Hikvision DS-7608NI-SEP compatability with 4MP camera...
drcarric2650 posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
I have a Hikvision DS-7608NI-SEP firmware 2.3.11_150625. I purchased and new Hikvision DS-2CD2142FWD-IS camera firmware V5.3.3 build 150630. I'm only able to get the NVR to recognize the camera, if it is set to a lower resolution of 1920x1080P, and will not access it if it is set to 2688x1520. The firmware for the camera is V5.3.3 build 150630. Is the older NVR not compatible with the newer cameras higher resolution, or am I doing something wrong? If resolution is too high for the older NVR, why can't I set the newer camera to reselution of my current 3MP cameras, with the web configuration, the drop down resolutions only contains three resolutions for the main stream, 1280x720, 1920x1080P and the 2688x1520 Thanks, Don Carrico -

Yeah, it must be bricked... time to learn about tftp. I think I will go with Blue Iris, until I figure out how to use tftp. Don -

Hmmm, I may be panicking, but my box may be bricked now. I upgraded the firmware, it re-booted, I got two beeps, and about a minute later the nvr screen, then the screen went back, and nothing since? It's been about 10 minutes, without any activity. Don -

Thanks, I thought I got the latest one from the hikvision site, but I will give this one a go. Don -
I have the DS-7608NI-SEP, I would suggest getting the newer model, 7608NI-E2/8P it has a little higher bandwidth, and you can use the newer firmware. I'm currently stuck with the older firmware, 2.3.11_150625. I was between houses so it's been a year since I set it up, I'm setting it up now with the curret 3 MP camera and added 5 new 4Mp camera's and I'm not exactly sure if the band width and older firmware will handle it all. I'll keep posting here as I progress, and let you know how this NVR works out... If it doesn't I will most likely upgrade to the 7616NI-E2/8P 16 since it is only $70 more and has a 100 Mbps... A bit future proofing doesn't hurt. Don

Cannot access Hik Vision Camera to set WDR
drcarric2650 replied to Z2TT's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have a solution that worked for me, when I was getting the "no enough flash" failure when attempting to upgrade the firmware of my NVR DS-7608NI-SEP. I ended up having to use the nvr to format the flash, I then reloaded the firmware V2.3.11_150625 to the flash drive. This time the update worked without error. I have a question though. I bought new 4Mb camera to go with my older 3 Mb cameras... What is the best way to get all my camera's working together, for instance my older camera's have the standard password 12345 , my new camera's force me the change the password. Will I have to update my old camera's firmware to change those passwords to match my new camera passwords? Thanks, Don
