Analog video samples????????? anyone????????
IdahoMan replied to Toaster's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Rory, Can you please provide more detail on this picture? Given the equipment, this license plate capture seems really good to me! I am presently really struggling with license capture at night using my analog cameras. Thanks! Bump. Want to know too. -
What's the word to date on ultra-low light/lux camera components? CCD? CMOS? 1/3"? 2/3"? 1"? Chipset? Lenses? Brand(Sony, etc.)? I like to get the raw components (ex: board-cams, lenses, DVR PCBs, LEDs) and experiment myself with placement, etc.. Particularly covert, very low-light, low-noise, etc.. Problem when it comes to finding good CCTV cameras is that the given specs and prices are often all over the board. Best way I can think of judging a camera prior to working with it hands on is to look online for reviews and forum postings of picture comparisons. Wasn't there a Thread here dedicated to that once? Thanks. Sincerely, IdahoMan

HERE Just want a simple, reliabe, small and cheap 4ch DVR for use with various CCTV cameras. Don't need a ton of fancy features (besides motion-detection). Just record to the HDD for later retrieval. The one above is $100. Any one ever heard of it/used it? Any reason to avoid it/is it ok? Thanks you. Sincerely, IM

What is used for mobile cctv? Like for back-up cameras or motor-home security where vibration would be an issue? If RG59 is solid copper it could break.

Hikvision DS-2CD2412F-IW...setup problem
IdahoMan replied to Hikup's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Ok. BI automatically entered the PW for my camera type. I re-entered the PW in the BI camera settings for no reason, and it worked. I get footage in BI now, but it's a slide-show at about 1 frame every 5 seconds. CPU: 100%. Thanks. -

I have the cam connected via my router now and it seems to pinging fine. But the "Live View" in FireFox is still black. I really didn't want to get an IP camera. Getting computers, let alone networking, involved in a surveillance system is just terrible. But I can't find the DVR I want unless I find an electrical engineering firm to design one for me, and I want the novelty of remote viewing.. so here I am. -
Can see cam in SADP, but can't ping...
IdahoMan replied to theTastyCat's topic in Computers/Networking
Ok: My cable-modem is plugged into my router, my Computer and the IP Cam are plugged into my router. I repeated the steps above. Pinged the cam: Went into FireFox and typed in the IP address. And "Live View" is still blank. Here's a screenshot: -

dcam, I have done just that. Managed to have my browser go from not finding anything, to finding the cam's address and bringing up the hikvison page. But there is nothing on the "live view" tab, and the LAN icon in the lower-right windows taskbar has a yellow "limited or no connection" error. Pinging the cam's IP address with cmd has been giving me mostly "timed out". It gave me replys last time I pinged but I still get no video feed and the icon is still yellow. I have the cam connected directly into the back of my computer for testing. I haven't even begun to try running it through the router while my computer is connected to the internet yet. (I'm sure that'll be loads of fun) Help? -

IdahoMan replied to theTastyCat's topic in Computers/Networking
Ok, I just got my Hik bullet 2032. I'm doing just what you are doing... Plug my cam directly into the back of my computer and.. 1. cmd 2. ipconfig 3. SADP the camera to correct IP address 4. ping camera's IP address After a few moments it gives me four "request timed out" errors. Also the little network icon in lower-right taskbar has a yellow "little or no connectivity". Tried pinging the cam's IP address again and now I get four replys, but still nothing in my browser when I try to "live view" it. And the lower-right icon is still yellow. Advise? -
Anyone use this? http://www.caymanwireless.com/accessories/1650-platinum-tools-tl5-4607.html Or similar tool(s)? For that matter, what tools do you use/recommend for CCTV/Com/Tele work? Crimp.. Strip.. Ect.. Sincerely, IdahoMan

Thanks. Found a helpful site here: http://www.pacificcabling.com/Information/Information_other/CCTV_cable_choice.htm The RG6 would be nicer than the RG59 (as long as the center was solid copper and the braid 95% copper), as it is a larger wire-size and impedance closer to 75%. But I want siamese (I know I won't find audio) and there is no siamese RG6. centralalarms, That link you gave me would really work well for some temp setups around the house (like the bird box). I went to order it and then it slapped a $23.00 S&H charge as I was imputing my order, so for-get them!

Looking for a new test monitor
IdahoMan replied to jordanb's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Alright, on the little orange/blue 3.5" testers I read the PDF manual. It specifically says not to leave it plugged in for charging, which is stupid. And I see absolutely no mention of a recording ability. So I certainly won't be getting any of those. There is a 7" blue horizontal-style tester out there that has recording, but is very expensive for what is still a China toy($300+). Numbnuts had one in another thread. How's it work for you? IM -
Looking for a new test monitor
IdahoMan replied to jordanb's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I'd like to bump my above question once more; I believe I am ready to order. These models DO have a recording feature right? Didn't see anything in the description. Kinda useless without the ability to record A/V for later viewing. Big thanks again. IM -
MP IP cams and IR illuminators. Post your real world results
IdahoMan replied to SyconsciousAu's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
BW, The camera you speak of ("Hikvision 2032 mini bullet"), can it be connected through my router and to my computer via a Cat6 cable? Can I get some free/open-source software to record events? I assume there is no registration/account/internet-connection required to get permission to use/run the camera? (If there is, I'll walk away right now) I understand I can also find software that lets me view the camera from online (like from a cell phone)? I'd like to get a cheap little camera to watch my driveway. I notice there is a 2032 camrea on Amazon: Here for $93. It's a 4mm lens I think, but can I put another lens (like 1 12mm) on it (is it a "CS" lens)? Thank you. Sincerely, IM -

Well, I'm considering the ST896 3.5", if it has the ability to record Audio and Video for later viewing of course. And If I can find it for under $150. All these Chicom orange/blue TMs look the same. Are they all from the same manufacturing plant or what? -
Looking for a new test monitor
IdahoMan replied to jordanb's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Bump. What's new? Seems all these test monitors are China, so I would not be willing to spend over around $150. Even that is steep, they are likely to break I'd imagine. Those of you have different models (Ex: The "orange" or the "blue"), how are they doing and how have they failed for you so far? I bought the cheap little wrist monitor off Amazon and it's doing what I expected it to, but it does not have a recording capability. All other nice bells and whistles of the models mentioned above sure would be nice of course, except for the multimeter. -
Bump.

So, ANYBODY?? Are there any good SD/TF mobile DVRs out there? -
Thank you for the reply. BTW, I don't think I have seen a micro/board pinhole camera in HD analog.
