Got Motion to work with Hikvisions H264-Stream
empedokles posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
At least in 1080x720 pixels. If anyone intends to do the same. I collected the information one developper gave me into an Ubuntu step-guide: http://askubuntu.com/questions/514828/how-can-i-access-the-h264-stream-from-my-ip-cam-with-motion/517081#517081 -

What is the difference between GS108PE-300EUS GS108PE-100EUS GS108P-100EUS ? Is there a cheaper solution for 3 PoE-ports?

While my sister can access the admin, she can't see the stream. It shows a green blank. -

Where inside HIkvision would you change this ports? This are the standardports they use. -

Hi Buellwinkle. The thing was that I always got my router admin interface while trying to connect and not the camera. But I've been told now that this is usual if you are on the same DNS for most routers and only persons that aren't on my DNS can connect to the cam. I did set port-forward of 80 and 554 on my router now (haven't found that port mapping on the this centro grande router from my provider). And I've set up an account on hikvision and then added the camera with the ddns number my camera gave me. Probably better if I can keep it on the level of my camera. My sister gets the Hikvision admin interface. I'm not sure how to set it public though. -

Are there any dummy plugs to prevent that dust settles on my switch which is mounted upside down? -

Do you think I can mount the zyxel on the wall, but with the ports to the right hand side? --------------------- | | | | | | | | | | Ports | | | | | | | | --------------------- Edit: Solved. -

The problem is I can't connect to my camera in Step 5. Is there a good free dynamic dns site (DynDNS isn't)? Hikvision has its own: http://www.hik-online.com -

Hi I could port-forward 554 and 80 and successfully see them over http://www.canyouseeme.org. I don't can connect over the browser to http://myip:554/ and I don't see anything like external ports in my router manager though. Are you sure every router has external ports? -

I followed your advice and ordered the Zyxel. I film crows, they are fast. -

I might guess the framerates of the Hikvision (certainly not 25 frames as advertised) could increase. No? -

Yes, I meant a gigabyte switch, that manages the load of cat6 cables. Is there one without a brick? And may I disable web-management of the more expensive device somewhere? -
How to go through the wall/window?
empedokles posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The cables one can buy are 25 - 30m, but the connector is a bit big. (I intend to drill a hole trough the window framing). How to isolate? Would it be better to go for this: http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CAT-5-Wiring-Diagram-s/293.htm ? On the other hand the process looks not very newbee-friendly. -

Well, I finally went with the ordinary cable, as the sellers don't categorize their stuff very good here. Now I have to isolate the hole somehow. -

If there is no brick on these, it comes down to this two guys: http://www.zyxel.ch/de/products/zyxel-gs1100-8hp/ and http://www.zyxel.ch/de/products/zyxel-gs1900-8hp/ (I'm a bit afraid of the term web-managed here.) Edit: It also seems to have a brick: http://www.ricardo.ch/kaufen/computer-und-netzwerk/hubs-und-switches/ethernet/switches/zyxel-8-port-switch-mit-poe-gs1900-8hp/v/an732820974/ -

What about the Gigabit version of the Zyxel? TP-Link probably is only government-grade. -

Getting the Hikvsion H.264 Stream with motion
empedokles posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Has anyone had any luck getting the Hikvision H.264 mainstream with "motion" (LInux command line App)? I tried the commercial Xeoma App, but it only gets me a frameskipped version of the stream. Good enough for government work, but not for anything else. http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome http://www.maketecheasier.com/setup-motion-detection-webcam-ubuntu/ Manual: http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/jaunty/man1/motion.1.html -

How might I access the MJPEG Stream?
empedokles posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hello Unfortunately if I wan't to get the mjpeg stream it asks me for a admin/password, but if I enter it, nothing happens. I get the Quicktime and VLC Streams without that questions. How could I access the MJPEG Stream? Cheers -
