Wanting to upgrade my cameras, suggestions please
Boogieman replied to aNEWcctGUY's topic in Security Cameras
960H is not hd... you want 720p or 1080p...start reading and learning. -
lenses will cost you money, then you need enclosure, they look like crap in a home setup...another option is to do a hd over analog using something like dahua CVI..lots of theads on this...costco often has sales on these systems for 400-500...will be way better than the analog camera you originally posted and has everything you need..I personally still prefer ip..but this 400 dollar sytem is a good option. http://www.costco.com/Q-See-8-Channel-HD-720p-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-8-720p-Cameras.product.100161016.html?catalogId=10701&keyword=824258&langId=-1&storeId=10301&refine= http://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-HD-720p-Security-System-with-1TB-HDD-and-8-720p-Cameras.product.100121251.html?catalogId=10701&keyword=979818&langId=-1&storeId=10301&refine=

free onvif app for iOS ???
Boogieman replied to lethanhtrung's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
have you tried scanning the camera with ipcamview to find a compatible model so you can control ptz? Try tinycam... what cameras do you have? tinycam is ok on android, but on ios it only supports 1 camera and many functions are limited i can connect my onvif camera with ipcamviewer by onvif port but can not control PTZ, i don't know my camera's manufacturer, it's a chinese babymonitor-camera ipcamviewer lets you can the camera to find a compatible model that you can then select from the dropdown...run the scan.. -

If you are broke buy one or two ip cameras and record to sd card..Search google for this model Hikvision DS-2CD2120F-IW You will find it for 129 from a US seller with warranty...otherwise you can get them from aliexpress for about 90-100 with no warranty and possible firmware issues...it will be night and day compared to that old bosch...add more cameras and an nvr later...you can use an amazon fire tv or any android box to view on the tv...you are looking at old school analog cameras...dont waste your time and money...

Those cameras require external enclosures and dont have night vision and are huge and nasty looking for a home setup. what is your budget? how many cameras? There are much better cameras out, that are easier to install using POE...

Looking for a way to stream 4 HD cameras
Boogieman replied to Ballistic's topic in General Digital Discussion
I didn't know you could do that with the Amazon Fire TV Any more info on how you set that up or links to articles about that? Simply load ivms4500 on the amazon fire or use something like ipcamviewer or tinycam... -

Ill look into the Hik NVRs. I love the 3MP cameras, im just trying to get some camera screens in a few peoples offices so when they need to let someone in at the gate they can see, i dont want them having to have a Qnap account on my QVR and using more bandwidth on that vlan, all the cameras are on a different vlan so streaming directly from the cameras is a better option i feel. its not limited to the 50 dollar budget im open to spending 100-150ish with some wiggle room.. i just don't want to be buying 300 dollar boxes for each office or something.. Spent a ton on this setup already. hdmi over ethernet - if you simply need to display the same cameras on all screens...this will be most stable. amazon fire tv wired..the bandwidth is minimal. -
Prices of cameras

The hikvision is 85 only if you buy from china with no warranty..you will have issues with firmware updates (if you need them)..that said if you dont care about firmware and dont need a warranty then its a good deal. Otherwise if you buy from a hikvision from an authorized seller, its about 150..still a way better deal than the geovision camera...note that the 3401 has an sd card slot, the 2032 does not.. There are lots of discussions about hikvision, start reading.. -
Dahua's DVR getting hit all over the place
Boogieman replied to secplus's topic in Digital Video Recorders
You should never leave the default username and password....dont even tell the customer that there is a default..simply change it ... -
Alcon rebrands dahua cameras..so if you are paying a premium over dahua you are being ripped off.. manufacture lux and IR rating are worthless you cannot use them to compare to other makes...you can use them to compare models from the same company.

Best 8 Channel, 5 Camera, NVR system?
Boogieman replied to Emmet 'Doc' Brown's topic in Security Cameras
junk...dont even consider this type of system from spammers. -
First thing you should do is disconnect the system so that no more files are overwritten... Is the drive full now? if so, your drive was not large enough for two weeks of recording... Second thing is not to install systems that you are not familiar with and to understand the limitations of recording times..
-
What do you mean by solid state NVR? What unit are you using now?
-
no way a 4 camera standalone nvr is drawing 150w unless you are running a pc.
-
Most thieves do not streal dvr's..If you are paranoid, use ip cameras and record to the NVR (or pc NVR) as well as a NAS on location...Some systems allow you to ftp snapshots or video remotely... Start reading and learning about these systems BEFORE you buy...this way you wont be back complaining about poor function or image quality...

Your problem is most likely cheap cable....make sure you are not using CCA-copper clad aluminium....

Boogieman replied to amer1024's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You need to decrease the camera bitrate..fps has no effect on bandwidth... -
Set the http port to 8585 - something other than 80..its may be blocked by your isp..have you tried to see if the port is open? canyouseeme.org Are you trying from a remote location? if you are trying from your pc on the network and you are using a router/modem combo you may be having a nat loopback issue..test using your cell phone while its on cellular not wifi.

Hik cams only using 16 GB of 2 TB drive! Do I need an NAS?
Boogieman replied to theTastyCat's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Why are you giving up on it so easily...there has got to be a setting with respect to the storage space used... You can also use hikvisions free ivms..will only work with hikvision cameras -

I dont use genious vision, but this issue is a setting in the software and has nothing to do with the storage setup in the camera itself, you can ignore the camera storage settings.. -
What is their pricing like? It depends on the vendor but here was my pricing from 6.x Professional: * Base price (including 8 cameras): $1,732 * 8 Camera Add-on: $1148 7.0 requires a new license and I'm unsure of the upgrade pricing. Of course you can download and test their system for 30 days. 200+ per camera...no thanks... OP is looking for a home system...thats overkill..
