    Some advice

Go with the 720p kit, it will produce much better images than the 960h...
  2. There are many cmos sensors that produce great low light images, that is just a junk camera. Yes there are BUT an equivalent sensor using CCD technology WILL capture more light simply because of the nature of the beast. Agreed, but that is not the issue here. Its simply a junk camera. A dahua 1.3mp/2mp camera would produce a good image in that scene despite a cmos sensor.

    No hdd

its probably a failed drive....but be a good son and get at least a 720p system for your folks.
  4. Dude, did you even read the original post? or are you simply spamming.

  6. I can only suggest creating a relationship with Hikvision as I have done when creating interfaces to their Network IP Camera equipment. Make suggestions as well. That said, I already have had conversations about this subject matter with them. But since others think implementing changes like this are "easy". It should be just as "easy" to make suggestions and also ask if these changes are more complicated then some think they are. I have no doubt what Hikvision's responses will be. Because I've asked the same questions in the past and tried to share their responses here to no avail. Don Making the suggestion is easy, making the change is very easy for hikvision. Problem is hikvision doesn't care. They simply have not received enough complaints. As hardwired mentioned, they can do face detection but somehow turning on recording during ptz movement is difficult. Please.
  7. Its not a false positive if you are moving the ptz and want it to record. Even without an on/off option this would add minimal HD storage space unless the ptz is manually operated hours at a time. A simple on/off option would eliminate that issue for constantly used ptz's. The solution is very simple to implement, certainly easier than traditional motion detection...they simply choose not to. If one was NOT continuously recording then one would not have been recording while using PTZ controls. So what you are saying makes no sense. I clearly stated that current PTZ control use currently suspends any motion detection events ("Including recording") and in many cases notifications. To undo that requires extensive coding changes. There is no "easy" fix to avoid those changes at this time. Continuous recording is never suspended as I assume you know. Which is why this currently is the only option to use in many cases when PTZ controls are being used to not miss recording something that could be taking place while using PTZ controls. This is why Hikvision is reviewing how they should make those changes and when they should suspend motion detection events and notifications. Once that review process is complete, then those extensive coding changes will that place. Which are far from simple. Don It makes total sense. While manual ptz is not in use then motion recording is active. A soon as manual ptz is engaged the camera starts recording. Simple, easy. This is NOT a difficult programming task. In fact it is VERY easy. Please dont provide the false impression that you know what hikvision is doing.

  9. The solution is simple, the camera should be set to record when the ptz is manually controlled, no motion events. Simply record the footage. It would be easy to implement, they simply choose not to do it.
  10. that camera is china region and you will not be able to update the firmware. You will also need an NVR...the camera is also only two axis so it cannot be wall mounted..(without a mount) They make the same model with an F in the name...2132F, this has an SD card slot and is three axis...the camera cannot send video via ftp only snapshots...

Is it easy to tamper with CCTV footage?

Trust me, no one is tampering with your feeds.
  12. Look at dahua and hikvision...
  13. Buy a quality camera, not some no name junk...or turn some lights on...
  14. What model? That is noise in the image due to insufficient lighting and or poor camera. The image looks blurry as well, probably not an IR corrected lens.
  15. If you want to use a webcam you can use blue iris...you are better off simply using an ip camera. It can be wired or wireless. Hikvision makes great cube cameras...your computer can be hacked just as well..use an ip camera, you will be better off....

    Night Vision Through Window?

If you are asking the question I think you know the answer... Mount the camera outside properly.

    Swann NHD-841CAM - Pan-Tilt-Zoom

Really? Anyone Really? why cant you go to the hikvision site and compare yourself? Note that not all swann is rebranded hikvision, but in your case with the 7200 NVR, it is.

    Wireless camera to DVR

what is your budget? Was hoping to do something for under $100,wish I could afford some high end but not right now. for about 100 dollars you can use a single IP camera with a build in SD card. This will have two benefits. 1) MUCH better image quality than analog, night and day difference. 2) if the wifi connection drops everything is still recorded to the sd card. Search google for Hikvision 2CD2110F-IW or Hikvision 2CD2120F-IW These can be had for 119 and 129 respectively....they will not work with your DVR but have a built in Recording function..
  19. Likely none...the uniden type systems a locked down and proprietary....they are not meant to be integrated with other systems..
  20. It's usable as it is now, but not very user friendly and seriously lacks features. Hopefully, someone can come up with a converter or a Medial player that can play this format. Can't be rocket science even if it is proprietary. Not going to happen. There are not enough users to make it worthwhile.

  22. Return that junk... Too late. The Cameras are all mounted and setup. To big a PITA to redo it all. Is there ANY other media player that will play .SNX files or any program that will convert it into a useable format ? its going to be a bigger PITA when the system proves useless to you...its a proprietary format and you are unlikely going to find a converter.

    Peculiar Crazy Problem

run a long extension cable to an outlet on a different circuit or better yet in a different building...that will show the customer that its a power problem... You can also try to use a power conditioner.

How to find a good installer???

Please stop posing false information, with the intent to scare people away from ip cameras. ANY network connected DVR has the SAME security issue as IP cameras. You can properly segment ip cameras or an NVR if you wish. Analog systems are no more secure than IP systems. There are NO passwords shared for IP systems The passwords that you claim are "shared" are only those that work within the LAN. They will not work remotely via WAN. Also the same techniques work for ANALOG systems made by those manufactures. I will say this again. An analog DVR is NO more secure than an ip camera. All this could simply be avoided by running a simply vpn. STOP posting false information about ip cameras simply because your china junk company does not sell IP. You are purposely misleading end users. Its getting old.
