete's topic in General Digital Discussion
Please show me a single dahua 960h dvr that also supports AHD. Just one. Moreover even if it did exist, you didnt say anything about using 720p cameras. Your 960h stock is useless and you should be ashamed of yourself for unloading it on unsuspecting costumers. The OP was not looking for an LPR camera or for a PTZ. 960h is a terrible recommendation and should simply NOT be used. -

Boogieman replied to fireman_pete's topic in General Digital Discussion
Dont tell me what to do I will reply when and how I want! I NEVER mention ONLY going with hikvision. My point was going at the minimum 720p which is DOUBLE the resolution of 960h. You make an error in fact when you stated 720p cameras can be used with 960h DVR which is NOT the case. Makes me question your competence. 960h is NOT suitable for 2015 just like CRT monitors are no longer produced or installed for the mainstream. There are new systems and new techniques. Low resolution systems like 960h require MORE cameras to cover the same area and a tighter FOV to get a decent image. Its simply mathematics. I dont see how you can justify installing 960h systems in 2015. -

It doesnt work. A 960h DVR as you stated CANNOT handle a 720p camera. It just doesnt work that way. If a 1080p meets the op's budget why in the world would you recommend 960h over 1080p? Listen like the rest am not going to get into a fight with you ALL DAHUA OR HIK 960h also take 720 AHD I have worked with the Swann listed it's crap ..... Slow and choppy It's not just about price ...... It's what is best for his budget But please don't say it does not work that way most 960 AHD do You are the one who mentioned a low end swann system. The system I linked to is a HIKVISION TVI system rebranded as swann. You are simply wrong about a 960h system accepting AHD. That is impossible. I think what you mean is an AHD system also accepts 960h, and that is NOT what you recommended. It is malpractice and unprofessional to install 960h in 2015 and more importantly, silly when you can get a hikvision TVI system that is 1080p for the same cost. -
you will get what you pay for...

Boogieman replied to fireman_pete's topic in General Digital Discussion
Why give it a rest? I posted a link to a 500 dollar 1080p system. Why in the world should OP go for a 960h system that is 1/4 the resolution. Makes no sense. 960h systems should not be installed in 2015. Anyone doing so is committing malpractice and a complete disservice to their clients simply to save a few dollars (literally a few). 960h systems do not support 720p. Its the other way around. Most 720/1080p systems also support analog. IF OP took your advice and purchased a 960h system he would NOT be able to use a 720p camera with it. So please give recommending 960h systems a rest, its improper terrible advice. Thanks -

Dont even consider 960h...720p should be your minimum 1080 would be better..Id you want an ip system, 500 is insufficient..but if you are going to go analog, then at least go HD with a tvi system like this. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/swann-8ch-1080p-8x8-1080p/prod19070375.ip?navAction= Its a rebranded hikvision 1080p TVI... Though and IP POE system is a much better option...and can be had for 700-800 when on sale for about 6 cams... -

Thanks for the reply. I will certainly go to a professional in the morning and suggest they do this. I am so worried. What are the chances that they can recover the data? it says only 8gb free space out of 500gb..? i lost 60,000 k ...i am going crazy. thank you sooooooo much !! i lo Sounds like the data is there...but who knows...it may have not been recording and what you have is old data... -
These are all low end junk. You want a minimum of 720 and preferably 1080p (NOT 700tvl or 100tvl or 960h). Are you buying from the US? Start reading the forums before you buy. Understand the different technologies, IP, analog, HD over coax like CVI/TVI. I can assure you if you dont do any research you will end up with a terrible blurry image.
