1. Blue iris can do this... Note those cameras do not have sound so number 3 wont work with those models.. The 2532IS has a built in mic...the 2132F-IS has a mic connection (you need to add your own)

LOREX OR SWANN, HELP PLEASE!!

There is no reason to repost the same thread every single day...

NEED HELP LOREX or SWANN

They are both pretty much the same...save the 200 and go with lorex..the beauty of costco is that of you dont like it at some point simply bring it back.

NEED HELP LOREX or SWANN

Both are fine...one is lorex is rebranded dahua (flir in this case) and the swann is hikvision... Costco is a great value because of their unlimited return policy and if you dont need specific camera types like dome or different lenses (2.8mm or 6mm) then those are perfectly fine..they will be the same as dahua and hikvision.
5. What kind of system are you installing? regular analog? or hd over coax like cvi? Have you considered an ip system? If you are installing a new system, it should be 720p at the minimum, 1080p would be better.
6. oopsies, I should of made it clear that my run will not be that long.. I just wanted to know what is a reputable cable maker and/or supplier to get bulk cat5e so I run 4 cameras at about 200ft each.. read some ugly reviews on amazon for bulk cat5e cable. be very careful with amazon/ebay cable...many are CCA or copper clad aluminium and they often hide the info... Buy monoprice, or on amazon look for cable matters or cables 2 go

Help out a newbie

ispy its free if you dont need remote viewing or alerts (charge for remote viewing and alerts)... blue iris 60 Milestone xprotect go These might not work with your capture device.. Next time go with an HD ip camera, the picture will be better and it will be easier to integrate with the pc..not need for capture card..
8. Dont buy noname cameras/nvr you are asking for trouble.. Where do you live?
9. Cut your losses, and dont waste your time on this.. Buy hikvision or dahua

New to CCTV, some advice?

running ethernet is easier than you think..consult with a professional who runs cable all day.. you can also use power line adapters... how are you going to run power for the cameras? are they indoor or out.. Start reading up on ip cameras, POE power, etc... The "base unit" you refer to is an NVR.. Amazingly fast reply! Many thanks! I'd sadly be doing anything myself due to fund constraints of around £300 max. The cameras would be situated outside near windows on either side of the house thus enabling the power cabling to be ran along the framework to the inside and ease of access for cleaning etc. Get a camera like the hikvision 2132F-IWS, this is a specific model number that has wifi, sd card, and 3 axis rotation so you can mount it on a wall....This record to the sd card, this way if your wifi craps out you can still record... These are available on aliexpress http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Free-shipping-New-Arrival-3Mp-Audio-I-O-interface-Alarm-I-O-interface-Mini-Dome-Camera/638300_32229467849.html You will not have any warranty and these are china region cameras that may pose firmware upgrade issues...you can pay a bit more and get them locally. Buy one, see how you like it..remember, any camera can be made wifi using a small wifi bridge...

13. First, what are you using the cameras for? Why do you need ptz, vs a wide angle 3mp camera? Second, if the ptz has optical zoom it will in fact record the the zoomed in image. Third, dont buy cheap crap just because you cannot afford anything more expensive, but 3 good cameras vs 8 crappy ones and add more when you can..otherwise you are in for a world of frustration and hurt..

Help with a basic system.

qsee is fine, their ip systems are rebranded dahua...make sure you are buying at least 720p ip system NOT 720tvl analog... They also have some cheaper hd over analog systems using CVI or SDI technology...there are a number of discussions of the pros and cons... Whatever you do, dont buy an analog sytem that is 700tvl or 960h, the image will be horrid compared to 720p..you should be looking for 720p or 1080p

Help with a basic system.

Get an ip system, lorex or swann form costco, they are rebranded dahua and hikvision... If you dont like it you can return it anytime. http://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-4-1080p-Cameras.product.100153164.html

Recommendations for a Home Scenery Camera System

Analogy Kinda like driving my M1A3 Abrams 3 miles to Sunday breakfast! It will do the job and then some!! My wife (aka "boss") wants me to get 2 of your suggested Hikvision DS-2DE4582-AE 2MP's. My Scot ancestors are rolling in the grave. Anyway ... thanks for the suggestion & stay out of the way of my main battle tank. Cheers, Doug Most of what you are paying for is the ptz and image quality, the rest is icing on the cake and firmware related..you are not going to pay much less if you remove features..its costs next to nothing to add ir.. If you dont need ir and would like a smaller package this is another great camera Dahua DH-SD42212S-HN It has 12x zoom also sold as ESIP-PTZMINI12X remember that both these cameras require poe+ not standard poe.

Recommendations for a Home Scenery Camera System

Thanks for the reply, however, my problem is hardware; I mentioned the software setup if someone came up with neat hardware solution that required a more creative software solution. again, many thanks! If all you need is 4x zoom then look at the Hikvision DS-2DE4582-AE 2MP...its available for about 500 If you need more there are other options from hikvision and dahua for about 700 or so... There is no market for scenery cameras....dont kid yourself...the security ptz do the job and then some...
18. ok, I spoke with ak357 who is a real nice guy and obviously very knowledgeable in this field..As he explained it, he was able to extract the image from the recorded video that may have more data then the screenshot posted... We agree that there is no way to extract that licence plate image from the posted image. AK357 also showed me some impressive avigilon zoom capabilities...It is unclear how they are able to do it but they are able to extract plates from video that appears to be washed out...
19. Color ? what are u talking about ? We are talking about Lic plate only in mean time check your PM Thx Black is a color...
20. Boogieman you are very quiet for last few hours I am waiting for you decision I am busy at work and do cannot teamviewer...I can tonight..would love to see you manipulate that image...i stand by my statement, you cannot get color from a white image..its simply impossible..
21. Your choice Now How would u like me to prove it ? 1.you log to my comp with Team viewer 2.I will sent to you original Avigilon clip (.ave format u will have to use Avigilon player ) pick and choose Boogieman Prove it by manipulating the image on your pc step by step and show me... And i want to see the original video to ensure that the original was washed out and that you did not purposely was out a clear image...there is no way to add those dark pixels from a washed out image like that...
22. If I prove u wrong Would you publicly apologize ? Yes i will..but im not an idiot...i can see that they are two distinct photographs...go ahead and prove me wrong..there is no way that image would be that clear even in daylight zoomed in like that...
23. He is you ak357 ....come on we are not THAT stupid...
24. u welcome by the way here is plate extracted from pix I would love to know how you did that. It's very impressive. Have you ever used that sort of enhancement as evidence? For everyone asking how to enhance the plates this is what can be done when you dedicate a camera to the role of Number Plate Capture. No Enhancement required Buellwinkel (RIP) was doing it with a sub US$100 Hikvision bullet. It doesn't have to be expensive. Following my experiments, and what I've seen others do, Ive reached the conclusion that less that $US300 is a very realistic budget for Number plate capture setup that captures video that can be used as evidence. He didnt do anything...the two photos were taken from different cameras at different angles, exposure setting etc...there was no "enhancement"
25. Videoinsight has much more functionality than ivms...doesnt seem like you need it though... For the record you can easily change the layout in Video insight...there is a video here http://www.video-insight.com/support/videos.php#prettyPhoto
