Please Help Me Select a Low-Light, Pinhole Cam..
IdahoMan replied to IdahoMan's topic in Security Cameras
I am looking at trying these: I. 700 TVL Color Cone Pinhole Lens Board Camera ($119) http://www.supercircuits.com/security-cameras/board-cameras/700-tvl-cone-pinhole-lens-board-camera-pc602uxp II. Mini Camera Effio-P DSP 960H Super WDR DNR Pinhole Lens 30mm x 30mm ($89) http://www.camera2000.com/en/mini-camera-effio-p-dsp-960h-super-wdr-dnr-pinhole-lens-30mm-x-30mm.html Any comments on the claimed specs, or any other advice before I proceed? Anything I am not seeing? Is there a difference between the two? -
Hello. Can anybody please help me select a good low-light, pinhole camera? I've been searching for a while but am still swamped. I need a camera that can be hid in light-fixtures, door-panels, window trim, small fence posts/stakes, behind tree bark, artificial flowers/rocks, etc.. It has to be good in very dark areas too. Here's a example of cams I'm looking at: http://www.supercircuits.com/security-cameras/board-cameras/700-tvl-cone-pinhole-lens-board-camera-pc602uxp http://www.supercircuits.com/ultra-high-res-day-night-board-camera-pc600uxp http://www.supercircuits.com/security-cameras/micro-video-cameras/600-tvl-0-0003-lux-micro-video-pinhole-camera-pc182xp2 http://www.supercircuits.com/security-cameras/specialty-security-cameras/hi-res-low-light-mini-b-w-snake-camera-pc224xp http://www.supercircuits.com/security-cameras/specialty-security-cameras/hi-res-ultra-low-light-b-w-snake-camera-pc229hrxp http://www.supercircuits.com/security-cameras/micro-video-cameras/ultra-small-color-cmos-micro-video-camera-pc210 http://www.amazon.com/ePathChina%C2%AE-Smallest-Pinhole-Support-Standard/dp/B00IEXTOMA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top* http://www.amazon.com/HS1149-650TVL-0-001-Starlight-Camera/dp/B00MR5QWIA/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1409787000&sr=8-2-fkmr2&keywords=.0001+lux+micro+camera http://www.securitycamera2000.com/products/Sense%252dup-x512-650TVL-Starlight-Mini-Pinhole-Bullet-Camera-0.001Lux.html?=bqcx *I bought and tried this one. It was a cheap little thing to experiment with. Not good for any low-light/dark situation. But notice different prices? And the different spec. claims(such as lux)? Don't know who/what to trust. Anyone want to throw in their experience/advice here? I'd really appreciate it.

I have this little Test Monitor I bought:http://www.amazon.com/Lerway-Security-Tester-Camera-Monitor/dp/B00K4PTNN6/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1409866661&sr=8-15&keywords=3.5+test+monitor It's power output for powering CCTV cams is 12V, .5A. Am I right to assume that we are dealing with "plug and play" here? I mean, shouldn't I be able to plug this camera into the test monitor without issue.. that's what it's for right? I have tried it, and it works. The camera footage has a red hue when used. Funny thing is I think I remember seeing the same effect on a old trail camera I had after I tried using an adapter with it and it broke. I don't believe I am overpowering this camera(?); probably my imagination.

A am looking at a camera that is being sold by a website for $84*. There is what appears to be the same camera (although the Title is obviously ridiculous and specs skewed) listed on Amazon for $12**. http://www.spyemporium.com/micro-pinhole-spycams/600tvl-extemely-tiny-pinhole-camera/ http://www.amazon.com/ePathChina%C2%AE-Smallest-Pinhole-Support-Standard/dp/B00IEXTOMA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top What do you think? And while on the topic of pricing and manufacture origin, I see a lot a similar cameras (Ex: 600 TVL Day/Night Micro Camera with Cone Pinhole Lens) on many different websites, and they often have wildly varying prices and specs. Where do websites/companies get these cameras from, or who manufactures therm? Is there a trusted website/company that is accurate in their pricing/specs? Sincerely, IdahoMan

Well, I received the camera today. The manual says the Power specfications(spl) is 5.5-12V, 80mA +- 10mA. Other cameras of this type, and the Amazon page for this one itself, say the camera is 1000mA. I'm anxious to plug this thing into my TV's RCA ports and give it a try, but the best adapter I have is a Linksys 12V, .5A(500mA). Any comments before I give this a try?

Looking for a new test monitor
IdahoMan replied to jordanb's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Anybody used this... http://www.amazon.com/Lerway-Monitor-Security-Camera-Tester/dp/B00EZM54R8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408646632&sr=8-1&keywords=Lerway+test+monitor And can anyone help me understand what the difference is in the above product the this... http://www.amazon.com/Lerway-Security-Tester-Camera-Monitor/dp/B00K4PTNN6/ref=sr_1_2?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1408646575&sr=1-2 Maybe I don't fully understand Amazon's pricing methods. From what I can tell the two above items are identical and from the same seller, but one is $10 less. -
Bump. And an interesting link from a UAV hobby site: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1146016

Hi y'all. Very new to this (only have experience with Trail/Game cameras). Been browsing the web, forums, etc. for a while now trying to do some research for a camera system (DVRs, cameras, sensors, IR types and lighting, optics) I want. I'd like to ask a few questions on a forum of people that have experience with this. Wanting to capture events covertly is my goal. Trail Cameras are ideal for this: They are a self-contained DVR, video/still camera, IR, PIR, power-source sealed up in a weather-proof little box. If they work the way you expect them to, they really fit the bill: 1-2sec response-time, time-date stamp, good battery-life and image quality. The problem is their shape. When you come upon an area/situation where you need surveillance, you find the ideal spot you would like to place it and realize were you to put it there it would stick out like a sore thumb. What would be nice is to have a "Trail Camera" that does not have the sensors, camera, IR, Mic and whatnot on the unit itself, but instead has ports that cables can plug into and then be run to to any camera/sensor/mic/receiver/IR of one's choosing. Such a system could be used in the field, installed in a vehicle, or used at home. Specs I'm guessing toward: Power: 12v DC (Car Batt or AC Adapter) Size: Small as possible Capacity: SD card most likely Ports: 12v DC in SD card (unless SSD HDD) 1to4channel Vid in 1to4channel Audio in (optional but preferred) 1to4trigger for sensors Some kind of trigger out for IR lighting(?) USB(optional) Here are a few DVR ideas that look interesting: http://www.safetybasement.com/Undercover-Law-Enforcement-Surveillance-System-p/px-sb-uci001.htm http://www.ovation.co.uk/miniature-H264-AVC-digital-video-recorder.html http://the-gadgeteer.com/2013/09/15/xtreme-life-dvr-and-landscape-stone-surveillance-camera-review/ http://www.supercircuits.com/resources/learn/surveillance-for-parks-and-recreation-areas/portable-covert-video-for-parks-video-cams http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Channel-Mobile-DVR-Car-Vehicle-Security-SD-Card-Video-Recorder-Black-Box-/130988708613 http://www.dhgate.com/product/anne-hot-gsm-home-dvr-alarm-system-with-sms/135857049.html (I have no experience with any of these devices and have no idea if they would do what I expect them to, or even if they work at all (could be ChiCom junk)) Cameras, sensors, and IR: I don't really know yet. My head is still spinning there. I know my Trail Camera captures nicely (Ex: Bushnell Trophycam HD Max 8MP - 1280x720 video w/audio) and that the flash is invisible (unless the BGs have NVGs of course), but would love to know what is possible. Any of you have any experience with these kinds of devices? Any good quality sources? Anything I need to avoid? (BTW, is there any company out there that deals with custom lenses -like for cameras or PIR sensors?)

So, These test-monitors can run on the the AC adapter? Are they protected against over-charge? -
Looking for a new test monitor
IdahoMan replied to jordanb's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
So I assume these test-monitors can still run using the the AC adapter, not just on the battery. And that the battery has built-in charge-control so you can leave it plugged in and not worry about over-charge? I viewed the other thread and saw a couple I am interested in.. I. http://www.amazon.com/RioRand-MONITOR-CAMERA-TESTER-RRLC200/dp/B005FIX5FE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1401751714&sr=8-4&keywords=cctv+tester#productDetails II. http://www.amazon.com/Monitor-CCTV-Installation-Maintenance-Monitoring/dp/B00DHCDL36/ref=pd_sbs_indust_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=160G449561JJEM43RMB9#productDetails These test-monitors use a 3.7v Lithium battery, and have 12v output to the camera. I guess that means these cameras run on a range of voltages? -
