  1. Fwiw, no improvement with the POE+ power source. So, the camera is going back as 'defective item' under eBay's No Hassle Returns program. The seller will probably contend this, but we shall see.
  2. I'm new to this board and to security cams in general. I do, however, have substantial audio background and an appreciable knowledge of image processing. My foray into this area is simply as a hobbyist (for now). Anyway, I took my chances on one of these: http://www.securitycameraking.com/12x-2-megapixel-outdoor-ip-59499-prd1.html (Sorry for the unlinked urls. Are url tags not allowed for forum newbies?) One of the first things that caught my attention was the blistering buzz that comes over the audio portion of the output stream (either via the web interface or rtsp stream), which seems to correlate with the audible whine emanating from the camera itself. I realize there is no built-in mic, but still find it odd this would be the case. Fine, so once I find out that only line-level input is supported (undocumented), I connect a line-level audio source for testing. Now, what I get is the audio competing with the buzz. It's as if the audio processing contains a noise gate which opens and closes with incoming audio. When it's closed, the buzz is subdued. When it opens, the buzz is at full intensity. I just uploaded an audio example here, featuring the voice of the sensational Neil DeGrasse Tyson: https://soundcloud.com/junogoose/ipcam-noise Please tell me this is not normal. Is it bad shielding within the unit? Thanks, Dan p.s. - I should also note that I currently have it powered directly from the included PS. Once my POE+ injector arrives in a day or so, I'll be able to rule out a bad PS as the noise source.
