Is there any benefit of a Intel Quad core system vs a C2D?
mcs replied to RichTJ99's topic in Geovision
My 2c, the core2 duo's rock Ive been using 2gb ram, I wouldnt use anyless at 100 bucks for 2 gb, even value select The ram is the major factor generally, as most people try to get away with 512mb, Im not using vga cards just sharing the ram Im also using the SV version seagate hdd's, they are a "good thing" prob go to 4gb with asus board when I do my next 16 build. -

I am posting info about Samsung Techwin range of cameras I was put off the samsung range ages ago because the dvr I connected some 415 cameras to wasnt very good- yet i realise that it wasnt live view, and they are GREAT cameras, this is all Im using now The dvr was a Fastrace unit (adpro) video verification unit Stoopid forum wont let me post attachments Benchmark Magazine reports (benchmarkmegazine.com) I will post about the topic of Techwin / vs electronics : Later

This is a ganz dome, in the right light level it is marvelous, There are many issues to consider with cctv...

1600hrs 2218hrs

1900 hrs 2200hrs
-
This is a 1/2" high res (540tvl) camera
-
Trust me coupled with a geovision DVR you wont be disspointed, specially with live view card THE dvr generally lets the cameras down I use the 415 as my base camera, then the dome over tills and in low places where people can fiddle plus its cheaper then 415 and lense (same specs) The 730 is good, but the 740 is the best for number plate recognition, Let us know hey when you get them to test, That way people can hear it from someone other then myself:) SVIII coming soon, I like Bosch, but theyre staff are arrogant edit : (management, I didnt want to point fingers) plus they are not interested in supporting the liddle guy whos battling his way to the top- ONE HATH A LONG MEMORY...
-
I wouldnt go under the 415, its base range in my mind- the 310's and 313's are ok inside with no external light issues, 530tvl low light the works, about the same as the sid450 dome, I love this dome the 730 is about the same yet lower light level and the 740 is optimum 1/2" ccd, hi res 540 tvl and low light 0.0001 without checking the box (mono switching) I know one guy using Bosch, all he goes on about is bosch this and that yet he uses Samsungs 4020 domes, they rock- they are the best Vandal resitant dome around... (plus for the price)

4GB .. using 32 or 64 bit windows? Far as I know 32bit windows only sees 3GB? So the question is, does Geo work on 64 bit windows .. ? I havent installed more en 2gb, cause its overkill really on a core2 duo, You could go to vista and use 4gb... Im still using basic old 32 bit windows home- working perfectly for dvr's.... The rest is a waste.. IMHO

Sorry @kopykat, you should go pc based, this way you can UG relatively cheap The MB im using (abit lg95) is future proof, works with Celeron, pentium core 2 etc etc All you have to o is swap the card later to UG cheaply if ever required, Technology changes rapidly, that after 5 yrs you will UG... Plus the AV tech crap (cp cam) is cheap gear and does not even come close to geo, why would you risk loosing a conviction over $500 you could have spent on a decent dvr. The AV tech (cp cam) stuff does not have LIVE view, is poor quality and even with a bosch 485 or samsung 740 does not give you anywehre near the quality the camera is pumping out Buy a cheap card off ebay, atleast it will record at near quality of the camera connected to it. Im starting to hate standalones, unless its high end gear like DM or Dalmeiyer even then It just doesnt compare, I have a mate going from Digital Si over to Geo cause hes seen my gear and loves it Custom gui and remote control over the whole PC is the best...

I have heaps and heaps of pc based systewms out there the prob I find is that people cheat and try to cut corners with hardware - **** machine Go to tested pc's area and find the one Im using now, tried and tested- working perfectly, suits any card.... 2gb ram is filth- you can go another 2gig on that board for 100 bucks , so 4 gig will fly

Im cloning this setup now b4 I reg windows I cloned it, so I can just put a box together and walah not long to make a dvr Just waiting for a sale of gv1480 now to clone it, woohoo this is wild I even have logmein.com setup for remote control of the machines...
-
Done, done and all done guys this is a fault with this sw version, Trust me, I have doubl checked and rechecked everything, there isnt much to do for DSP setup
-
DSP in new 1120 machine we just built is being used for monitor for public view, The dsp flicks through the 3 cameras not being used and shows a black screen instead of jumping back to cam1 etc, Geovision have been made aware of this issue, waiting for a fix.
-
OK I should have mentioned this is not the first time I have installed gv cards this is not the first time I have setup dsp THIS is a fault with the sw it has been tested I was just letting yall know I have setupo many gv systems since 2004 and I know them backwards.. cheers
