  1. This camera is fixed lens..nothing moves unless you get on a ladder and move it. if you get the 2.8mm lens and run it in 1080p (not 3mp) you will get about 100 degrees of horizontal view. The new hikvision 4mp should be a bit wider viewing angle...plus they have improved night and low light vision. Shame on you, boogieman. You keep promoting Hikvision 4MP, all over threads in the forum. Now I come to understand what you are selling for a piece of bread. That's a shame. SunnyKim, Please stop attacking me simply because I pointed out the the 4mp will have a wider image using the same 2.8mm lens as a 3mp..the poster specifically wanted a wide angle....Are you mad because I did not recommend a BLURRY D1 low resolution camera that your company peddles on unsuspecting suckers? Stop trying to promote your junk. If you read my posts you will see that I recommend, hikvision, dahua and rebranded versions of the same from laview, swann, qsee..from various vendors including Costco. I know you have accused me of owning costco...lol, idiot.

Sorry to say that I can not agree to your opinion quoted above. Most parts are totally unfounded. You are teaching that to run the business is simply bashing old technology, and praising the new technology. No one said anything about running a business. Stop trying to peddle D1 Junk in 2015.

There are cheaper 1080p options out there...100 dollars a camera. 720p, for 60....still much better than junk D1. If by "high end" you mean under 200 dollars for an NVR...then you have a serious problem. Stop suggesting JUNK D1 resolution. I can get a CRT monitor or TV for free, doesnt mean I recommend folks for buy those over a flat screen hd tv. Stop peddling your useless junk to unsuspecting members. All they need to do is go to youtube and look at D1 vs 1080p... I will say this again despite your insistence otherwise. ANALOG should NEVER be an option for a new home install in 2015, NEVER. Saving 200 dollars is penny wise, pound foolish (look that one up in your translator). Also keep in mind that the installation cost can be much cheaper for IP since the cameras do not have to be home run. Heck, the user doesnt even need an NVR depending on the amount of storage required it can be done by the camera with an SD card slot. Any suggestion otherwise by you is simply an attempt to sell your company's junk. Please go focus on making some good IP cameras.

I still dont understand. Please help me understand. Enter your thoughts into another, better translator...You cannon analogy has been debunk..because unlike a cannon which can cause damage when used to kill a roach, no one EVER has said, "this video is too clear" too much resolution..this is terrible ..stop being silly. Stop trying to sell users junk. Shame on you!

This boogieman seems to believe Hikvision is the High Tech American Company. That's funny, once promoting Hik's 3MP, now 4MP camera. This guy does not understand why 90% of Las Vegas is still in analog system. He believes that they do not have money and they are not smart enough to understand how IP camera works. In our terms, a dumb frog at the bottom of a well does not see the world outside. I think you have it wrong. The op is a homeowner. In english that means he owns his own home, not a casino. Its not your fault, im sure your english to chinese software made an error and your though he was a casino. He cannot have 60 cameras each with a 12mm lens each covering the size of a table. Kapish? He doesnt need spot monitoring. Stop recommendation low resolution junk cameras to end users here. If there a 2 second delay in the stream it wont matter to him. With IP he gets MUCH better image quality than your analog junk. POE so he doesnt need to run separate power. The ability to stream direct from the camera to an NVR as well as a hidden nas or a second nvr. The ability to run the cameras to a single switch then only run 1 wire back to the network instead of having to home run each and every camera. There is no good reason to install analog in a home in 2015. Doing so is simply not proper and is done by those looking to save a few bux on equipment and dont care about future changes to the system. Please stop peddling your analog junk. Whats funny about promoting the hikvision 4mp cameras? They have improved low light and night vision over the hikvsion 3mp. I know its hard for you to understand that technology improves because your company is still making and selling cameras with crappy D1 resolution. For the record the q-see cameras I recommend in the other thread were rebranded dahua not hikvision. Again please do the end users a favor and stop recommending that they waste their money on your companies literally useless low end junk. By the time they realize their mistake they have to rip out coax and replace with ethernet. Shame on you SunnyKim for recommending garbage just so your company can make a sale. Walk with your head down in shame. Stop recommending D1 garbage resolution in 2015.

the 4mp cameras have much better low light and night vision than the 3mp... Be wary where you purchase from because you may have firmware issues, and confirm that the hikvision NVR you purchase will work with the 4mp cameras.. If you want to save some money, the 2mp also have better low light performance than the 3mp...

I thought this guy knows something, but learned that he knew nothing but 4 mp camera from Hikvision. Go get a brand new vaccum at Cosco. Stop trying to sell you junk via this forum. Please use a better chinese to english translation software. Why do you always suggest junk low resolution analog. Or in this case sdi, which cannot compare to ip, and is only useful in very select applications? Its because your company sells junk analog and you are here to promote it.
  10. Make sure the IR is set to on...there is a separate setting to "enable IR", its not in the regular image/video section. If its on, then you have a stuck IR filter.

SDI has no place in a new home install. It should be IP. End of story. SDI does not trump IP in image quality. Comparing SDI security cameras to the cameras they use in TV studios is like comparing a chevy to a ferrari. Run ethernet, install POE IP cameras. The new hikvision 4mp cameras have great image quality and improved low light and night vision over the 3mp.

New Home System - Beginner - Looking for Advice

Please do yourself a HUGE favor and run ethernet (cat5e is fine, but the cost of cat6 is negligible so do cat6)..This will allow you to install high resolution IP cameras (or analog - using bluns, but thats junk)...you will be able to use the single cat 6 to power and pull data from the camera. Siamese is used for low resolution analog or HD over coax which is a limited technology meant for those who have coax and cant rerun the cable. Bottom line, run ethernet. Dont use Junk cable..make sure its NOT copper clad aluminium (CCA), thats garbage..buy from a reputable source, monoprice, cable matters etc...

New User, New to CCTV, swann help.

You can delete video manually as well. The option is there. If you dont want to take the time to learn about port forwarding, then you will need to hire someone to do it, they can port forward or setup a VPN. If its not working unless you have perfect signal, that could be due to your wifi router.

New User, New to CCTV, swann help.

looks like a hikvision rebranded NVR... You dont have to delete stored video, just set it to overwrite once full You should be able to log into the unit using IE and the ip address of the NVR. For remote viewing you will need to learn about port forwarding..there are many threads on this subject.

  17. Go get a brand new vaccum while I am considering to upgrade the translator. By the way, if you could find & sell the item that can drive 4 X 4K monitor for spot displaying 16 IP (1080P) cameras, you would be well-off. Value Added Software Like Facial Recognition or Object Tracking would require all 16 Ch Simultaneous Real Time Decoding, based on Main 1080P compressed streams. That could be called HighTech. That may be needed in 2015 or so, were to borrow your terminology. I really dont understand what you are taking about..no one said anything about driving 4x4k monitors. you do need a better translator. Stop with your useless posts and stop bringing up D1 junk in 2015.
  18. Sunnykim, Its not my fault that you cannot READ english or understand it. IT RECORDS IN FULL 4k (if you have a 4k camera or at 4mp with the cameras included)..that is what I bash your junk D1 that your company sells...D1 is junk. For spot monitoring you are looking at 16 channels, so its not full screen therefore substream is more than enough - the monitor itself cannot display full 1080p on 16 channels. For playback its the same thing, if you need to get detail, you pull up one channel on full screen..the unit can play 4ch at full resolution simultaneously as well...and stop lying about analog system offering dvd quality...maybe top notch 300 analog camera, but not the ones you recommend for 30 dollars, despite what they claim. STOP trying to sell anyone on your JUNK D1 cameras. Enough already, its 2015...if you want to sell D1 and CRT monitors, go do it in the third world.
  19. This makes no sense at all. How do you connect the hd analog camera to the TV? You need a DVR..in that case an NVR will accomplish the same thing with better image quality and the benefits of IP.
  20. Thanks for your kind explanation. But what I pointed out was that both playback and spot monitoring needs to decompress the encoded bit stream. 16 Ch X 1080P X 30FPS could be tough to handle for both softwares and hardwares-stand alone NVR. Thanks again Why in the world would you need to replay 16ch at 1080p? and why at 30fps..whats wrong with playback at substream resolution... For the record the NVR can playback 4 channels at FULL resolution, that is 4k (the nvr is capable of 4k, but the cameras included are only 4mp)
  21. The point is you dont need a 4k screen to take advantage of higher resolution cameras.
  22. Dont over complicate it, if they are doing this on a regular basis, simple have a camcorder handy, once you wake up, turn it on, record them... if you want cctv, What is your budget? Like toss said, dont get junk as it will be worthless.
  23. You dont need two NVR's...simply run a cable from the second switch to NVR or your first switch... The dlink is a NAS...it may have NVR capability but they will likely charge per camera licensing... The axis camera does not have IR, so you will need good exterior lighting. Look at the threads about the new hikvision 4mp cameras..they should be available soon via US sellers for about 150. If you want an all in one package consider this rebranded dahua system. http://www.costco.com/Q-See-16-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-3TB-HDD-and-8-4MP-HD-IP-Cameras.product.100213199.html
  24. Is you camera running in night mode with IR? if it is you will certainly benefit from the exir, because it less susceptible from spiderweb interference. It is also more vandal proof. The 4mp has improved low light performance - this is a new development as in the past higher resolution generally meant lower low light performance. Your screen resolution is irrelevant...the benefit of higher resolution cameras is that that you get more detail when you zoom in. There is very little actual pixel density benefit when going from 3mp to 4mp though..the primary benefit is the low light improvement.
  25. The low light performance of the 4mp is much improved...go with the 4mp turret not the bullet..better IR, and less prone to spider problems.
