Hello everybody, I have a special request from a customer, and I'm a bit lost. My customer wants to have his cameras and NVR in datacenter, which is pretty simple...but...he also wants to control everything with a PTZ joystick from his home ! So he wants the joystick being able to control the cameras (through the NVR) over internet...I don't know if it's possible. Does someone have a solution for this ? Or is it just not possible ? Thanks for your help.

Thank you for your answer. My customer wants a real joystick (and not using mouse on software), so option 1 is not possible. Option 2 is what I would do, but customer doesn't want NVR and Joystick together...that's an issue. Other option ?

Hello, DS-7108N-SN/P is about $100 less than DS-7608N-SN/P. Does anybody know why there is such a difference ? Less features (which ones) ? The main downside (for me) is that there is no english version sold right now (I'm not that good in english, so I let you imagine what it would be with chinese version ) @iTuneDVR : did you wrote an english firmware for DS-7108N-SN/P ? Is it possible to share it ?

Hello all, I'm trying to make IVMS4500 working on my Samsung GS4 (no success until now, that's why I'm here ). Here's is what I did till now : On Hikvision DDNS (http://www.hikvisioneurope.net) I added my cam (cam1 - port 10011) On Cam1, I configured DDNS (first problem I can't modify port number - it's in grey - so it stays at 0), I save. I go back on Hik DDNS and I see my dynamic address but port is 0 (Of course dude I couldn't set it to 10011 on my cam ). So I change it to 10011. I also notice that device name has been replaced by domain number...Ok I change it to my cam name. Go back on hik ddns status page and now I see a web link to reach my cam So the link seems to be ok between my cam and hikvision DDNS, right ? Why can't I change my port number on my cam ? Then I installed IVMS4500, and tried to add a device : Alias cam1 Register Mode HiDDNS Server address http://www.hikvisioneurope.net Device domain same as on my cam User Name admin Password my password Camera No. 1 I configured with user and pass of my cam (not hik ddns site), am I right ? When I save...I got a "connection failed". (even with hik site account) Do you guys now where I'm wrong ? Edit : I forgot to mention that I didn't set port forwarding for rstp 554 and sdk 8000 yet but it should concern my connection issue, right ?

Can't you record small videos ? For example I record 24hours per day, with video time set at 10min. So I have 144 videos per day, each one less than 200MB.

As we are talking about motion detection I have a (simple) question: In camera configuration we set areas for motion detection. Like everybody, I have lots of false positives (by false positive I mean alarms triggered because of bugs/shadows...). I think a simple solution would be setting several areas and trigger alarms if motion is detected in several areas in the same time. For example, I set an area which is about 6ft high from the ground, and an other area which points to the ground. If something triggers one area only, no alert (it could be a cat or a butterfly...), but if it triggers two areas at a time then I want an alert (probably a human). So are there cameras capable of this ? I think that's not really hard to code and it can lower false positives... Does it make sense to you ?

Hello all, I ordered last week several hikvision cameras (I want to try several models to see what's good/wrong with each model). I received everything (thanks god and DHL ^^). I have a DS-2CD7253F-EIZ which have PTZ. I plugged my camera to my NVR (DS-7608NI-SE/P) but I can only focus or zoom, when I try to use PTZ control (moving left/right/up/down) nothing happens. So I started to understand why, and if I'm not wrong (documentation is not good) I think I have to put a cable between my camera (RS-485 port) and my NVR (RS-485 port too), am I right ??? (I don't have such cable here so I can't test it now) Am I missing something else ? (Hope camera is not broken ) I have a DS-2CD2732F-IS which have alarm output. I want to plug this camera to a siren alarm (I have small one), but this camera has too many cables : LIN/MIC- RIN/MIC+ MIC_GND ALARMIN_GND ALARMOUT_GND ALARM_IN ALARM_OUT LINE_GND LINE_OUT_L LINE_OUT_R Which ones do I need to plug to my siren alarm (2 cables in my siren alarm a black one - and a red one +) ? Does someone know what are the other cables used for ? Thanks for your help !!!

FYI, the answer from my supplier is I just need to connect cables together (camera to siren) and it will work. (camera provides power to siren). So I will try it and tell you if it's OK. @milkisbad: Thank you, but I'd like to stay with only one brand. But if I don't find what I want from Hikvision, I will try your cam ($1400...it hurts )

@buellwinkle Thank you for these precisions. Well it's only for testing purposes so I will deal with it. My fault I'm a newbie, so I've been tricked, it won't happen again I swear (...I mean, I hope ) I'd like to stay with Hikvision cameras, don't you know one good PTZ camera from this brand ? And thank you atcsam, it's hard for me to understand your informations, I think I will take a coffee and read it again, slowly (electronic + english, will give me a headache ).

I think I will give a try on mine (I got a 7608), because it's quite strange and that could be a (really bad) bug...

Hello and thank you for your help. Finally I got it working using DS CAM (application to connect to surveillance station, my Synology NAS). Hikvision DDNS is bad because it tries to do everything alone, I mean you can't specify ports (only http port) and I think that when it reaches the camera, it finds other ports in camera configuration but it never takes in consideration the fact that there can be NAT (basically, to reach my camera on 8000 port you have to reach my router on 11800 port, and hikvision DDNS won't find it so it can't work). It would have been better if hikvision DDNS simply asked for all ports on their website I think...

Thank you for this great link. So basically, the relay is a power supply (with good voltage/current...of the siren I guess, it won't power my camera so doesn't need to be compliant right ?). Connections are (tell me if I'm wrong): relay ground goes to siren - relay + goes to camera alarmout_gnd alarm_out goes to siren + Right ?

What I don't get is, if it's not PTZ, what is the following specification for : Angle adjustment (2-Axis): Pan: 0° ~ 355°, tilt: 0° ~ 80°, rotation: 0° ~ 355° And what's the role of RS-485 port if not for PTZ ? What I see in documentation is : In section 10.6 RS-485 Settings : Why would my camera have such port if the camera doesn't support PTZ ? @buellwinkle : Thank you for the beautiful diagram So I need to buy a relay...Since I don't know what it is, (and if I translate to french I'm not sure the word is the same we use here) can you send me a link of sample relay (so I'll be able to look for one in my country). Hello, First of all, thank you for these answers ! I bought a small siren alarm for my tests, I only have 2 cables on it (cable + and cable -). I thought that I just needed to connect these cables to my camera to make it work, but you think I need power separately ? Won't it be provided by the camera itself ? I don't trigger siren alarm on motion detection, but if I get an email showing there is a real problem, I'll be able to reach my camera and trigger siren manually (that's my purpose). No ideas about my PTZ camera ?

me ? I like it, that's what I have all around my house ! He just asked for a varifocal dome for outside, that's why I didn't mention it as outdoor camera (DS-2CD2332-I has fixed lens).

Sure about -S option ? I thought it was meant for "Sound" (sound capable, i.e having a mic in or the possibility to plug a mic in). I was looking for the IR bleed information for this small dome so thank you. Indeed IR bleed is THE issue we find on most domes. So I'm glad I didn't order it - I ordered last week a DS-2CD2732F-IS (the only Hik dome with no visible IR bleed till now) which for me is still the best non-PTZ dome. But well if you don't need night vision, this small dome is still really good !

That's why I didn't mention it, but for sure it's a good camera, and a very cheap one (but I would go for DS-2CD2032-I - full HD for $15 more), and be careful, only 2-axis camera (if I remember well). DS-2CD2532F-I can be a good small dome if there's no IR bleed (but I can't confirm it).

DS-2CD2732F-IS is a dome as you requested. You can even put it inside or outside (since it's in your budget for both cases). For indoor usage, maybe DS-2CD2532F-I could be good too (I don't know about the IR bleed with this camera), it's a mini dome, vandal proof.

I'm not expecting a real improvement (since image in night is already pretty good), and I need to see a real difference with a before/after picture. I think I'll wait for better features (motion detection accuracy for example or at leat being able to set it with a custom value not only 0-20-40-60-80-100).

Hello, I only work with Hikvisions cameras, so my advices will only concern these cameras : Outdoor : DS-2CD2732F-IS So far one of the best dome at that cost (bought one for $230), no noticeable IR bleed (which is often an issue when working with domes), good image, vari-focal (as you mentionned it, but be careful it's not a PTZ, you have to set your lensl before mounting your camera, you can't modify it through the NVR), you can even plug a mic in if needed. Vandal proof ! About cars, if you are talking about license plate recognition, then I'm no help but you can go on buellwinkle's web site, he wrote a great post about it !!! Indoor : DS-2CD2432F-IW or DS-2CD2332-I About DS-2CD2432F-IW many features and great quality ($170). The main downside for me is that it's too easy to break it (easy to grab with your hands just pull it and everything comes : cameras, cables, wall...) About DS-2CD2332-I, less features but enough (good quality, more difficult to break because of the eyeball shape) for $130. NVR : I don't know NVRs very well. I work with my home NAS, syno DS414 with 4*4TB but I only use it for my 6 cameras, so I don't know how scalable it is... Hope this helps.

I don't know if there is a link, but the factory I work with told me last time I order that now all hikvision camera they sell are English version (it was about 2 weeks ago). About your problem, just don't upgrade now, they should upgrare iVMS4200 too. So don't worry (but easy for me to say that since I use my Synology as NVR). I read this thread, and I tried with VLC, great it works ! Unfortunately, it only works in my home network, not outside My question is : Can RSTP protocol be the issue (not tolerant, I mean I'm on the web and I reach my ISP router which forward to my internal router which forward to my hik cam, maybe RTSP protocol doesn't like so many hops) ? FYI, port forwarding should be OK, because I reach my camera web interface from Internet, and I double checked, my port forwarding configuration is the same on both router for web and RTSP (except that port number changes of course). My port translation : (WEBUI) From Internet 11080 > ISP ROUTER > 11080 > INTERNAL ROUTER > CAMERA PORT 80 (RSTP) From Internet 11554 > ISP ROUTER > 11554 > INTERNAL ROUTER > CAMERA PORT 554 Thanks for your help.

Never tried to record from my Hik Webui to my Syno, so I didn't have your issue. I don't if you loose the 3MP using PSIA on Syno (I think it has been discussed on others threads that says "yes you loose it" but I don't remember if it concerns PSIA mode).
