Recommendations for hidden indoor camera for dark room
Boogieman replied to texas6023's topic in Security Cameras
Texas, If you want invisible IR look for a hidden camera with 940nm IR. Here is a hidden type IP camera that claims such a function...I know nothing about its picture quality or reliability. http://www.amazon.com/LEAGY-Vision-Internet-Surveillance-Camera/dp/B00UKSTOOK/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1441591487&sr=1-1&keywords=940nm+ir+camera -
In most states you can film any open area...check your state and local municipal codes, its different for everyone.

Has IP gotten cheap enough to replace budget analog?
Boogieman replied to hubjeep's topic in General Digital Discussion
Thanks! Searching around I found a thread you replied to suggesting this system http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16881183053&cm_re=laview-_-81-183-053-_-Product The company has a few how-to videos, it looks really good for the price. That is a good system as well. Its a rebranded hikvision system (though the cameras are NOT identical to the 2032 so they cannot take that firmware)...laview provides good tech support as well. Remember you need to add a hard drive, get a wd purple. You cant go wrong with it. Note that the plus side to buying from costco, is their unlimited return policy... -
Night view is a mess - Hikvision cams from 5.1.0 to 5.2.0

Cannot get TFTP to work! IP Cam doesn't get 192.0.0.64
Boogieman replied to TurboGPX's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Use sadp to set the camera to 192.0.0.64...connect ONLY the pc and the camera to the switch..nothing else. IPv4 Address: 192.0.0.64 SubnetMask: 255.255.255.0 DefaultGateway: 192.0.0.128 ??? HTTP Port: 80??? (I previously set it to something else) The best thing to do is simply reset the camera to defaults....then flash.. -

Remote View works through LAN but Won't word through WAN
Boogieman replied to madmandare's topic in General Digital Discussion
all you need is a dynamic dns service like afraid.org, no-ip or dyndns...this will update your hostname so you dont have to worry about changes to the ip address. -

Have you tested the port? is it open using canyouseeme.org? The DNS entry in your DVR should be 8.8.8.8, googles dns service, not your routers. What type of internet provider do you have? cable? sat? -
Need advise on a one camera analog setup.
Boogieman replied to jay2k6ie's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Ok so I can add my own HD.. thats great I have a spare 1TB sata in the house. I think I'll go for the bullet. I dont have to worry about firmware issues with these Dahua products from aliexpress do I? No issues with firmware...though if you ever want to upgrade you will have to find the newerst firmware as dahua does not publish it.....if it works out of the box when you get it, you wont need to upgrade anyway...dahua firmware is pretty easy to find anyway.....you will have a much harder time getting firmware for a no name cheap nvr, if it is even available... -

That is what the NVR is..you need to add the hard drive... The dome many only be 2 axis and therefore cannot be wall mounted unless you use a wall mount, im not sure. They dont specify. -

I dont think the link to this motorized varifocal worked before can you link it to me again please. Can you recommend an NVR with harddrive built in so I dont need a computer. thanks http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015-Original-Dahua-IPC-HDBW4300R-Z-1080P-gun-waterproof-network-camera-3MP-IR-ip-camera-cctv/32327314062.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.2.H4efKw&ws_ab_test=201407_5,201444_6,201409_2 or http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/2015-Original-Dahua-IPC-HFW4300R-Z-1080P-gun-waterproof-network-camera-3MP-IR-ip-camera-cctv/638300_32327131317.html get the NVR from dahua, in my post above...dont mix cams and NVR..get the same brand. -

If you buy the camera and NVR from the same manufacturer and home run the cables directly from to the NVR, there is ZERO extra networking that needs to be done over an analog system. Its plug and play. Regardless of the way you go, run ethernet for future upgrades. http://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-IP-NVR-with-2TB-HDD%2c-4-1080p-Cameras-with-130'-Night-Vision.product.100153164.html http://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-IP-NVR-with-2TB-HDD%2c-8-1080p-Cameras-with-130'-Night-Vision.product.100217003.html# Who cares what the interface looks like, its not a beauty contest. Function over form. For the record, there was never hours of networking needed...it was only folks who did not know what they were doing who had issues. -

Wow, what a child. I'm guessing under 20? Call the teacher asap. You were not belittled. You were being rude and subsequently called out on it. No. You are, and have been, the aggressor in all of your posts that I went thru. I did go thru some of your posts. You seem to think you are an internet badass that is superior to anyone. You call people liars, claim that people [except yourself of course ] all have agendas to not be truthful. You are not being truthful about saying you are not belittling, when you have proven yourself to be an ass, from post to post. By the way, your guessing is about as accurate as your own self description...horribly wrong. The easiest thing for you to do, is to just stop replying, especially when requested to. But you knew that, didn't you? I guess you selectively chose not to read the posts where i spent lots of time helping others, going as far as logging in via team viewer. You are a disrespectful know it all, why even come here for advice, you know better than anyone else. As far as the posts you read, yes, they do have agendas, if you look at my posts, I refer folks to the best system for their needs, regardless of where its purchased from or the manufacture, including, samsclub, costco, aliexpress, amazon, hikvision, dahua, swan, qsee etc.... Please dont use foul language on a public forum, it indicates a level of immaturity (the smilies you use send the same message). -

How do i setup a fixed camera that is delayed?
Boogieman replied to simondo99's topic in Computers/Networking
There are various apps that allow you to do this like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appyhand.videocoach there are more professional solutions as well, all depends on your budget. -

OK. Because I didn't word it the way YOU wanted, I am a wiseguy x2...Had you not been attempting to belittle me, which is what you are doing again with your post, Boogieman, you would have seen what I needed. If you are not willing to take the entire 3 seconds it takes to highlight and search google then why are you here? Just to belittle people like me? Please do not respond to anything I might post here as I don't care if you do have the right answer, I don't need it from you or any comment from you, actually. Have a nice life. A bit a reading comprehension is in order. Your response to my post should have been "my device requires a 2.5 drive". Not the wiseguy response saying you cannot find a 2.5 version with a shock face. Please see my posts before you accuse me of not wanting to help people out. You are simply one of those folks who feels like he is owed the word by forum members - they come around every once in a while. I have no duty to do research for you. Despite that, I pointed you towards the wd red drive with a link to newegg. I guess no good deed goes unpunished. So, why dont you go by a 1tb ssd for 300 bux and call it a day, see how that works out for you. -

If you go with a wide angle you will not be able to identify anyone. The 1.3mp will be better at night though. Go with the motorized varifocal so you can zoom into just the area you need covered. -

You were not belittled, you were being a wiseguy, and you are doing it again with your subsequent post. If you think I should have downloaded your devices spec sheet to determine the hard drive size your smoking something strong. A simple, my device requires a 2.5 drive, would suffice. -

You will not see any improvement with the ssd...get a wd purple. Haven't found a 2.5" one yet. No reason to be a wiseguy. If your nvr does not support a 3.5 drive, get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236600 ..there is ZERO benefit to ssd for these NVR's...instead of wasting your money on an SSD, get a better NVR....but im sure you know better... -
This is because you did not properly set the WDR and other settings for night vision...also, 3mp cameras have worse night vision than comparative 1.3 and 2mp cameras.

That quality its terrible...here is the same area with a 2.8mm 1080p hikvision watch in 1080pIf you get a larger lens, it will be even clearer but more zoomed in... You are better off buying a china hikvision than this 960h... Also look at dahua.. Here is a motorized varifocal (so you can adjust the focal length really easy anytime) 130. Pick a a dahua NVR http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Dahua-NVR-NVR4204-08-16-32-Network-Video-Recorder-NVR4204-NVR4208-NVR4216-NVR4232/32378947160.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.2.XAT6ZD&ws_ab_test=201407_4,201444_5,201409_5 and you are done...this is probably the best solution. Or your can record direct to pc with dahuas free pss software. -

You can have a ip camera for 100 dollars...not sure why you think its expensive...analog is going to give you a crap image.
