DS-2CD2632F-I(S)
Boogieman replied to empedokles's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
no router does poe. The injector is fine, but if you plan on getting more than one camera you are better off with a poe switch.http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-SF1008P-100Mbps-8-Port-802-3af/dp/B003CFATT2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1388523933&sr=8-2&keywords=poe+switch most of the 8 port model can power 4 cameras. (only 4 ports are poe). -
DS-2CD2632F-I(S)
Boogieman replied to empedokles's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
How are you powering the camera? For the easiest and cleanest install you need a poe switch. PLug the switch into your router and the camera into the switch. As far as the cables, you have two options. if you made a hole in the wall and have room push the wires back in there. OR just an external junction box and mount the camera to it. You can always wrap the wires in coax tape for extra protection http://www.amazon.com/protects-types-cable-moisture-corrosion/dp/B0002ZPINC/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1388501531&sr=1-1&keywords=coax+seal -
IP camera purchase help?
Boogieman replied to 213chrisp's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Do not buy foscam...its crap. Just buy a Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I for about 175 and you are done. If you need a particular angle of view/zoom you may be better off getting the varifocal version which is about 100 more. Also what model Panasonic were you looking at, the camera itself would not limit poe to 100 feet. -
Looking for a simple, inexpensive outdoor camera for home
Boogieman replied to GregL's topic in Security Cameras
It does, just make sure you use a Class 10 card! that hik does not have a card, you need to move to the more expensive varifocal version for a card slot. Hikvision DS-2CD2732F-I Dome or Hikvision DS-2CD2632F-I have sd card slots or acti d72 and are about 270. If op is not using an NVR it cant hurt to have recording - good protection if someone steals your packages etc. but the cheaper hik will do if all op wants is a live stream. -

He's a moron. Have her go file a police report, get his insurance info and contact them directly, that will get him moving. -
IP Camera with PTZ/IR Cut/ Clear Night View
Boogieman replied to dave3's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You don't need ptz to watch your car. Get a camera with a wide field of view and it should cover the entire driveway. Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I with 4mm or Hikvision DS-2CD2732F-I that is varifocal and can be set to a wider 2.8mm, plus you get sd card recording with the 2CD2732F. -
press F12, under emulation change document mode to 7,8 or 9....

Connections for my cameras in one place
Boogieman replied to dbritt68's topic in General Digital Discussion
You can only do this with an IP system using a switch. If you already have the wires running why do you need this? -

How is the fan noise on this unit, looking for something like this that runs quiet. Edit : Just saw this review funny, con came from my review.... it is loud and the person sitting in the room could not tolerate it.....I just don't get why no one makes a switch that is sized like a pc power supply with a large fan and quiet... -
Yes the ip address must be your external address 192.168.0.15 will not work outside your network. You need to use the external address and add the :XXXX with the port number. Also, many isp will not let you use port 80 so you need to change the port on the dvr to something else....try 8686

what have you done in your router to port forward? Which ports have you forwarded? What are you typing in to the browser to remote view?

don't get that system, its analog and will not give you the clarity you want. You should be looking at an IP system that is at least 1080p...you need to provide a budget....
