The Hikvision model is DS-2CD2032-I and it is powered with PoE over my Motorola Internet-Router (I could see IR-Leds on after I connected the cable, they went off after some time). I installed arp-scan and below is what I can find in the terminal. Tatung Company is my digital TV-box and not the IP-cam. nuc@nuc:~$ sudo arp-scan --localnet Interface: eth0, datalink type: EN10MB (Ethernet) Starting arp-scan 1.8.1 with 256 hosts (http://www.nta-monitor.com/tools/arp-scan/) 192.168.1.1 00:22:10:82:61:40 Motorola Mobility, Inc. 192.168.1.33 00:80:3f:3a:d6:79 TATUNG COMPANY 192.168.1.38 84:a6:c8:c3:2b:e3 (Unknown) 3 packets received by filter, 0 packets dropped by kernel Ending arp-scan 1.8.1: 256 hosts scanned in 1.467 seconds (174.51 hosts/sec). 3 responded nuc@nuc:~$ -

The new router they sent me works. Perfect. But now I run out of ethernet-ports. Between: The first time I accessed the camera it only has shown a Chinese or Japanese Login, when I reconneted the camera it showed the menu with all Languages. What could cause this? -

I'm unfortunately not from the US. This one would be convenient: But It probably is not possible to power these sockets with two injectors? -
Under the menu entry "Playing" I receive an error: No plugin detected. (I'm using Linux). But there is no link where to download it or any other information. This is mainly important for me, as I intend t do motion triggering and recording. How to install it?

There is one, but I don't know if it's solid. They only write Aluminium-Copper-Mixture. http://www.ohc24.ch/de/products/1392416-cpv0033-logilink-patchkabel-kat-6-uutp-100-m?price-min=15&price-max=50&q=LogiLink+Patchkabel&man=[LogiLink]&cat=[Netzwerkkabel] Plugs are much harder to find for these Cat 6 though. -

I didn't even try zoneminder, as the comments were so bad about it. I've found Xeoma though, which seems pretty neat and node-based. I'm not sure how long the free version is usable though: Ypn6G8rrSGQ -

What does AWG 26/7 and AWG 24/1 mean? The Foliage one (F/UTP) is not much more expensive. http://www.ohc24.ch/products/1392392 -

They send me a newer router. What I could do in the meantime is try to add a port service in the current router. But which settings do I have to use? Here is an example of the options of such a custom service (they are often used for games): -

It must indeed be the router:[/b] I tried the old Netopia Router now with two ethernet connections: One to the NUC and one to the IP-Cam (over the PoE-Injector). The Router Range ist 192.168.1.33 to 63 and the routers IP 192.168.1.1. The Webcam is set to 192.168.1.199. Now I can reach it without any problems! The difference is that I have no DSL on this router though. -

LOL, now that would be a bit heavy. If I just need the cable and sockets it should be possible to do for me. Or will this need a tool? But this cat5e cables come in quite a variety. Which one shall I get? My last one with connectors was "PATCH CABLE SF-UTP CAT5E 30.0M" but is 5-6 meters too short. Unshielded? SF-UTP, U/UTP, U/UTP Solid, F/UTP - What the heck? http://www.ohc24.ch/products/1392394 http://www.ohc24.ch/products/1392404 http://www.ohc24.ch/products/1392392 http://www.ohc24.ch/products/1633339 -

I guess there is an old one in the basement. But I'm not sure if it's still working with current ADSL standards and if there is a power adaptor. Also: I certainly don't have a password for the admin interface. -

Yes, but this applies as well for the other Hikvision I've got. So either this cams are really low quality or there's something up with my router. I've set my router back to 192.168.1.1 with the original DHCP-Range of 192.168.1.33 - 192.168.1.64 now. Reset the camera on factory defaults. Give a virtual ethernet of 192.0.0.128. Don't get the cam with Interface: eth0, datalink type: EN10MB (Ethernet) Starting arp-scan 1.8.1 with 256 hosts (http://www.nta-monitor.com/tools/arp-scan/) 192.168.1.1 00:22:10:82:61:40 Motorola Mobility, Inc. 192.168.1.34 00:80:3f:3a:d6:79 TATUNG COMPANY 2 packets received by filter, 0 packets dropped by kernel Ending arp-scan 1.8.1: 256 hosts scanned in 1.490 seconds (171.81 hosts/sec). 2 responded But can ping it on 192.0.0.64. Get Liveview (on Ubuntu Quicktime and VLC works - didn't get MPEG though: It demands an autentification, obvisiously admin / 12345 won't work). Also: I get consistent open ports with nmap with above settings: Starting Nmap 6.40 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2014-08-14 08:30 CEST Nmap scan report for 192.0.0.64 Host is up (0.00087s latency). I'm from the other side of the globe unfortunately. There is one with 12V - 15W. But from above it doesn't seem the problem. Maybe I should leave it like that? Also in the DHCP page of my router there is a button which alows assignment of other IPs subnets. Maybe I could try to store IP 192.0.0.64 there. The second header of the hikvision software (translates to "playing" or something in English) unfortunately says: No plug in detected. Some way to get it on Linux? As this would give me motion triggering/recording. -

What I maybe could try is setting the IP of the cam below the DHCP range but above the routers IP. Say 192.168.1.5. -

? - I did assign it 192.0.0.65 before. But now it's IP is 192.168.1.100 and I can't access it anymore. It's switching on and of an nmap strangely produces alternating results. What can I do about that? We tried this as well a few pages back. It didn't work out then. Plus, it won't help me, as I need Internet and this router is from my Internetprovider. -

I used the access to set the Cam to IP 192.168.1.100 and then the router to IP 192.168.1.1 and its DHCP-range from 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.64 again. I keep getting changing nmap callbacks and hear the infrared lights of the cam switching on and off (it's night here): nuc@nuc:~$ nmap 192.168.1.100 Starting Nmap 6.40 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2014-08-14 00:01 CEST Nmap scan report for 192.168.1.100 Host is up (0.0012s latency). I successfully could change the IP of my cam to 192.0.0.65 now and access it over this very same IP. (Maybe my internet provider changed something in the meantime, is this possible? - Cause I also made quite a bit upheal in their forum and couldn't why it now works otherwise. I didn't do anything..) -

I don't understand. But strangely enough I now can access my cam under 192.0.0.64. My router settings are IP 192.0.0.1 still. With a DHCP range from 192.0.0.101 to .199. Not really. There is one in my drawer, but I guess I don't have its 5V-power-adapter anymore. The NUC is my PC. That's what we had at the start, but I didn't try nmap then. I remember that I couldn't access the cam over the browser. What doesn't work is the second page used for recording (no plugin detected?): -

empedokles replied to empedokles's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
My Motorola-Router has 4 ethernet-ports. The NUC is occuyping the first one. The IP-Cam conntects over a cat 5 ethernet-cable to a TP-Link PoE injector (no switch) and the injector to the second port of the router. Then there is a free port. And in the last port is occupied by the TV-Box. Maybe the DHCP of the router is causing it? When we gave a virtual IP under the original DCHP 192.168.33 to .something-range it at least worked with the factory 192.0.0.64 IP. Hence it can't be the injector. Funilly enough now it says: nuc@nuc:~$ nmap 192.0.0.64 Starting Nmap 6.40 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2014-08-13 18:44 CEST Nmap scan report for 192.0.0.64 Host is up (0.0012s latency). No, the router's IP is still 192.0.0.1 now. With a DHCP range from 192.0.0.101 to .199. Here an overview: NUC (PC) on .102 TV-Box on .101 Cam on .64 -
