Low cost solution for high quality live view monitor
Boogieman replied to OneGigant's topic in General Digital Discussion
I apologize if I have confused -- I am not the original poster. In his attempt to somehow trash me, Sunny's reading comprehension has disappeared. Please forgive him, he uses an online translator...I for one am surprised that sunny did not recommend ripping the whole system out and replacing with D1 analog because it superior to 3mp ip cams As far as the op, NVR is the cheapest and most stable route..another option is fire tv or another WIRED android box.. -
Looking for decent CCTV system ~$500 Canadian (small store)
Boogieman replied to swchoi89's topic in Security Cameras
neither of those systems is IP... The first is 960h which is poor resolution (they use 720tvl to make it appear like 720p but its not). The second is better 720p, but still not an ip system...Its hd over coax Forgive me as I have negative 9000 knowledge in CCTVs. In the specification, it says System Type: HD IP NVR... which I assumed that it is an IP camera. So would the Lorex brand still be OK for my purpose? If not, how about this one: http://www.costco.ca/Lorex%C2%AE-4-channel-High-Definition-Digital-NVR-with-1TB-HDD-%2526-2-HD-1080p-Weatherproof-Cameras.product.100115634.html The lorex 720p system you linked to above is a CVI system..HD over coax.. The one you lined to for 649 is WAY overpriced... You can get a much better system for the money -

Not sure why you think the hikvisions will fail..Ive had a bunch of them running for years with no issues. If you dont want to use hikvisions free ivms, you can buy an i5 haswell machine for 300 dollars...run blue iris and you can easily do 15fps at 3mp for 8 cams....no reason to settle for 2fps...
-
what are you using this system for?
-
The only possible thing that could fix your issue is a firmware update...check with samsung...my point was that if its within the return period, then send it back..dont mess with it..cheap does not equal value...you will spend more time on it than its worth.
-
Return it...buy something reliable...there is a reason it has terrible reviews...
-
yes, you will need to set it up properly....unless your internet provider is satellite or cellular..
-
I'd like to keep it under $1000, if possible. Do you live in the US? For indoors consider the hikvision Hikvision 2CD2420F-IW 2MP camera with a 2.8mm wide lens...google the model number (this forum will not allow positing of vendor links). Cost 129 from US sellers and the firmware is upgradable (unlike most of the cameras on ali express)... For outdoors consider a hikvision turret camera...there are some new 4mp coming soon (currently only available from aliexpress)...then select a hikvision NVR that meets your needs.

Hik Mobile Requires Hik Server - It's A Problem
Boogieman replied to Quantum's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks Tom, but that's for 32bit. I have more than 4GB of RAM, and it won't run: sh: ./iVMS-4200: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory And it doesn't give any idea what its dependencies might be. Can't get the mobile app to connect to the cameras. In the mobile app I've set the IP, UN:PW and port but it can't connect. I've tried both ports 554 and 8000. I'm port-forwarding these ports in the router, and the cameras are connected directly to the router. In my local systems I use exclusively rtsp: with VLC, but of course I can't rewind or get any services, only Live View. The port 80 service only works with Internet Exploser in Winduhs; nothing I've done has made it with in Firefox. you need to use the media port - default 8000... Make sure the credentials are correct.. -
Hik Mobile Requires Hik Server - It's A Problem
Boogieman replied to Quantum's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Of course milestone and blueiris mobile apps insist on connecting to their server..thats the whole point of the app. There are lots of other apps that connect to cameras directly. Hikvisions mobile app 4500 does not need any server running and will connect direct to the cameras. ipcamviewer and tinycam also work, but you cannot review video. -
if you used vpn, then you could remote view from any pc (using ivms4200 client) or android/ios phone, in matrix...not one at a time..
-
Yes, I am thinking on doing it (sell it). So If acquiring that IP cam and let's say I setup 6 units and I wish to watch it from outside, would I have to do 6 port-forwards on my router right and assign different ports on the cam for remote viewing? Yes, or buy a cheap hikvision NVR for 200... Or you can use VPN and not forward at all.
-
My advice is to toss it out (or sell it) why invest in old, low resolution technology...with the camera I lined to you dont even need an NVR...just pop an SD card into it...you can also record to pc, using hikvisions free ivms software.
-
Thanks for the info. I will definitely consider all your advice for my next project - I see this is the best option - importing also. On the other hand, I have read that HD cams requires also an HD DVR unit which is logic. I have noticed that their are SDI cameras and TVI camera. Currently we only have a regular DVR unit -FLIR D3000 series 8 CH. So for now, I have to either chose any of the 2 of cameras mentioned at the beginning. You have advice using the 700 TVL. Just one more question, what is the HR+2.0 for? Thanks. Dont pay any attention to the fancy names they use for features in the camera..if you insist on analog then go with hikvision. With IP cameras some like the one I posted let you record direct to the camera, or you can use an NVR. TVI and SDI are hd over coax cable not ethernet like ip...yes you would need a sdi or tvi dvr..they are cheap.. That is why I asked if this is a new project...you said yes, then why do you have a dvr?
-
Sure. First you can buy IP cameras for 80 dollars... http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/2013-Hikvision-Original-infrared-gun-waterproof-network-camera-DS-2CD2032-I-3MP-IR-ip-camera-support/638300_1678190319.html This camera can record to SD card as well. Choose the 4mm lens. When it says 540tvl, that is just used to choose the lens size..the camera is full HD 3Megapixel... This camera will blow away the 700tvl camera. Here is a basic idea of the difference between analog 700tvl and 1080p Please do some more research before wasting you money on poor resolution cameras.
-
Thanks for your reply. This is for a new system and we only have these 2 options. Go with the hikvision...dont use no name brands. Why is this your only choice? These low resolution analog cameras should not be used for a new install in 2015. There are HD cameras at comparable cost. What is your budget? Who is recommending these?
-
is this for a new system or are you replacing a camera on an existing system?
-
If you would bother to take some time and read the links you would see that its absolutely possible. Why else are they selling a TVI balun? Where did you see that its not possible? Who are the "some say no"? Simply buy one made for that purpose. If you are running ethernet may as well go with an ip system..
-
No, its not! Please dont spam the forum with irrelevant links..did you even read the original post?

Recomend PTZ Camera that will detect face and zoom in.
Boogieman replied to Cadillac Bill's topic in General Digital Discussion
This looks good. I can afford it with a bit of a stretch. Researching this camera, any other cameras someone can recommend? What are you using this for? It may make more sense to use a few good fixed cameras that can be had for 100-150. -

Please ignore anyone who suggests analog cameras in 2015. The image will be very low resolution and awful. What is your budget?

PoE power pins of RJ45 connector
Boogieman replied to bentech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What the OP is describing is Mode B poe sometimes called passive. There is no negotiation using this method. 802.3af compliant devices need to support mode A and mode B.
