You want to research Lens size in relation to image sensor size. You can use a 1/3" sensor with a 1/2" lens that will give you a wider view than a 1/3" with a 1/3" lens We use HD-SDI 1/2.X sensors with similar lenses all the way up to 1" lenses depending on what we are trying to accomplish. Pay attention to the lens F stop rating. Anything less than F1.4 is generally good for low light. Your cameras Lux rating and Sensup rating are also factors. You could use lens calculators and there are CAD programs that can help also but with experience I don't think it is necessary. Common sense during installation goes a long way.

need an advice on Amrican dymancis megapower 48 system

Here is the device: http://www.bb-elec.com/Products/Ethernet-Serial-Servers-Gateways/Ethernet-Serial-Device-Servers/Vlinx-VESR900-series-1-and-2-port-Ethernet-to-Seri.aspx?gclid=CJ_hnpuH2LsCFepaMgod2TwAUg&gclid=CJ_hnpuH2LsCFepaMgod2TwAUg&jadid=22990316046&jap={adposition}&jkId=gpt:pt_71668&js=1&jsid=31200&jt=1&jr=http://www.bb-elec.com/Products/Ethernet-Serial-Servers-Gateways/Ethernet-Serial-Device-Servers/Vlinx-VESR900-series-1-and-2-port-Ethernet-to-Seri.aspx&gclid=CJ_hnpuH2LsCFepaMgod2TwAUg There are fiber options available if you want to go that route. You will need to buy 2 of them. Connect one end to the key board and the other end near the DVR. You may need to make other wiring connections but we used models like this for Pelco & NST Keyboards. -
HD-SDI Cameras vs. IP Cameras where Live View is Critical
varascope replied to habusho's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
They have a sale going on now too I thought he determined he wanted HD-SDI. The one you recommended is IP -
I did a little digging and found this on Ebay Cheap Yes Reliable: ?? Outdoor: No Professional: No Good enough: You would have to decide Might be enough with a computer laying around to get 2 or 3 working Hope this helps. Should be easy enough for someone to help you setup. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wireless-WiFi-Network-Pan-Tilt-Audio-IR-Night-Vision-Security-IP-Camera-US/301052459955?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D261%26meid%3D3754102486468654008%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D1088%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D261048493861%26

Signal issue over coax
varascope replied to srtdodge05's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
IF you don't have testing equipment then try an inline amplifier that I recommended in previous post. If you have a 24vac camera you could try, I would do that first before ordering. 1 other possibility is try a larger power supply 2A or greater. I know it is a short run but try it. Sometimes the ratings are not accurate. Let me know which one works for you. Cheers -
I can only assume that a few have defective heaters or you have a small leak. Do you have a digital thermometer you can get close and point on a cold enough day to test? Either that your wind chill is awfully cold where your at. Check out http://www.testequipmentdepot.com/products.htm?item=IRT207&ref=gbase&gclid=CNfNke__1rsCFbA7MgodWWAA2w Might help in determining if your heater are working.

I have thought of the Cloud for certain applications but it seems more of a novel concept than a true solution for security. 1. What happens when you lose internet connection? Most internet providers also do maintenance between 1 -4 am. Try setting up a Pingdom account and monitor how often your connection does go down. 2. If someone intentionally cuts the line. A local gas station was robbed and they took the DVR so they replaced it with a cloud solution but next time they were robbed, phone and cable connections were cut in an attempt to disable the holdup (They forgot about GSM) but never less there was no recording after the cut and the cameras SD cards were not usable. Some cameras now had SD card slots but SD is rated for X number of Writes and who has time to verify the cards integrity. Some cameras should have the ability to notify when you have a problem but not 100% reliable 3. Storage retention- I found most cloud providers start you on view only but then charge for days of storage which on a multiple camera basis can be costly. 4. Security - On a DVR by DVR basis a hacker would have to find all DVRs and cameras. In a Cloud situation, if the hacker does gain access, they would have access to all the cameras. I too would be interested in hearing from someone who has used Cloud service for longer than 6 months with multiple cameras. Please provide details such as cost, storage retention, what back-haul provider etc. I have heard more bad than good but then again you hear more when people complain.

Do you have the housing model number? OR is this a bullet style camera? It has a heater but no fan?
-
Heater blower housing are very common. The 2 silver cans are thermistors that control high and low. High kick on the fan. Low kicks on the heater bar (Silver bar at photo bottom) They are available in 12VDC and 24VAC version. Connect source to the module and loop power to camera. Or you can get a complete housing like this: https://nstcctv.americommerce.com/store/p/49-Outdoor-Housing-Polycarbonite.aspx

Signal issue over coax
varascope replied to srtdodge05's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Questions: Local Power 12v or is it Siamese RG6 back to head end? How far is power supply to the camera? What gauge cable? Do the cameras have IR? Break out the ohm meter and measure the coax against ground on both buildings. I bet they are different. Going between buildings may require a common ground. If cameras are getting ground from power supply in building B but the DVR is in Building A you may experience what you are seeing right now. The night time /day time issue appears to be voltage draw hence asking about IRs. I would run a lightning arrestor in both buildings and ground to a common earth ground. At 1200ft I assume you have splices already. You could try a amp/booster approx $22/ea or 4ch unit approx $60. I also would recommend using 24vac cameras as the 12VDC are considered "Amateur" cameras and more suited to residential and very small installs. Another item to check is the connectors. Do NOT use screw on type connectors as they are common for a stray shield cable touching the center conductor. Crimp or compression are recommended. Odds are if you are experiencing the same issue with all remote cameras it is related to grounding. -
Would be hard to find a new system for that price as most mini-ptz start around $250 +/- 30. Mouse control is available but a keyboard controller maybe easier with the joystick. Do you need recording or just camera view? Might be able to find one on ebay.

Swann POE camera pin out
varascope replied to no12be's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Typical POE is: White/Orange Orange/White White/Green Blue/White POE + White/Blue POE + White/Orange Brown/White POE - White/Brown POE - This is the standard so I would be surpised Swann would do anything other. Can you post a photo? -
Avigilon + POS +USB Printer = solution needed
varascope replied to Maniek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
USB does not work that way. Someone has attempted before to place a diode running from the VCC side but it does not work. There are software solutions for reading the USB data and a script can be written to output to Serial or other interface. Most popular POS system have Serial ports BUT they have to be activated AND configured. What is your POS system? Is it running Windows? If so which version? -
Complete Junk. We tried them for a demo and had all kids of issues. Buy in the USA in case you need repairs. It is cheap to ship to the USA but have you ever got a quote on shipping back the other way? Almost the cost of the entire system and you have to cover it.

HD-SDI Cameras vs. IP Cameras where Live View is Critical
varascope replied to habusho's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Ok, If this happens then it is not a TRUE man trap! Your wiring and configuration is wrong. You need to install a contact, preferably recessed into both doors and wire direct or as I prefer using a relay module. If door A is open door B will NOT open. If A is closed then B has the capability to open & vice versa. -
Have you tried the HD-SDI cameras from National Security Tech? We have had good luck on existing RG-59 with 1080p at or around 300ft. But I do have to mention, on previous installations we used higher quality cable 95% with crimp-on or compression so upgrading to HD-SDI was not an issue. NST does have HD-SDI over fiber, Inline Repeaters and wireless (expensive but it works great), and a bunch of other HD-SDI products. Only had an issue with 3 cameras over a year and a half but they did replace them. AS far as the bandwidth part of the conversation, it is not network bandwidth but coax bandwidth. I get the impression the ones commenting on using "IP because it is better," don't understand HD-SDI and are reading high bandwidth as it refers to the network. Once your recorder captures the image, network is usually adjustable from 1080p, 720p and smaller resolutions for offsite viewing while maintaining 1080p at full 30fps, which IP systems can't handle (Note: Not referring to IP systems around 8 cameras and under. Understand we are talking professional to enterprise clientele.)
