  1. +1, the image that was uploaded is not even 1mp...look at the properties... Regardless, its foolish to jump on these off beat camera brands when as you point out you can get a dahua or hikvision for the same money...

Problem with web access on my KPD674

use emulation..hit F12 on the "edge" dropdown select 9...
  3. Dont waste time on it, not worth the hassle, just use coax seal http://www.amazon.com/Parts-Express-Moisture-Proof-Sealing/dp/B00075J4J6/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1422660615&sr=1-3&keywords=coax+seal

Need help selecting a proper poe setup

You will not saturate your lan with 16 cameras...not need for separate network unless you want to specifically create a vlan for security purposes...you can buy pre packaged ip systems from costco that will suit your needs..or you can buy hikvision or dahua that will fit your budget..either US sellers or direct from china via aliexpress (Cheaper but no warranty)... Some NVR's have poe built in (usually noisy) others do not..if not you can buy a few of these http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-SF1008P-100Mbps-8-Port-802-3af/dp/B003CFATT2/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1422659194&sr=1-1&keywords=poe+switch&pebp=1422659005659&peasin=B003CFATT2 http://www.amazon.com/ZyXEL-8-Port-Unmanaged-Switch-GS1100-8HP-240W/dp/B00BPYOSOE/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1422659038&sr=1-4&keywords=poe+switch+zyxel the benefit of multiple switches is that you dont need to homerun each camera to the NVR.... These switches are very reliable and you should not have any issues.
  5. This is an old thread...there are lots of great prepackaged systems at costco... http://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-4-1080p-Cameras.product.100153138.html

help with camera to protect car

There are lots of cams that have sd card slots...hikvision-2532, 2632, 2732, 2132IWS (iws version only) and their newer bullets like DS-2CD2T32 Dahua has several as well.. You dont need to go outside to recover the SD card..you can log into the camera directly.... Those mini NVR's are full of issues...match the NVR to camera brand...or run pc based NVR software.

    32 IP Camera System

This can be done...but you need to buy from ali http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-130Mp-CMOS-HD-Network-camera-dahua-IR-Bullet-Camera-HFW2100-Support-POE-Auto-iris/1772066999.html Its about 2200 for the cams...and you can probably get that down to 2000 because they would give you a bulk discount... Buy a refurbished dell optiplex minitower i7-haswell (4770, 4790) for 500-600....blue iris for 60 and you are done..you have some change left over for monitor, cables and supplies...
  8. Ha, that will never happen...no court will ever order access to another persons cameras..

Looking for ideas on a new CCTV system

Costco has some great systems . You just have to differentiate between the junk and the good stuff..They dont usually have the good ip systems at the store, you need to order online. The swann systems are hikvision rebrands and pretty solid. There is a lot more value in costco than amazon..with costco you can literally return the system at anytime...five years later...try returning to amazon after a couple of months.... The Avertx is not a bad system particularly because it has the motorized varifocal and SD card slots you are looking for. You will be able to build your own system for less, but it wont be plug and play...your return/warranty if any will be limited...its all a matter of what you want to hassle with. If you like the specs it cannot hurt...give it a shot, worst case pack it up and return it.

    Newbie 's question

Just get the entire kit from costco http://www.costco.ca/Swann%E2%84%A2-8-channel-HD-NVR-with-2TB-HDD-and-4-HD-1080p-Camera-Kits.product.100131877.html

need help to compare two quotes

Do not even contemplate wireless...end of story..it must be wired... If you want to self install, pay someone to run quality ethernet cable and terminate
  12. Boogieman

    Port Forwarding??

The NVR sets up its own "mini network"..there a are several was off connecting directly to the camera but you will need to connect your pc to one of the NVR ports...there are several threads on the forum discussing this with respect to hikvision NVR's
  13. Yes you can use it interchangeably...Yes there is something special about those cable..we are saying that in a new home you should not be installing coax/bnc/rg59/rg6 cable for cameras (you still may need it for cable tv)...you want ethernet because IP cameras and NVR require Ethernet connections...DO NOT let him convince you that you dont need ethernet run...you want an ip system.. You will need an ip camera sysem not analog or hd over coax like cvi... http://www.costco.com/Swann-16-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-3TB-HDD-and-8-3MP-HD-IP-Cameras.product.100144938.html

    good idea?

These are all manual adjustment camera...motorized ptz cameras are WAY more expensive.
  15. Boogieman

    good idea?

yes its also available on amazon for about 20 bux...it might be ok for a business but i feel its too bulky for a home, but that is your call.
  16. Boogieman

    good idea?

No...its a different design...also note that the domes cannot be wall mounted (without a special mount) because the lens is only two axis...if you plan on wall mounting it get the turret...
  17. Boogieman

    good idea?

The nightvision/low light will actually be much better on the 1mp camera than the 3mp camera...The only issue with the dome is it can reflect ir if improperly mounted causing a foggy image..they make the turret in a 1.3mp version 2312... Are you not planing on recording the camera?
  18. Whats your budget? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_yNqbSBL14 http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/Products_show.asp?id=9811 http://www.scallopimaging.com/
  19. Now you are just pulling our legs.....impossible...

    dropcam

No, its ideal for suckers who want to pay $300 dollars a year for 30 days of storage, have no live feed, and send all their video to the cloud with a mediocre camera. It is perfect only for the extremely technically challenged with money to burn in perpetuity.
  21. Listen to the above posts...whatever you do, run high quality CAT6 cable....the if the builder will not let you do it yourself have a contractor do it...DO NOT let them run bnc its a total waste of your money...you dont need them to install cameras at this time just run the cable...I would by the cable myself from monoprice so i know they are using good stuff. http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10234&cs_id=1023401&p_id=8103&seq=1&format=2 Do net let them sell you an analog system.
  22. Boogieman

    Installation / Dealers etc...

That is a very good price but understand that its for SDI - HD analog..this is not an ip system...it will still be good quality but might pose upgrade problems/limitations in the future...
  23. Boogieman

    Installation / Dealers etc...

First, newegg is not selling anything...there are third party sellers from china selling VIA newegg...its the same stuff being sold on ali express or ebay....if you go that route get buy from a reputable ali express seller or newegg/ebay whatever is cheaper. You have misinformation about LTS...they mostly sell rebranded hikvision-the cameras will be the same as any hikvision you buy. They provide 3 year warranties and have excellent customer service...they ship from NJ and i think California (not sure) but I get my orders next day...Forum member milkisbad is an LTS rep...
  24. Boogieman

    Installation / Dealers etc...

They are not selling knockoff equipment...most of the time its just not meant for the US region market...When you buy hikvision China region cams they are still made by hikvision...For all you know the installer is getting the cheaper cams as well...
  25. No, as stated before...what you are suggesting is simply impossible...it cannot be done...there is NO way they are controlling your DVR if its disconnected from the network...You will not find any answers other than your device is defective, improperly setup or you are hallucinating the entire scenario....
