    200 dollar class PTZ cameras

It is not a hikvision its claimed to be a "HIKVISION Machine Core" if that is even true, and who knows what that means..

    Which system would you pick?

those are crap...the op laid out options that are all ip AND 3mp. I doubt the op is interesting in 960 analog systems.. there is no reason to install analog 960h systems in 2015..if someone wants to go cheap they can get 720p dahua cameras they will have double the resolution of the 960h systems...will be easier to install and they can use poe...

    Another Poor Image Quality Thread

Dont know whats wrong there but those are not ip cameras.... If you want good quality either get 1080p ip cameras or if you want to use your coax, then use something like CVI (by dahua) which is HD over analog.
  5. Those couplers are notoriously bad...also anytime you do that you introduce signal attenuation and lower the maximum distance signal can travel along those cables. You might want to try a more rugged one like this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/888361-REG/Neutrik_ne8ff_ADAPTER_EHTERCON_CAT5.html
  6. The cable is most likely ok...check your connections...recrimp the plugs...also, make sure you are not setting both cameras to the same ip address..that will cause a conflict and one wont work.

What is the IP address on this _ _ _ thing???

You are incorrect, if you have the manufacturers disc and it contains software to locate the camera, it generally can find cameras on other subnets...just like hikvisions SADP does...you can just hook the camera to the network and run a search with no other mods.
  8. Dropcam should never be considered, ever...they charge 300 per year for the first cam then 150 for each additional camera in perpetuity for 30 days of storage..and you cannot live monitor without gobbing op bandwidth... The hikvision and dahua mobile apps work well. With the budget you have you can run milestone or exacq on a small pc as well...

What is the IP address on this _ _ _ thing???

You can try the popular subnets beginning with the defualt I posted above...you will need to connect your camera to your pc and change ipv4 or change your router settings...then run a scan. or, see if the manufactuer has a tool to search for it, most do

What is the IP address on this _ _ _ thing???

Well then you wont be able to use the camera anyway...unless you can figure out how to reset it..

What is the IP address on this _ _ _ thing???

I had assumed you were already using the camera and changed the ip to match your subnet... The default should be 192.168.1.10 So you either need to change your router or connect the camera directly to your pc, temporarily change your pc network adapters ipv4 setting to 192.168.1.1 and you will be able to hit the camera to change the ip address.

What is the IP address on this _ _ _ thing???

Check your router and see the devices connected. Or http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-IP-Scanner/3000-18508_4-10115592.html Or Download fing on your cell phone..connect cell to your network it will scan the network for all devices.
  13. Consider a dahua tribrid NVR they can run analog, hd-cvi (analog over coax) and ip cameras on the same NVR. http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/hcvr740474087416l-657.html http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/hcvr780478087816s-658.html
  14. probably junk...and if you are using ivms as your nvr it wont work..

    Infrared illuminator to thwart creep?

IR wont help you during the day...
  16. +1 also Does Avigilon really want to deal with CCTV Forum type customers Obviously not ( nothing personal ) Thats the thing.."forum types" dont want to deal with avigilon either...we are content with 90 dollar cams...for the time being at least..they work great and have a very low failure rate....even the "high end" cameras fail. They dont want to pay 500-1000 per camera or a licensing fee..there is a market for everyone...most of the hikvision issues on the forum of newbies who dont properly update firmware or writing direct to nas...otherwise they run great...hook these puppies up to an pc nvr running blue iris and you have a great system on the cheap...that's what most "forum types" are looking for..value...there is no value for the average home/small business user in a 500 dollar axis camera unless they are totally inept and need hand holding...
  17. No, its not just for ptz cameras....click on the magnifying glass and then click in the screen..
  18. There is a magnifying glass on the web interface...the bottom right..not sure about ivms
  19. What are you using to view the camera?
  20. Go to where it says edge and select 9 or 10 for ie 9 or 10...
  21. hit f12 run in emulation mode...

  24. Makes me wonder how these cameras will work this summer. If the IR lamp is going to attract bugs like an incandescent bulb the camera will be recording most of the night Its generally not that bad..but yes..you need to account for this with your settings...or as others have suggested external ir...
  25. So you want lots of features and smooth playback but only want to spend 50??? No...
