DS-2CD2032-I Firmware update
Boogieman replied to empedokles's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Before you try any update confirm that you dont have a china region camera or the update will brick it! Where did you buy your camera? -
Need some good advice on new system (POE outdoor)
Boogieman replied to wnix's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You are not going to get 100f of quality night vision any camera unless you have a large lens or get a ptz with optical zoom and strong IR...when you are zoomed in like that you will have a very narrow fov...mount the cameras closer to your target. Perhaps I worded wrong. Some of these nicer Dahua/Hikvision cameras around the $100-180 range state 30m IR range. And I'm sure that's good enough. The camera we have now was purchased at monoprice about 3 years ago for about $180, at that time it was one of their better cameras. It's alright, but I'm not too impressed. So anything better will be great. a 3mp camera I'm sure will impress. Keep in mind that you cannot even get a good day image at that distance with respect to being able to ID anyone with those cameras. The new 4mp hikvision have improved low light image, though if night vision is primary I would go with their new 2mp cameras which should be better at night than the 4mp, they are certainly better than the 3mp variants. Hikvision also have bullet cameras with very strong IR built in.. http://www.hikvision.com/europe/Products_show.asp?id=9883 http://www.hikvision.com/europe/Products_show.asp?id=9925 http://www.hikvision.com/europe/Products_show.asp?id=9929 -
It can operate over poe OR wifi ..with wifi you will need to power the camera with a local 12v connection...wifi is asking for trouble...It is also unlikely that you will be able to run the hikvision software on that old pc....you also dont want to run that old pc 24/7 because its a power hog... That particular camera does have an SD card slot that you can record to instead of the pc... Not the the camera is likely a china region camera and you will brick it if you attempt to upgrade the firmware. How many cameras do you intend to install and what is your budget?

cable modem in garage and ethernet to router in house
Boogieman replied to BGinFL's topic in Computers/Networking
That splitter operates by only using two pair (out of the four pair in each cable) for each connection...that is why its rated at 10/100....its not a big deal if your internet speeds are under 100, but can cause issues with crosstalk. If you really dont want to run new cable, place the router in the garage and a switch on the other end. IF you need the router inside for wifi signal strength consider a cheap router in the garage and setup your old router as an access point. -
No, that is not correct. You will need two pair for each camera. Also depending on the mode, poe can travel on the sames pairs as the data (mode a)... Regardless, this is a TERRIBLE idea. Run a separate cable for each camera. Cable is cheap, having issues because of cross-talk, improper crimps, etc is much more expensive.

960h 1080 over coax or utp
Boogieman replied to JEFFsafeguard's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
These are rebranded hikvison TVI cameras. They sell baluns to specific to TVI, so that you can run them on ethernet cable...i never tested it though. Search for tvi baluns. -
You are not understanding how ip works. There is no separate pair for data and ptz communications. Its is always best practice to use 1 cable for each camera...If you are doing a new install, run one cable for each camera, with the proper rj45 jack on the end. technically though the cameras require only two pairs for the network connection as they are not gigabit.

960h 1080 over coax or utp
Boogieman replied to JEFFsafeguard's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Huh? 1080p is much higher resolution than 960h...its day and night difference. You are most likely being sold an HD over coax system that is either, TVI, SDI or CVI... -

If its just the camera that is broken, it will be cheaper to replace it. How do you know its actually broken? what is the issue? -
Budget NVR with motion detection
Boogieman replied to HenrysCat's topic in General Digital Discussion
You keep posting the same camera..I guess the others are not working. That was your point. Regardless, good luck on that unit being reliable. -
Budget NVR with motion detection
Boogieman replied to HenrysCat's topic in General Digital Discussion
lol, your cameras are not all onvif. They will not all work. That is why you are only showing a single camera. Even for the onvif camera I doubt the motion detection works at all..the fact that you can set it in the interface is meaningless. -

Unbricking your Dahua IP camera (Tips, Tricks & Firmware)
Boogieman replied to cctv_007's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
you probably reset them...they all have a fixed ip ending in .108...plug one in at a time and change the ip address...so that they wont conflict. I have reset them. IP is .108 however they don't work at all even when plugged in 1 at a time. I was mid writing this when we found out that the cable inside the camera had come out. I will upload pictures later. That is your problem. After you reset them, they all have the same ip address. Clear the routers dhcp lease..it might be trying hold the 108 address for the first device.. -
Audio out for IP camera
Boogieman replied to n0fx's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The audio out is not for the mic audio...its for a speaker...the mic audio is transferred over IP via ethernet. -

Signal loss every minute for a few seconds using Blue Iris

Increase the receive buffer to 20mb. camera properties>video>configuration -
No its my job to protect folks from scammers like you lying about how great D1 resolution cameras are...then lying about how the same sensors are used in 4mp cameras and implying that the image is the same. Mission accomplished. We can see the difference between D1 and 4mp..if you cant, its time for glasses.

The hikvision cameras on amazon, will come with no warranty or support. You will also not be able to update the firmware as they are china region cameras. If you are going to use a hikvsion NVR and not third party VMS, make sure all your cameras and NVR are US region. Not just english, US region. That particular model cannot be wall mounted because its two axis... The avertex system is more expensive because it has optical zoom and onboard sd card storage.

Tested and Trusted Analog cameras
Boogieman replied to benharuna's topic in General Digital Discussion
I would say Costco is too rich to afford counterfits. But analog cameras are too cheap to afford counterfeits. But I know you live on installing counterfeits, simply because not being too rich. I have no idea what you are talking about, your writing is gibberish. You claimed earlier that the cameras I was recommending from costco were counterfeits. Thanks for admitting you were LYING. Dont forget that NO ONE wants your junk Analog cameras. Its 2015 not 1990...stop selling outdated junk. Also, please stop sending users PM's trying to sell your junk. -
Tested and Trusted Analog cameras
Boogieman replied to benharuna's topic in General Digital Discussion
I am getting a better translator, Boogieman. You can go get a brand new vaccum at Cosco. Just like you can get a brand new camera replaced when it dies out after 10 years hard-working. Isn't it what you said?. Sorry the analog cameras are too cheap to support Counterfeits. So Boogieman does trash all Curses on Analog cameras, simply because he lives on Counterfeits. Once again you lie. Costco does not sell counterfeits. Why are you lying? Please stop promoting D1 because your company sells junk D1 cameras. Also stop PMing users trying to sell you D1 Junk.
